[[Japanese invasion money]] (formally Southern Development Bank notes) was issued during [[World War II]] by the [[Empire of Japan]] to replace local hard currencies.  Japanese invading forces issued these notes in [[Japanese government-issued rupee in Burma|Burma]], [[Japanese government-issued dollar in Malaya and Borneo|Malaya and Borneo]], the [[Japanese government-issued currency in the Netherlands Indies|Netherlands Indies]], [[Japanese government-issued Oceanian Pound|Oceania]], and the [[Japanese government-issued Philippine peso|Philippines]].
