Discussion of changes
[edit]Please don't revert changes to the Srivijaya page when I've asked for discussion on that article's talk page. Unilateral changes without discussion do not do a lot to advance Wikipedia. Saw the compliment on the U-M article talk page. Thanks, though in a way I was doing this for two reasons:
- To set a standard of what a featured university article should look like (there were no other featured university articles until the U-M article, so in a way I was breaking new ground. Except for the football team this year, at least something relating to U-M was the "leader and best"). Seems that I set a trend, for people from other universities (Texas, Penn State, even MSU) are already working on getting their respective university articles up to FA standards.
- To be acknowledged in some way. I saw U-M as another article to get up to FA standards (after getting four articles, including Ann Arbor, up to FA). With five featured articles under my belt, I was hoping that someone would notice (hey, there are some people who have bruised egos :-). PentawingTalk 06:57, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
- Well, the article's has been through one massive storm and now it is up for Featured Article Removal (FARC). In the meantime, I am starting an effort to clean up as many of the POV issues as possible. If you are able to help, I will appreciate it. PentawingTalk 05:44, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
- Just to let you know (if you aren't aware of it already) that the article has (relief!) retained its featured status (though I had to thoroughly copyedit it to reduce the POV). As a sidenote, nice work with the UM user infobox. PentawingTalk 04:34, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

Copyright advice
[edit]I came across your comment in the edit summary concerning Francis Light; did you send a notice to the webmaster saying they had to make it GFDL or else? I had to personally do it today, so I'd just thought I'd tell you if you come any such thing in the future, assert the GFDL's authority, since plagiarism is one thing, but claiming a copyright to GFDL material isn't.
Oh, I've taken the liberty to remove three notices from your talk page placed there by Orphanbot, and deleted the respective images, because it said "temporary, for help desk use". Elle vécut heureuse à jamais (Be eudaimonic!) 08:56, 22 January 2006 (UTC)

Request for edit summmary
[edit]Hi. I am a bot, and I am writing to you with a request. I would like to ask you, if possible, to use edit summaries a bit more often when you contribute. The reason an edit summary is important is because it allows your fellow contributors to understand what you changed; you can think of it as the "Subject:" line in an email. For your information, your current edit summary usage is 33% for major edits and 33% for minor edits. (Based on the last 150 major and 150 minor edits outside the Wikipedia, User, Image, and all Talk namespaces.)
This is just a suggestion, and I hope that I did not appear inpolite. You do not need to reply to this message, but if you would like to give me feedback, you can do so at the feedback page. Thank you, and happy edits, Mathbot 04:15, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

Sabah category
[edit]Pls don delete our Sabah categories. We started one month ago and we are still putting efforts into it, by making more articles. Our online resources in Sabah are very limited. Please have mercy on our hardwork!!
About the Sabah musuem article, I have taken from my uncle website. His website http://www.borneo-online.com.my is running down. Before his borneo online homepage wiped out in near future, some of his resources can be contributed to Wikipedia.
Many of my photos being deleted. I am very confused, cos many of the photos do not have a copyright of law. And what is the reason for not making use of them??

[edit]Hi there. I've been trying to take out some of the more POV edits that Bargholz has been adding to Earth Day, but of course he's trying to revert them so I don't know if I'll have any luck in doing so.
While you and I have very different political opinions, I think I can tell that we are both committed to truth on Wikipedia, and I'd like to thank you for standing up to agenda-driven editors who think that they are some kind of 'gods' who may use wikipedia as their personal propaganda machine. I have faith that you will continue to improve articles by removing POV. Anyway, in short, thank you and don't get discouraged.

Where are these so-called sources?
[edit]Where are these "sources" speaking of North Vietnam alliances that Bargholz keeps spouting off about? I looked under the Weasel Words paragraph, and found only one person who could be identified with Soviet communism. Could you please enlighten me a bit as to whether or not he has actually cited anything?
Mister Mister 22:42, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
Sorry for yet another message, but this is important.
[edit]Bargholz has again engaged in personal attacks on the talk page, calling both of us "book-burners", labelling me as a "sophomoric leftist", and other things. I'd rather not go through and pick through the paragraphs to find his insults, so if you could check out the talk page yourself, that would be a big help.
Which leads to my question. I am really beginning to think that this needs to be taken to the arbitration committee, because I doubt that anything else is going to resolve this. He's engaging in repeated personal attacks, deliberately inserting POV into articles, using political slurs as a way of silencing opposition and disrupting the editing process. I don't have much experience with that though as I've only been on Wikipedia for about a month or two, so if you could help me out with this I'd appreciate it greatly. Thanks.
Sincerely,
Mister Mister 03:17, 29 April 2006 (UTC)
GW/ice
[edit]hey, I was browsing the wikipedia's sci ref desk and [Wikipedia:Reference_desk/Science#Global_Heating I saw this]. To be exact, its about ice and latent heat. It reminds me of my physics. User:Peter Grey asks "once most of the Earth's ice has melted, we should expect the temperature to increase at a faster rate?". Given what for I know from my undergrad physics, I'd say at least the temperature of the water from the melted ice. But what about of global temperature? Should we expect temperature to increase at a faster rate too? __earth (Talk) 15:36, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
- Most of the earths ice is in Antarctica. It won't melt for a long time (> millennia). So in practice, the question is moot. In terms of the ice that *is* melting - glaciers etc - I doubt that the latent heat is a significant component, globally. The storage of heat in the oceans is probably more significant. William M. - Way to not sign your entires, Bargholz. And I'll be addressing your post on my talk page at a later date, when I actually have time to waste in doing so. Mister Mister 23:46, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
- Do you suppose I was trying to conceal my identity, junior? Why would I sign an "entire," anyway? I'm not a leftist censor, like you and anak bohong. If you don't have time to address my post to you, then why are you addressing my post to someone else? Take all the time you need, boy. Muster as much courage and sophistry as you can handle. If you cant deal with me directly, plagiarizing someone else's polemics won't help.
- Wipe the snot out of your nose and grow up.

Parameswara
[edit]"Parameswara (1344-1424) was a Malay Srivijayan prince that escaped Majapahit's capture of Palembang and later established the Sultanate of Malacca in 1402. Sejarah Melayu alleges that Parameswara was a descendant of Alexander the Great of Macedonia. He was a Hindu before his marriage with Malik ul Salih of Pasai's princess that led to his conversion into Islam. Upon conversion, he styled himself as Sultan Megat Iskandar Shah."
Hi Hafiz, I noticed you edited this part, thanks. But then I noticed you wrote "...later established the Sultanate of Malacca in 1402.". This part I afraid is incorrect because Parameswara was not yet a Sultan within 1402-1413, at that time Malacca was not a Sultanate but a traditional Srivijayan-styled Kingdom, am I right? Re: approximately 10.129 times
[edit]From my talk - How it is possible to vandalise a page 10.129 times? It is approximate number, in the case normal vandalism I would increase the number by 1, but for just for changing the number in the box or similar edits I usually increase it by a fraction. The reason for this is I use to just revert number changes, but occasionally end up in a edit rv loop, wasting my time, minor increases in the number seemed to stop this.
Why would you want to "vandal it 0.871 time"? Have I stepped on your toes or annoyed you some how? Or is it just a case of you would like to see a whole number? --blue520 07:06, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- Besides it seeming illogical (as vandalism events are usually defined by whole numbers and not normally defined fraction of a whole number) and is not to you personal taste or causes you annoyance. Is there any other reason that you think I should remove it, such as it is offensive or that it reduces the quality of or causes harm to Wikipedia?--blue520 10:23, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- Look, I quite like it the way it is and there is no way am I going to let you vandalise any thing. You have to remember that it is a approximate number and a approximate whole number just is illogical as fraction of a whole number in this case. I would rather you moved on and forgot all about it. But it is quite clear that you find it irritating, so how is this for a idea.
- As a one off event, I give you the permission to recalculate the number times my user page has been vandalised (I assume your belief is 11 times) and change the number (no vandalism involved) as there is a good chance that I may have under estimated the number. I suggest after that you do not go near my user page unless necessary (and I cant think of a good reason why you would have to), as this is starting to become a irritant for me and non-whole number thing seems irritate you. OK? --blue520 12:51, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- Umm ... Blue, lighten up, dude. This was clearly a friendly joke. It's the kind of joke I might have made, but rest assured, there's no way I'd be making it on your user page having read this. I guess that one person's light and inoffensive humour is another's unjustified vandalism ... Colonel Tom 11:29, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
