I don't believe French has a dedicated word for Rattlesnake. The French Language page for the Crotale Missile says it is a homonym with Pit Vipers. https://fr.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crotale_(homonymie) Confusingly, Crotalidae is the Latin for subfamily Pit Viper, and Crotalus is the Latin for the one of the two genuses of Rattlesnake.
