Talk:St Andrews University Students' Association
Appearance
Merger
[edit]I have gleaned all relevant information from this article, and request it be merged with the University of St Andrews Students' Association, as this is a far more concise article, so far running parallel to this. (Just to clarify, I wish for the current University of St Andrews Students' Association article to become the main article, and this article to become a redirect to that article)
- Add *Support or *Oppose followed by an optional one-sentence explanation, then sign your opinion with ~~~~
- Oppose the website Constitution lists the official name of the Association as St Andrews University Students' Association, though they use the name of University of St Andrews SA that is not the legal name of the organisation. Davidkinnen 12:41, 23 April 2006 (UTC) (Association Chair Emeritus)
- Further Information: The Students' Representative Council today presented a motion to change the name in the constitution to 'The University of St Andrews Students' Association', this will be verified by the SAB and the Court at their next meetings, however it is unlikely they will refuse. - Support the naming of the association is inconsistent at best, it is better known as the University of St Andrews Students' Association, as shown by the big sign outside the building, for example; even the footers on the Constitution refer to it as the University of St Andrews' Students Association, it is also current house style of the association to be known as the University of St Andrews Students' Association, thus is reason enough to merge. - Support There is not now, nor has there ever been, a St Andrews University. It is the University of St Andrews. Universitas Sancti Andreae apud Scotus, which translates from the Latin as The University of St Andrew among the Scots, so strictly speaking, the association is The University of St Andrews Students' Association.
