== It's older than 1995 ==

At University we had a similar "slap with a wet fish" emote on our text-based MUD at University of Leeds in 1991 and I dare say it was around before then on green screens. I think the early MUDs started in the 1970's. It was possible to play online between UK universities using UNIX commands to make the login. Emotes were like an early form of emoji. Maybe this counts as "Original Research" as I am one of those originally around before the www went live in 1993. :-) Oh, and this smiley is just as old too.
