Introduction to contentious topics
[edit]You have recently edited a page related to the Horn of Africa (defined as including Ethiopia, Somalia, Eritrea, Djibouti, and adjoining areas if involved in related disputes), a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

- Usually when talking about something related to an article it should be done on the article's talkpage. I have moved it there for the people who were interested in knowing why it was removed Abo Yemen✉ 07:47, 29 December 2024 (UTC)

Deletion review for Brian Thompson (businessman)
[edit]An editor has asked for a deletion review of Brian Thompson (businessman). Because you closed the deletion discussion for this page, speedily deleted it, or otherwise were interested in the page, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Hemiauchenia (talk) 20:34, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
- This is just a note that in light of the deletion review, I've re-opened the AfD (as permitted by WP:NACD) to let an administrator close it. The guidelines say that
close calls and controversial decisions are better left to admins
, and I think this falls under both of those categories, particularly since a number of keep !votes were not well reasoned and should have been given less weight. Thanks, Extraordinary Writ (talk) 23:21, 29 December 2024 (UTC)- Hello, Abo Yemen,
- I believe that this was the first AFD closure I've seen by you and it was definitely not have been a NAC even if you had had some experience. NACs should not be done on controversial articles or discussions or be close calls. It's best if opinions are unanimously "Keep". You also closed this discussion early and you should really wait a full 7 day period before closing a discussion. So, this wasn't a wise choice of an AFD to close for your first one. If you want to get involved in AFDs, we could really use you as a full participant, not as a closer. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 00:37, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
- Oh my bad lol, I was a bit too bold this time. Ill be sure to participate in other AFD discussions Abo Yemen✉ 05:07, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
Alleged
[edit]Hi, I've undone your edit to maintain consistency across all similar attack-type articles. If you want to edit all the others to maintain this consistency then feel free to do so. Ecpiandy (talk) 05:34, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
