I have just added archive links to 2 external links on Walter Latham. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}}

Lede changes
[edit]Hello - On this page, the article's first sentence identified Latham as African-American. I think, in this case, that's probably not relevant enough to his notability to mention very first in the article, per MOS:ETHNICITY. While it's true that Latham's productions revolve largely around African-American comedians, he's a businessman and an entertainment mogul, and that's not particularly strongly tied to race in the way I think MOS:ETHNICITY means it. I moved the ethnicity into the biographical section about his early life; previously, I wouldn't have done this since it's unsourced, but to address concerns about erasure, I can now refrain from removing it. I guess there's a question of whether it's relevant to identify him as African-American somewhere in the lede other than at the very first position - perhaps in the second or third sentence of the lede; to be honest, I don't think I would object to anyone restoring ethnicity to later in the lede who thought it is important enough to do so, even if I disagreed. Okay, to try and address concerns raised by SusunW, I tweaked the second sentence of the lede. I'd trust a consensus that stated it was important to note that Latham specifically championed the careers of black entertainers in the lede, so I adjusted the second sentence to better capture that. - Thank you Chubbles for weighing my response. I did not reply here, as it is often difficult to follow conversations on multiple pages, but it may be helpful for readers to see what my response was and the broader discussion. SusunW (talk) 23:43, 6 May 2020 (UTC)
- I'm going to keep the conversation on one page too as it is less confusing. But I think to say his notability and his productions being predominantly of African Americans are unrelated is naive. ☕ Antiqueight chatter 22:50, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
- I don't think anyone's arguing they're unrelated. I'm not sure I follow the logic there. Chubbles (talk) 01:31, 8 May 2020 (UTC)
