Per Larson, in antiquity it was Meliae that came to be the general term (283 n31). Removed a sentence which (again, per Larson) is more relevant to hamadyrads specifically, and another which is patently false based on recorded greek myth. Removed sentence about caryatids: no source considers them nymphs. undo
