  • curprev 18:1518:15, 4 October 2024 Reddog78 talk contribs 10,393 bytes +1,158 Two Little Girls In Blue was originally published by Spaulding & Kornder in 1893. As the article states that Gray brought the rights to the song and made money (and not Kornder), and there is notated music with Spaulding & Gray from same year, it would follow that Spaulding & Kornder published it first. Added this to notes section. Info about the Volunteer Organist. Down Went McGinty reference giving year of publish, address of publisher and name. Article details that Spaulding had 2 children. undo
  • curprev 16:2116:21, 4 October 2024 Reddog78 talk contribs 9,235 bytes −1 Career: The Volunteer Organist, Take Back The Engagement Ring, and When You Know The Girl You Love, Loves You, were each collaboratively composed by Gray and Spaulding. In respect of The Volunteer Organist, Spaulding composed the music, Gray did the words. In respect of the other two songs, it just says on the sheet music: "by W. B. Gray and G. L. Spaulding". undo
  • curprev 11:0411:04, 4 October 2024 Reddog78 talk contribs 9,236 bytes +387 Separated Career section into paragraphs. Added about Spaulding & Kornder having success with Down Went McGinty. The article states "C. Minor" saw "Dug" , and his son "representing the firm of Spaulding & Kornder of McGinty publishing fame" was with him. undo
  • curprev 10:2610:26, 4 October 2024 Reddog78 talk contribs 8,849 bytes −184 I think the word "songwriter" should be in the description, as that is what he was, aswell as composing music for songs, and purely instrumental music. Deleted part of the sentence about My Mary Green and the success of it encouraging him to carry on being a songwriter, and vowing never to sell his songs to another music publisher. undo

  • curprev 22:5922:59, 3 October 2024 Reddog78 talk contribs 9,033 bytes +417 Career: It isn't true that he wrote Mary Green, then decided to go into music publishing with Kornder. They were publishing songs by 1888. The song gives their address on the front page and lists Spaulding & Kornder as publishers.. undo
  • curprev 20:1920:19, 3 October 2024 Reddog78 talk contribs 8,616 bytes +399 Full name was George Lawson Spaulding. From the marriage article clipping via Newspapers.com: "The recent marriage of Mr. George Lawson Spaulding to Miss Eva Bronson Wood was a most pleasant affair". - https://www.newspapers.com/article/brooklyn-eagle/25329300/. Changed "Marriage" to "Marriage and personal life" in order to add a little more information. undo
  • curprev 18:0018:00, 3 October 2024 Reddog78 talk contribs 8,217 bytes +4 Family and early life: Just changed the wording of one sentence, so that two sentences one after the other don't begin with the word "After". undo
  • curprev 17:5217:52, 3 October 2024 Reddog78 talk contribs 8,213 bytes +709 Included death section. Included "When You Know The Girl You Love, Loves You" as another one of Spaulding and Gray's popular sons (detailed as one in his obituary from the Reading Eagle). Added Marriage section with a reference from Family Search. The Newburgh Daily Journal article also mentions him marrying Eva, so I added that as a reference. undo
  • curprev 16:5816:58, 3 October 2024 Reddog78 talk contribs 7,504 bytes −3 Career: Changed the title of Baltimore Sunday Herald Reference to "Untitled" (because it has no title). Added the word "composed" to the pretty jessie Moore sentence to improve the grammar. Changed the sentence relating to how much money was generated from the Fatal Wedding song sales. The article sates "just as much if not more than (Two Little Girls In Blue)". undo

  • curprev 16:3216:32, 3 October 2024 Reddog78 talk contribs 7,508 bytes +2,692 Added a little more to the description. Added "Early life and family section". Added information from his biography in the Newburgh Journal, 23 February 1895, page 3. Added the section "Career". More information from same article. His partnership with Kordner. His partnership with William B. Gray. Baltimore Sunday Herald article has no title to it. But it details Spaulding's partnership with William B. Gray, 3rd paragraph in from left.. undo
