Just thought I'd send you a quick message to let you know that I appreciate all your work in helping with Jill Valentine. I don't know if the article will be promoted this time around or not, but I wanted to send some thanks your way and tell you that I appreciate the time and effort you put in reviewing the article and offering feedback. Happy holidays, and good luck in 2019. All the best, Homeostasis07 (talk) 19:25, 24 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • I am glad that I could help at least a little. It is awesome that you even tried with the Jill Valentine article given its history and drama. If it does not get promoted this time around, I will look through it in the future, and do some edits and provide some comments/suggestions on the talk page. Happy holidays to you too, and hopefully 2019 will be a great year for both of us! Aoba47 (talk) 22:10, 24 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

At Seventeen

[edit]

Hello:

The copy edit you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article "At Seventeen" has been completed.

You'll see I added Wikilinks to a number of the musicians in the Background and Recording section. (These guys were no slouches!!) This listing also appears in the Credits and personnel section. I'm wondering whether it would be better to link the musicians in the Credits section and delete them from the Background section? This sentence would be all that's left of the last paragraph then - "Brooks Arthur, Larry Alexander, and Russ Payne were the audio engineers for "At Seventeen"." Just a thought.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Best of luck with the GAN.

Happy New Year.

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. RonBot (talk) 18:01, 4 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The article was fine. I don't think it was bad work at all. Most of the issues are the common ones I find in almost every article that I copyedit. Thanks for the opportunity and my edit summaries are to help everyone who edits (and remind myself why I do things). :D

What an honor it is to receive any kind of encouragement bits from you, Aoba! I often stumble upon an article you wrote all by yourself (or at least did major contributions to), be it about Shannen Doherty's works or a random almost totally forgotten obscure UPN sitcom that I used to love, so that is a huge thing for me. Hopefully you'll sort whatever you're going through in your life (or in the project) that got you to label yourself as semi-retired and, then, you'll get to stay here for quite a long time, even if just for me to continuing to follow your edits! =P Anyway, thanks! • @Bisbis: Thank you for the message! I am glad that I could encourage you, and thank you for the compliments. I will mostly likely return to Wikipedia in the future, but right now, I am devote my energy to other matters. Though I will still mostly do some random projects every now and then when I have the time and energy. I look forward to seeing your edits and projects in the future as well. When You Get a Little Lonely

[edit]

Hi Aoba47. I just wanted to let you know that I've restored When You Get a Little Lonely. (The next bit is largely a duplication of what I wrote in the edit summary, but I wanted to repeat it here.) I stumbled upon the article and, with respect, I disagree with your assessment that the subject is not notable enough to warrant an article. Indeed, you had written a very fine article, one that shouldn't languish as a redirect. I understand the FAC process was discouraging, but your work on marginal albums is worthwhile. Your work here is worth honoring and preserving, even if—perhaps especially if—it did not garner significant attention.

While the subject is somewhat obscure, you'd found enough sources to show the article meets the notability threshold. And though the article tells a small story, it's a story that should be saved and shared. With these few sources at your disposal and your straightforward, clear writing, a story emerges. An actress, a former child star known best for a childhood role, seeks to distance herself from that past, but is disappointed by a stage-managed process and lackluster results. To be clear, you stuck to encyclopedic prose, but the bittersweet regrets and poignant what-ifs suggested by the story resonate even in the confines of a plain Wikipedia retelling. That is to say: the article is small, yes, but it's not so small that it blows away. Beyond the more ordinary policy considerations, there is substance and meaning in what you wrote.

Though it's been a few months, I hope you didn't find the experience too discouraging, because the kind of writing you did here is needed and is valued. Sincerely, —BLZ · talk 01:07, 25 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Brandt Luke Zorn: Thank you for the message. It means a lot to me that you felt engaged with the article. I am still disappointed by the FAC, specifically the "compelling story" remark. I still disagree with it, but it is what it is. Thank you though for reverting the article, and I hope that other people enjoy learning about the album as well. Have a wonderful start to your weekend! Aoba47 (talk) 13:40, 25 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Advice needed

[edit]

A fellow user and me have been contributing to the article Shirou Emiya. However, it seems he is busy in real life. Still no plans to make it GA, but it recently got a major copyedit. Since the character comes from a visual novel, he was given different characterizations depending on the novel's routes. As a result, I'm kind of worried about the reception section. What do you think about it? Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 03:45, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thank you for the message, and I can understand your concern. I can imagine that it would be a little difficult to handle a visual novel as the plot and characters can vary wildly depending on the chosen route. The "Critical reception" subsection looks well-organized and clear to me. I have only done a rather brief read-through of it though, but I do not see any issues about the concept you pointed out above. I think you have done a very good job in the "Appearances" section to give each route its own subsection to really emphasize to the reader that they are different. That should also help a lot to distinguish his storylines in each route. Great job with the article by the way, as I am sure that it must have taken a lot of work. Resident Evil 5 at TFA

[edit]

Hi Aoba47. I noticed you previously supported the TFA nomination for Resident Evil 5, then reverted your support, presumably on the grounds that the nomination I had made was only a draft. Well the nomination is now live, and is featured at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests. If you do support the nomination, saying so now would be appreciated. If you see any problems with the nomination, please let me know and I'll try and fix them. Thanks and have a nice day. Damien Linnane (talk) 21:31, 5 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thank you for the message! Apologies for doing that earlier. I thought it was live and I did not see it was draft. I do stalk a few users' contributions on here, because I think it is really encouraging to see other people's projects and overall. It might sound super lame, but it makes me happy to see different things going on here. I will go and support it right now. I am glad to see it being added to the TFA nomination queue. Good luck with it and your future projects. Aoba47 (talk) 22:23, 5 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for your input on the FAC. Though I withdrew the nomination due to college finals, I have nominated the article for GA and hope you can give some input on it. Thanks in advance :) — (talk) 01:43, 10 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • @: Thank you for the message. I think that it is best to put it through the GAN process first, as valid concerns were raised during the FAC process. It is never fun to hear those kinds of comments during the FAC, but they are only there to help. I am taking a break from doing reviews for the foreseeable future, as I am just not any good at them to be perfectly honest. However, I will definitely take a look through the article in the future, and I will provide any additional commentary on the talk page if that is okay with you. Good luck with the article! It is such a popular album, so major props to you for taking it on. Aoba47 (talk) 02:06, 10 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

TFA on Valentine's Day

[edit]

Thank you for Chains of Love (TV series), a "rather unique dating game show. In a concept compared to "televised prostitution” by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Chains of Love revolves around a man or woman being chained to four members of the opposite sex for four days. Critical reception towards the show was primarily negative, with a majority of the criticism directed at the premise. This show represents a rather interesting slice of early reality television programming, though I could still see a network like VH1 rebooting this for the controversy. Also, for a bit of television trivia, the development of this show actually indirectly led to the production of a far more famous series known as Fear Factor. This nomination also continues my weird fascination with UPN programming as I have put several other shows from the network through the FAC process in the past. I am looking forward to everyone’s comments. I hope you all have a wonderful day." - Happy Valentine ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:14, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The Emperor's New School

[edit]

Hello:

The copy edit you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article The Emperor's New School has been completed.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

A couple of things I'll draw to your attention. The article mentioned that there was a pilot episode. I could find no indication that this was the case and so changed that to indicate the first episode "Rabbit Face" in the Broadcast section.

I'll stop now because I see you are now editing the article.

Best of luck with the GAN.

Regards,

Twofingered Typist (talk) 17:09, 21 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Twofingered Typist: Thank you for the copy-edit. You have vastly improved the article a great deal. If you would like to continue to do edits on the article, you are more than welcome to. I just wanted to address two of the issues that you raised (i.e. the quote from the reception section and the citation tag). Apologies if that was discouraging further edits. I should have waited until you posted the completed tag on my talk page, and I will do so in the future for any future copy-edits from the guild. I agree with you about the pilot episode, as it is best just to name the episode to avoid any ambiguity. I always greatly appreciate your help. Have a great rest of your week. Aoba47 (talk) 17:26, 21 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Not a problem. I had the article "open" in edit mode to describe several changes I'd made in my note to you and was worried this would cause an edit conflict when I closed it. I should not have added the GOCE tag to its Talk Page until I'd sent you the notification. I was going to point out the pre-broadcast quote which you have removed and mention the citation tag which I see I added in error. I have edited the "saturation" sentence just slightly to be clearer. It's all good. Cheers, Twofingered Typist (talk) 19:13, 21 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
