Hi. When you get a chance, I'm interested to know if you wrote to Robert H. Jackson about his famous copyrighted photo. Are you familiar with the previous discussion about it and that it had been deleted from wikipedia multiple times before? Thanks, -- Infrogmation 21:04, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
Battle of Badr
Palm dogg, whatever disagreements we might (or might not) have on Wikipedia - and thank God are free to have - I am deeply grateful for your service to our country. I also appreciate that you have contributed the only featured article in this Wikipedia space, and will in the coming days attempt to maintain the standards of quality you once set.Proabivouac 07:11, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
3rd Battalion 3rd Marines GA nomination
Palm dogg, User:Rlevse provided a list of specific suggestions for the 3/3 article's GA nomination on its talk page. After addressing these suggestions, looks like its good to go. — ERcheck (talk) 23:16, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
- All the citations, refs, etc. are completed. I noticed that you moved the Skaggs image into the "Notable Marines" section. Unfortunately, for smaller screens, it make the table render poorly. I'm inclined to leave out the image. What do you think? — ERcheck (talk) 01:09, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not sure yet about a better place for the image. There is a picture Sgt Robert E. O'Malley, the first USMC Vietnam War MOH recipient, receiving the award from LBJ here. Unfortunately, there is not sufficient information to ascertain the copyright status of the picture. — ERcheck (talk) 02:19, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
- Shrinking the table made for all kinds of alignment problems on my small screen. I thought that a table with borders would help. Made a change. What do you think? — ERcheck (talk) 03:09, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
- I agree, the image is better in the Korean War section. I've formatted the Unit citations table to match the Notables table — the consistent format is better. — ERcheck (talk) 03:46, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
- Final things to do for 3/3 GA
- Note left on the 3/3 talk page — "1)first para WWII still has no ref, 2) first para 1991-2004 has no ref and it should as it list several details, 3) only a couple web refs have retrieve dates..." I'll try to take care of #3. Can you take care of #1 and #2. — ERcheck (talk) 03:47, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
- I think I have all the retrieve dates. Let me know if I missed any; and when you think it is ready for a final review by Rlevse. — ERcheck (talk) 04:32, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
- Promoted
- The 3/3 article has officially been promoted to GA status. Good work! Stay safe. — ERcheck (talk) 00:01, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
Images for 3/3
Which image do you think best represents 3/3? (It is being considered for being featured on the USMC Portal. — ERcheck (talk) 00:16, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
- I looked at Image:Engaging the Enemy.jpg. It is a nice image and would make a good "Selected picture". But, I'm struggling with how to use it as the image for a selected article. Take a look at the Portal to see an example. Preferrable, the image would be something that is iconic for the 3/3, or represents something that is in the lead paragraph. (Anyway to show "America's Battalion" with an image? ;-) Something from the WW2 when they were activated? I'd rather see a combat image than a training image, for example:
Here is another image you might consider for 3/3.[1]
- Comments? — ERcheck (talk) 02:10, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
Here is another recent image from Afghanistan [2]. Do you think you can incorporate this into the 3/3 article? The caption could include recent deployments, including Afghanistan, which this would represent well. The contrast with the snow makes the image very interesting. — ERcheck (talk) 02:35, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
3rd Battalion 3rd Marines featured on the USMC Portal
Check out the updates for March to the Marine Corps Portal. (I went with your first photo suggestion afterall.) — ERcheck (talk) 01:05, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
Battle of Badr
Palm dogg, I'm trying to quit WP. It's breaking my heart, just like it's broken yours. You write a good, fair article and immediately the people with agendas arrive to munge it. The Shi'a are trying to rewrite early Islamic history, Hizb ut Tahrir is marching all over any articles dealing with the caliphate, the Islamophobes want to plaster pictures of Muhammad everywhere, just to show those dang Muslims that we don't care what they think!, the Indian and Pakistani nationalists are mano-a-mano ... if people are killing each other over anything in real life, they play out their conflicts here too.
If you have the heart to try to fight the tide, and want quotes from Ibn Ishaq, I have Guillaume's reconstruction/translation in English. I also have the relevant volume of Al-Tabari in the SUNY edition. Email me (klofstrom@gmail.com) if you need quotes from either. Zora 00:26, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think Larry Sanger has what it takes to nurture a new community. I haven't been too impressed by his public comments, or what has leaked about Citizendium. But I could be wrong. I'd like to be wrong. If you trust your friend, give it a try and tell me how it turns out. Zora 04:14, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Can you help?
Dear Palm dogg, can you please help in solving this dispute. I wish to file an arbitration case sometime soon and need help. --- A. L. M. 09:22, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you. :). heading into the woods sounds good. --- A. L. M. 14:57, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
AfD
I have nominated Stephen Boada for deletion, see the discussion page and do join in. Sorry but it seems to me that receiving a Silver Star is not sufficient reason for an encyclopedia article. IvoShandor 09:40, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
You'll see i responded on the talk page. i agree that some cuttign dsown is needed, but i don't think the list of character2 is a good spin-out. However, anyone can remove a Prod tag, so if you disagree, simply remove the tag. DES (talk) 09:30, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
Congratulation on FA for 3/3

Re: Recommended Books?
Regarding your query on WP:HAWAII, I'm going to take a second look at Kamehameha, by Walter F. Judd to see if it has the information you need. There's also The Warrior King by Richard Tregaskis, and Kamehameha and his warrior Kekuhaupio by Stephen L. Desha (translated by Frances N. Frazier). BTW, I'm doing research on Niihau, and I ran across the Battle of Pali Kamakaua, which is extremely obscure but very interesting if you can find any information on it. —Viriditas | Talk 02:35, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the link to Pali Kamakaua, but unfortunately, that link copies the information from the book I have! I think I'm going to have to start searching through the non-circulating library materials, which can be very productive. I've found a lot of information about Polynesian navigation that way, but I haven't had time to add it to that article just yet. —Viriditas | Talk 08:54, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
I have some books borrowed from the library that will help you with the article. Coincidentally, I'm doing research on the subject. Reply if you're interested! Sr13 23:33, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
- I'm thinking of greatly improving the article because most of the content is unreferenced original research. I'll add these books as citations later in the article. Here goes:
- The Hawaiian Kingdom (1778-1854), by Ralph S. Kuykendall, c. 1938
- The Warrior King, by Richard Tregakis, c. 1973
- Kamehameha and his Warrior Kekuhaupio, by Stephen L. Desha, c. 2000
- Hawaii's Royal History, by Helen Wong, c. 1987
- Ruling Chiefs of Hawaii, by Samuel Kamakau, c. 1992
- And three I couldn't find, but may be helpful:
- An account of the Polynesian Race..., by Abraham Fornander, c. 1969
- The Napoleon of the Pacific, by Herbert Gowden, c. 1919
- Kamehameha the Great, by Paea Kamaka, c. 1966
That's all I have for now. Sr13 23:50, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

Hood event GAN sweeps: On Hold
Members of the GA WikiProject have been holding sweeps to determine if all current GAs meet the requirements of the GA criteria. I have been reviewing all of the "Conflicts, battles and military exercises" articles, and after looking over Hood event, there are several things that need to be addressed for the article to remain a GA. You can see the review on the talk page of the article. The issues should be quick to fix and I'll leave the article on hold for seven days until they are addressed. If they are not addressed in this time, then the article may lose its GA status. The article can be renominated at WP:GAN again later once the issues are addressed and the criteria is met. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. --Nehrams2020 22:18, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
- FYI. Looks like the article passed and remains a GA. See this permalink. — ERcheck (talk) 03:33, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

I, Girolamo Savonarola (talk), hereby award Palm dogg the WikiProject Films Award for his/her valued contibutions to WikiProject Films. Awarded retrospectively for being instrumental in making an article of the WikiProject Films core list (Triumph of the Will) into a featured article.

Triumph of the Will is currently nominated for 0.7 release of wikipedia on DVD for all the poor people who have no or a very slow internet. However, we encountered the problem that some sections are not properly referenced. Can you improve this until 20 October 2008? Thanks a lot. Greetings Wandalstouring (talk) 15:28, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
Ran
Since you have worked very hard on Ran, I am obligated to inform you that I have nominated Ran for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Remove" the article's featured status.
