Deleterion of David Demola

[edit]

Dear Vinay Gowda,

The subject is notable and featured on Christian networks. He has been accredited by Creflo Dollar and preaches to the 38th largest megachurch in the country as of 2017. Please do not mess with articles on prominent Christian leaders. May I have the original work for self-review and I will redo this article with sources for credibility? This will be redone neutrally and in an encyclopedic way.
Yours truly, John1427 (talk) 17:08 16 January 2019 (UTC)

[edit]

Hey

The page Anil K Reji has been nominated for deletion. Kindly let me know what can be done to prevent the deletion.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anil_K_Reji

Valid sources and news articles have been included as references in the article. But it still has been nominated for deletion. Kindly assist me through the walkthrough process of preventing the deletion.

Thanks.

Repeated Reverting on article on "Samiksha Jaiswal".

[edit]

Respected Sir/Madam,

Please tell why are you repeatedly reverting the article on Samiksha Jaiswal to #Redirect Zindagi Ki Mehek?

@Helpful14: As Barkeep49 mentioned in the edit summary that the subject not yet demonstrated to be notable per WP:NACTOR so please do not revert as it's WP:TOOSOON for this actress to have a separate article. Thank you. GSS (talk|c|em)

Edits made in Ram Awana Page

hi, Thank you for your reply. Whatever changes I made, have video references on youtube or some other sites. Can I not add such references? as Ram Awana is an actor internet is providing only video references. Please suggest what can I do. User:Gazal288 (talk) Thank you, Gazal288

Page Review of Victor Mbarika

[edit]

Greetings! Please the article Victor Mbarika has been reviewed and that is the reason why the COI code was removed and it is no more an orphan page since it is referenced in another wikipedia article (ICT University). I would be glad to have your comment. Thanks!

Gouri Kishan

[edit]

Why did you move the page to a draft? The version of the page when it was deleted was this (version of the article re-created on 14:48, March 15, 2020). I have heavily expanded the page. All I did was move Gouri Kishan to Gouri G Kishan.

The page Gouri KIshan existed for some time, but after I moved the page, you immediately moved it to a draft.

Just wanted to tell you that the page created during the deletion discussion was only one line and that is why it was deleted. --TamilMirchi

Request for a new set of eyes

[edit]

@GSS: is it okay if say new reviewers review Draft:Pascal Mouawad? Just wondering if it's possible! Probably a new mind would look at the additions and subtractions in a more positive light. Just a respectful request! Because for starters, the first reason you give for rejection of the article (reliable sources) doesn't really cut it. The subject of the article has been a notable celebrity gemologist for two decades and there're enough references in noteworthy media in which he's the subject of discussion. I think it's safe to please give other reviewers a chance to have a look at the article. I respectfully request that you please let a fresh mind have a fresh look at the article. Thank you!

Declined my article

[edit]

Hi,

you have recently declined my draft article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Street_Lamp_Games Please let me know the changes I should do and the mistakes I did. This is my first article in Wikipedia

Request for help to improve the declined Draft

[edit]

Hi GSS, Can you please explain on what needs to be added/modified to make this draft workable for resubmitting - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Sharath_Ravi The comment said, " Appear to have played some minor roles in major productions. Fails WP:NACTOR." He is an upcoming actor with good recognition from the Tamil language fans. It would be great if you can extend your support. Thanks in advance. GC

Wait a second, you're an Indian and you don't know about Premendra Mitra's Ghanada?!?

response to claim of paid editing

[edit]

Hi there! No, I'm not being paid for my editing at all, nor do I have any financial interest in any of my Wikipedia activity. I do confess to profiting from my intellectual pleasure. I've been working on my page about Rosamond for awhile, ever since last year when I was shocked to see that she wasn't on here. I'm a big fan of Wikipedia and have similar concerns about bias and paid editing, so thank you for yours :)

New Pages Patrol newsletter January 2023

[edit]

Hello GSS,

New Page Review queue December 2022
Backlog

The October drive reduced the backlog from 9,700 to an amazing 0! Congratulations to WaddlesJP13 who led with 2084 points. See this page for further details. The queue is steadily rising again and is approaching 2,000. It would be great if <2,000 were the “new normal”. Please continue to help out even if it's only for a few or even one patrol a day.

2022 Awards

Onel5969 won the 2022 cup for 28,302 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 80/day. There was one Gold Award (5000+ reviews), 11 Silver (2000+), 28 Iron (360+) and 39 more for the 100+ barnstar. Rosguill led again for the 4th year by clearing 49,294 redirects. For the full details see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone!

Minimum deletion time: The previous WP:NPP guideline was to wait 15 minutes before tagging for deletion (including draftification and WP:BLAR). Due to complaints, a consensus decided to raise the time to 1 hour. To illustrate this, very new pages in the feed are now highlighted in red. (As always, this is not applicable to attack pages, copyvios, vandalism, etc.)

New draftify script: In response to feedback from AFC, the The Move to Draft script now provides a choice of set messages that also link the creator to a new, friendly explanation page. The script also warns reviewers if the creator is probably still developing the article. The former script is no longer maintained. Please edit your edit your common.js or vector.js file from User:Evad37/MoveToDraft.js to User:MPGuy2824/MoveToDraft.js

Redirects: Some of our redirect reviewers have reduced their activity and the backlog is up to 9,000+ (two months deep). If you are interested in this distinctly different task and need any help, see this guide, this checklist, and spend some time at WP:RFD.

Discussions with the WMF The PageTriage open letter signed by 444 users is bearing fruit. The Growth Team has assigned some software engineers to work on PageTriage, the software that powers the NewPagesFeed and the Page Curation toolbar. WMF has submitted dozens of patches in the last few weeks to modernize PageTriage's code, which will make it easier to write patches in the future. This work is helpful but is not very visible to the end user. For patches visible to the end user, volunteers such as Novem Linguae and MPGuy2824 have been writing patches for bug reports and feature requests. The Growth Team also had a video conference with the NPP coordinators to discuss revamping the landing pages that new users see.

Reminders
  • Newsletter feedback - please take this short poll about the newsletter.
  • There is live chat with patrollers on the New Page Patrol Discord.
  • Please add the project discussion page to your watchlist.
  • If you no longer wish to be a reviewer, please ask any admin to remove you from the group. If you want the tools back again, just ask at PERM.
  • To opt out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.

New Pages Patrol newsletter June 2023

[edit]

Hello GSS,

New Page Review queue April to June 2023

Backlog

Redirect drive: In response to an unusually high redirect backlog, we held a redirect backlog drive in May. The drive completed with 23851 reviews done in total, bringing the redirect backlog to 0 (momentarily). Congratulations to Hey man im josh who led with a staggering 4316 points, followed by Meena and Greyzxq with 2868 and 2546 points respectively. See this page for more details. The redirect queue is steadily rising again and is steadily approaching 4,000. Please continue to help out, even if it's only for a few or even one review a day.

Redirect autopatrol: All administrators without autopatrol have now been added to the redirect autopatrol list. If you see any users who consistently create significant amounts of good quality redirects, consider requesting redirect autopatrol for them here.

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team, consisting of Sam, Jason and Susana, and also some patches from Jon, has been hard at work updating PageTriage. They are focusing their efforts on modernising the extension's code rather than on bug fixes or new features, though some user-facing work will be prioritised. This will help make sure that this extension is not deprecated, and is easier to work on in the future. In the next month or so, we will have an opt-in beta test where new page patrollers can help test the rewrite of Special:NewPagesFeed, to help find bugs. We will post more details at WT:NPPR when we are ready for beta testers.

Articles for Creation (AFC): All new page reviewers are now automatically approved for Articles for Creation draft reviewing (you do not need to apply at WT:AFCP like was required previously). To install the AFC helper script, visit Special:Preferences, visit the Gadgets tab, tick "Yet Another AFC Helper Script", then click "Save". To find drafts to review, visit Special:NewPagesFeed, and at the top left, tick "Articles for Creation". To review a draft, visit a submitted draft, click on the "More" menu, then click "Review (AFCH)". You can also comment on and submit drafts that are unsubmitted using the script.

You can review the AFC workflow at WP:AFCR. It is up to you if you also want to mark your AFC accepts as NPP reviewed (this is allowed but optional, depends if you would like a second set of eyes on your accept). Don't forget that draftspace is optional, so moves of drafts to mainspace (even if they are not ready) should not be reverted, except possibly if there is conflict of interest.

Pro tip: Did you know that visual artists such as painters have their own SNG? The most common part of this "creative professionals" criteria that applies to artists is WP:ARTIST 4b (solo exhibition, not group exhibition, at a major museum) or 4d (being represented within the permanent collections of two museums).

Reminders

@GSS I noticed that you have reverted my contribution to the Jagtar Singh Hawara article.[1] I had corrected the grammar and updated the references since some of the links were not working. The content remained generally the same. Could you please clarify what the issue was? Write&Publish (talk) 10:35, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Write&Publish: No, you didn't just correct the grammar or update the sources. You attempted to whitewash the article by removing sourced content and used a canned summary to mislead reviewers. This is not allowed. GSS💬 10:39, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@GSS Could you specify which sourced content was removed? For example, this link was removed, which doesn't work: https://www.punjabnewsline.com/content/view/5104/38/. Reliable sources have been cited. Whitewashed? Write&Publish (talk) 10:48, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Let's start with the lead section. First, could you explain why you altered the lead section to shift the focus away from the main reason for notability? Specifically, what led you to remove "He was convicted as a conspirator in the assassination of 12th Chief Minister of Punjab, Beant Singh" from the lead section? GSS💬 11:06, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

COI editing

[edit]

Hey! I noticed your reverts at BLS International and support them, but I wanted to clarify the policies and guidelines around paid editing. Per WP:COI, COI editing is strongly discouraged on Wikipedia., and per WP:PAID, If you are paid in any way for contributing to Wikipedia, you must disclose it.. From wmf:PAID, You must disclose each and any employer, client, intended beneficiary and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. Nothing actually prohibits paid contributors (or others with conflicts of interest) from editing Wikipedia, as long as they follow the proper disclosure procedures, which DeepVikas now has.

So, for example, I'd say the revert reason here should be something more like Unexplained removal of existing content in infobox, not "You aren't allowed to edit articles directly.", which is technically false. Also, your comment that "as per WP:COI, you aren't allowed to edit articles directly where you have a conflict of interest" is false in the same way.

Additionally, I think you're misunderstanding the line in the terms of use about linking profiles in paid editing. The actual text says, In addition, if you make a public posting off the Projects advertising editing services on Wikipedia in exchange for compensation of any kind, you must disclose all Wikipedia accounts you have used or will use for this service in the public posting on the third-party service. This means the user needs to link to their Wikipedia profile from their external site, not necessarily the other way around. So, your request that, As per WP:PAID you are required to provide a link to your profile where you advertise your services. is incorrect.

I also don't agree with the concept of paid editing in general, but we need to ensure that our policies and guidelines regarding it are shared correctly. Again, I support your reversions on that page, and I just wanted to make sure you understand the pages you're linking to. Hope this helps clarify things, and happy editing. Bsoyka (tcg) 19:12, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Bsoyka: Thank you for reaching out. I may have linked to the wrong page, but WP:PAY clearly states that ...global policy requires that (if applicable) you must provide links on your user page to all active accounts on external websites through which you advertise, solicit, or obtain paid editing. Providing a link to external profiles where paid editing is advertised is essential for full compliance with these disclosure policies.
Paid editor contributions are often promotional, which is I guess the reason why WP:PAY strongly discourages direct editing of affected articles. Instead, they should propose changes on the talk pages, which is what I requested. Since the individual has not yet disclosed whether they advertise outside Wikipedia or how they were hired, the disclosure remains incomplete. Thank you for your message. GSS💬 19:48, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, interesting — thanks for teaching me something here. Re: Since the individual has not yet disclosed whether they advertise outside Wikipedia or how they were hired, the disclosure remains incomplete.: they have answered this here. Also, I believe the rest of my message still stands. Strongly discouraged ≠ prohibited, so we shouldn't use paid editing as a sole reason for reverting or tell users they simply "aren't allowed to edit articles directly". Invitation to participate in a research

[edit]

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,
