The waveform heard by the listener is analog, from an analog oscillator, which is only stabilised to stop it going out of tune by a digital component. This does not make the sound generation digital, as it is generated by analogue circuitry. undo

A hybrid synth is referring to a synth with digital OSC, followed by an analogue filter. A DCO is NOT the same as a digital OSC. undo
