I am an exiled 6th-generation Londoner living in [[Hampshire]], England. I have worked as a [[Town Planning|Town Planner]] in London and in the computer industry in the [[Thames Valley]]. Currently contributing randomly, as and when time permits.

==Interests== 
* Local history, particularly the industrial history of [[London]] and the [[Port of London]]. As a geographer I take a wide definition of London, including Greater London, the surrounding area where the economy is closely linked to London, its port and airports, and the wide ring of towns grown large due to London leap-frogging the artificial constriction of the [[Green belt (UK)|greenbelt]].
* Computing. I've messed about with computers on and off since my first [[Digi-Comp I]] in 1967, did a Postgrad Diploma in Computing in the 1980s and a Masters in [[GIS]] in the 90s. Along the way owned [[ZX80]], [[ZX81]], [[ZX Spectrum]] and numerous PCs from [[CP/M]] onwards, and worked with [[Vax]], [[International Computers Limited|ICL]] and [[IBM]] mainframes, [[Unix]] and [[embedded system|embedded]] systems.
* Science, particularly [[geomorphology]], [[geology]], [[evolution]] and [[climate change]].
* Photography. I've been taking photos for about 40 years and got my first [[digital SLR]] in 2005. Quite a few of my photos have been added to Wikipedia or Commons either by me or by others from the [[Geograph British Isles|Geograph project]].
