Question new label

Hi Fulbert, hope all is well and you will have a great 2024. I noticed your comment on the site of Hoek and wanted to understand better what you still needs to be amended? E.g. she is the most mentioned author in the book that won Maurice Swirc the Brusseprijs but I haven’t even added that yet as it is a fine balance between overdoing it and proving notability (initially I listed far less). Also there are several articles about her in Indonesia and e.g. by internationally well known authors like David van Reybrouck and Adriaan van Dis that praise her work, the latter even states there is no person from which he learnt more in his new book and mentions her many times in De kolonie mept terug that is also published as a book next week but already available. What type of things are you looking for? I believe the comment that others do ‘a mere mention’ is not representative for the underlying information. Did you go trough everything? I actually thought she already been vetted in this respect (see full history), as someone else already removed a similar comment after reassessment in as many sources and publications haven been added. I am her partner by the way and only add reliable third party sources for everyone to check. Hope to hear from you what else I can add, I am happy to provide! @Ewout12345 Thanks for the additional information. Please know that you have a WP:COI with the article you created, Anne-Lot_Hoek, and given all of your Wikipedia edits have centered on this article, your account is also considered a WP:SPA. I am particularly interested in aspects here of Notability WP:N, and in the section on Importance of research, which I think is most needed, some of the sources do not really feel credible as listed (an ebook was cited, as was a radio intereview, along with uncited claims from a dissertation committee). The DOI to the text in that section seems solid, and I am wondering if there are other secondary or tertiary citations that can be added to establish academic notability? Hi Fulbert, thanks for the feedback. One question I have; may I ask why it matters if it is a normal book or an e-book? For the Libris prize I can add the jury report to the radio feedback and the promotion committee is generally not published (eg proof can be found on social media from Jan Bart gewald), we have approval by mail (hence it is also on her website), video etc. but YouTube won’t work in the UK etc. Hope you just trust us here as 98% of the article is cited. Will get back in the coming week.

Also will be back home within the next two weeks to my hard copies of the books mentioned, can/will then replace ebooks with those hard copies, though the content of this books is exactly the same. Only the pagenumbers differ to my best knowledge. Ewout12345 (talk) 15:51, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
@Ewout12345 When I read the word "e-book" I read it as a self-published and thus not reviewed work. Otherwise, if it were from a respectable publishing organization, then it would not need to be intentionally referred to as an e-book as it would be a book as any other would with an ISBN. I understand now, thank you. We are for half a year in Southern Africa for research on her new book, hence we did not carry our hard copies of Indonesia related books :-). I will add the ISBN of the e-book for now and replace it with the ISBN of the hard copy once home and settled okay? Regarding the Libris Geschiedenis Prijs Jury, I remember now they don’t publish a jury report, they announce their views on the radio. That is why I used that as a source. Hi Fulbert, when I asked to revisit the rating it went to class B (however notability was kept at low to my surprise as that definition does not do her just to my opinion). I will go trough her suggestions to see where I can further improve but please expect some more changes in the coming period. Will ping you when done, and then leave it rest for another week as suggested and ping you again once that week lapsed.

  • New request for comments: Community request for the development team to access inverse properties on client wikis. (Summary: We currently cannot access inverse property values on Wikipedia. This can be a data management issue on Wikipedia as we must always ask ourself if we must introduce an inverse property for cases where we need them. So I think it’s useful to gather the usecases community would want and draft a request for an API to the devteam to do that.)

  • Upcoming: The next Wikidata+Wikibase office hours will take place on Wednesday, 16:00 UTC on Wednesday, 17th January 2024 (18:00 Berlin time) in the Wikidata Telegram group. The Wikidata and Wikibase office hours are online events where the development team presents what they have been working on over the past quarter, and the community is welcome to ask questions and discuss important issues related to the development of Wikidata and Wikibase.
  • Past
    • Provenance Loves Wiki (PLW24), Jan 12th - 14th, research and data on the origin of artworks and cultural heritage and how Wikibase and Wikidata can support this.
    • WikiLovesWomen #SheSaid campaign wrapped up the 2023 campaign by visiting Kinshasha and Kisangani, where local Wikimedians improved quotes from women on FR Wikipedia and Wikidata.

Tool of the week

  • Brian M Sperlongano released US boundary QA checker, a quality assurance tool for finding issues with boundary data in the United States by using Wikidata, OpenStreetMap, and US Census Bureau data.
  • The Surrounding Ocean (available at vrandezo.github.io/TheSurroundingOcean) - is a tool that allows you to browse lexicographical data. You can use the tool to explore words and their meanings, translations, and synonyms. The tool is currently under development, and the developer, Danny, would appreciate feedback to fix any issues with the tool. More info: Wikidata:The Surrounding Ocean.

  • IP masking: We are working on adjusting Wikibase to handle the upcoming introduction of IP masking, which will give editors who are not logged in a temporary account name instead of using their IP to attribute edits to (phab:T351968)
  • Lexicographical data: We are changing how empty Senses and Forms are represented in the dumps (phab:T305660)
  • mul language code: We are doing user testing for the current implementation to see if it is understandable for people.
  • Mismatch Finder: We are continuing the work on migrating it to the Codex design system.
  • REST API:
    • We improved the handling of lower-case statement IDs (phab:T354262)
    • We are working on getting a sitelink for a given wiki (phab:T344039)
