Hello, GA Cup competitors!

Thursday saw the end of Round 2. {{U|Sainsf}} once again took out Round 2 with an amazing score of 996 (a higher score then he received in Round 1!). In second place, {{U|MPJ-DK}} earned an astounding 541 points, and in third place, Carbrera received 419 points.

In Round 2, 142 reviews were completed!  At the beginning of April, there were 486 outstanding nominations in the GAN queue; by the end of Round 1, there were 384.  Another demonstrable way in which this competition has made a difference is in the length of time articles languish in the queue.  At the beginning of this GA Cup, the longest wait was over 9 months [https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Good_article_nominations/Report&oldid=707697743]; at the end of Round 2, the longest wait had decreased significantly, to a little over 5 months.[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Good_article_nominations/Report]  It's clear that we continue to make a difference at GAN and throughout Wikipedia, something we should all be proud of.  Thanks to all our competitors for helping to make the GA Cup a continued success, and for your part in helping other editors improve articles.  We hope to see all remaining users fighting it out in Round 3 so we can keep lowering the backlog as much as possible.

To qualify for the third round, contestants had to earn the two highest scores in each of the four pools in Round 2; plus, one wildcard. We had an unusual occurrence happen in Round 2: because only one contestant submitted reviews in one pool, we selected the contestant with the next highest score to move forward to Round 3.  (There will be a rule change for future competitions in case something like this happens again.)  For Round 3, users were placed in 3 random pools of 3. To qualify for the Final of the 3rd Annual GA Cup, the top user in each pool will progress, and there will also be one wildcard. This means that the participant who comes in 4th place ('''all pools combined''') will also move on. Round 3 will start on '''May 1 at 0:00:01 UTC''' and end on '''May 29 at 23:59:59 UTC'''. I expanded '''the graph''' to maximum size , and aligned it to the centre, because it seemed to me that, it could give a '''better visualization about what's goes-on in a stereophonic sound.''' 
And the '''other image''', was slightly increased than default; '''just because it is a diagram.''' 

Not only for this page, '''where-ever in Wikipedia''' I encounter diagrams , '''whose labelings are not visible at-a-glance, or difficultly readable''', I '''try to increase''' the image size. I didn't knew well about wikipedia's terms and conditions about image size (i'm '''not''' experienced user) , and i don't know whether those edits by me are being maintained or not.

While reading a scientific text, clicking on the diagrams all the time (to read the labelings) , is quite irritating.

In-fact many critical things actually '''may remained unnoticed''' if someone '''read''' a scientific text , '''not matching it with the diagram'''. And also,  several times while reading Wiki pages i've noticed i've missed a diagram (didn't click on a diagram), Just because i couldn't read some labelings of the diagram at-a-glance, so didn't realize the importance. (think about a person trying to understand a phenomenon, thinking, scribbling on paper, flipping pages of books & websites, obviously be benefited if the person could realize, clicking on which link would reach to stronger  answer.  Or  think about  a non-expert , say a kid, is reading a topic. Normally it could fail to decide click on an image, and thereafter correlating the thought with text. (especially on a topic like stereophonic sound ... about which, the kid may be already preoccupied with a lots of popular '''mis'''conceptions like stereophonic gadgets contain 2 speaker {{ strikethrough| to increase loudness}}  et cetera. )

However I've nothing to do if  the sizes flouted rules and regulations. But , I always think, diagrams should appear in properly readable sizes. Surprisingly, there exists a trend to show photographs in larger size and diagrams in smaller size. But the thing should be opposite (with exceptions also).

And, frankly, these guidelines aren't employed in some articles (whereas they should be) due to less scrutiny and overall article quality. Apologies for any edits that are incorrect or such, but in relation to the film The Gallows (2015), a slasher film defined here is put as- In Games of Terror: Halloween, Friday the 13th and the Films of the Stalker Cycle, Vera Dika defines the slasher as having a repeated plot structure, theorizing that all slasher films adhere to the following formula in one way or another.[2] According to Dika, the plot of a slasher film is always influenced by a past event in which the film's community, often teenage characters, commits a wrongful action, or the killer experiences some sort of severe trauma.[2] The present day plot typically involves the opposing objectives of both a killer and a hero/heroine. Slasher films often begin with a commemoration of this important past event[2] - an anniversary that somehow reactivates or re-inspires the killer. Often, the victim in a slasher film survives, but is maimed somehow by their experience with the film's killer.[2]

Combining multiple sources to reach a conclusion of your own is not acceptable per [[WP:SYNTH]]. I can find more substantial sources if you wish, but the film in review, analysis and it's own promotion by Warner Bros is fashioned a found footage slasher horror film, the sole focus of the film is four different teenagers, three associated with each other in terms of friendship and a relationship, and one by romantic interest. The film following the death of the masked, killer antagonist at the beginning who himself died at a teenage age at the same high school goes in duration as the found footage of these teenagers lives prior to their Beatrice High School entrapment, and eventual deaths by Charlie Grimille.
The source collider.com and their article on the film contains extracts from interviews with the directors/writers Chris Lofing and Travis Cluff stating their inspiration from slasher films in making The Gallows.

The special feature I am referencing on the bluray exclusive special features of the film (searched online with Google Videos for it but could not find nothing but Google Search references to the feature) is entitled Charlie, Charlie.

While some of them do mention that the movie is mainly target for teens, some don't; however, after doing a quick Google search I too was able to find a good amount of sources that indicate the movie is indeed targeted primarily at teens. So, all in all, I guess there is no harm in categorizing the article under ''teen horror''. Make sure to cite sources where necessary. Hello, GA Cup competitors!

Tuesday saw the end of Round 3. {{U|Sainsf}}, for the third time, won with a sizable 487 points and a shocking 29 articles reviewed. In second, MPJ-DK had 168 points and 7 reviewed articles. In second place, {{U|MPJ-DK}} earned 168 points with just 7 articles, and in third place, {{U|Carbrera}} received 137 points with just 9 articles.  Our two wildcard slots went to {{U|J_Milburn|J Milburn}} with 122 points and {{U|Sturmvogel_66|Sturmvogel 66}} with 101 points.

In Round 3, 65 reviews were completed!  At the beginning of the GA Cup, there were 595 outstanding nominations in the GAN queue; by the end of Round 3, there were 394.  Another demonstrable way in which this competition has made a difference is in the length of time articles languish in the queue.  At the beginning of the GA Cup, the longest wait was over 9 months [https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Good_article_nominations/Report&oldid=707697743]; at the end of Round 3, the longest wait had decreased significantly, to a little over 5 months [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Good_article_nominations/Report]—nothing before 2016. It's clear that we continue to make a difference at GAN and throughout Wikipedia, something we should all be proud of.  Thanks to all our competitors for helping to make the GA Cup a continued success, and for your part in helping other editors improve articles. To qualify for the Finals, contestants had to earn the highest scores in each of the three pools in Round 3; plus, as well as the top 2 of all remaining users in all of the pools. How does one accept one's own edits on a protected article? Specifically, I'm automatic, but if someone who is not makes an edit and I make one afterward, my edit also will show as "pending review". Hello to our truly awesome GA Cup competitors!

Thursday, June 30 saw the end of the 2016 GA Cup.  It was a huge success.  In the final, our five competitors reviewed an astonishing 207 articles, the most in any GA Cup final thus far.  We continue to reach our goals and make a substantial impact in how quickly articles are reviewed for GA status.  On March 1, the start of this competition, the article longest in the queue had languished there since June 26, 2015 [https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Good_article_nominations/Report&oldid=707697743]; in the July 1, 2016 list, the average wait length is just four months [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Good_article_nominations/Report].  It's clear that we continue to make a difference at GAN and throughout Wikipedia, something we should all be proud of.  Thanks to all our competitors for their enthusiasm, and for helping to make the GA Cup a continued success.  Remember that most articles can't even be considered for FA status unless it's been passed to GA first, so our efforts have created hundreds of potentials FAs.  That is, as they say, a big deal.

The final this time represented a real horse race between our 1st and 2nd place winners.  First-time competitor (who had won all previous rounds) {{U|Sainsf}} earned an impressive 1456 points with 91 articles reviewed during the final. Close behind, in second place was {{U|Carbrera}}, also a first-time competitor, reviewed the most articles (94).  Their enthusiasm was a treat to witness.  Congrats to you both!

The competition went relatively smoothly, with very little drama this time.  We had to clarify one rule: in order for the points to count, you must mark your reviews as completed; it's not up to the judges to ensure that all reviews are completed by the end of a round.  We were strict about adhering to this clarification, especially at the end of the final.  We intend on stressing it in the stated rules for our next competition, which will be announced soon, so watch out for it.  We also intend on applying for a grant through Wikimedia to include gift certificates for our winners, to further incentivize the GA Cup.

{{U|MrWooHoo}} should receive special recognition for acting as our main judge, and for stepping in for the rest of the judges when real-life busyness took over.  He reviewed the majority of the submissions during our final round.  Thanks for your hard work, and for the hard work of all our judges.  We look forward to the next competition.
