Genres

[edit]

Hi. I wanted to explain why I reverted an edit you made. I saw you added a few genres to The Equalizer 2. The problem is that MOS:FILM tells us to just stick to the primary genre in the opening sentence. Adding a lot of extra genres just turns the opening sentence into something akin to word salad. Other genres can be added to categories (if sourced in the body) or mentioned elsewhere, but it's not really necessary to have more than one or two genres in the opening sentence. One way to keep genres under control is cite them to a reliable source, which is what we've done in this article for thriller film. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 03:53, 21 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

"Former cast"

[edit]

Hi there, re: this, please don't move cast members into "Former cast" sections. We do not discard cast members just because they've left the series. We still have an academic interest in the people who were on the series and knowing how prominent their roles were. Consider also that if a series ended, you'd have to put everybody into the Former cast section, which would just be silly. See WP:TVCAST for more guidance on TV cast sections. Thank you. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:05, 17 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

As you have previously been told, "Former" is not a valid subsection. We still care about cast members, even after they have left the series, so this edit is not constructive. If you want to run a fan website where you catalog all of the current people in the cast, feel free, but at Wikipedia, we present the entire history of the cast preserving their prominence in the series. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Pyaar Ko Ho Jaane Do, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Romance and Thriller (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Information icon Hello, I'm Slightlymad. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Drive (2011 film), but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Hello, Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Underworld (film series) seemed less than neutral and has been removed. If you think this was a mistake, or if you have any questions please post on the article's talk page].

The date listed in Underworld (film series) is the initial release date, which was international not US. There no restriction to the US release date as far as I can tell. Try to provide an edit summary with your reason(s) for the change also. -Fnlayson (talk) 22:20, 2 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Cyphoidbomb. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Ghayal: Once Again have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the help desk. Diff: This edit is indistinguishable from vandalism. You remove actual useful information like the language the film was produced in, and replace it with the ridiculously repetitive "action drama" genre. Action films are typically dramas. Don't waste space in the lead with this redundant language, and don't add any more unsourced genres, as they will result in your editing privileges being revoked. Nobody cares what you personally consider a film's genre to be. We only care what *most* sources think the film's primary genre is. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 05:17, 10 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 31 hours for persistently adding unsourced or poorly sourced content. As a courtesy, I am only blocking you for 31 hours since some of your edits have been constructive. But if the unsourced, interpretive genre additions continue, the next block will be for much longer. A genre is what most sources consider the film to be, and you need to demonstrate that with references. Some examples of your problematic edits: Here you change historical drama to political thriller with no reference or explanation. Here you again add the repetitive language "action drama" and disruptively delete important information about the film's production language. Here you add "neo-noir" again, unsourced. What majority of sources consider that film a "neo-noir crime thriller"? Stick to primary genre, per MOS:FILM. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Cyphoidbomb (talk) 14:54, 10 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Ghayal (1990 film). Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Do not remove the information on the language of the film Fylindfotberserk (talk) 10:45, 24 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 2 weeks for persistently making disruptive edits, like continuing your repeated insistence to use the redundant "action drama" genre to articles and your unexplained removal of very important language content here. Since you don't seem interested in talking, I have extended this block to 2 weeks to perhaps encourage you to respond to this message. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions, but if the disruptive changes continue, the next block will be far longer.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Cyphoidbomb (talk) 02:39, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
