Alexander's claim of "narrow and exaggerated" is simply the choice of focusing on a British volunteer for a protagonist as a storytelling device. Alexander's claim of "partisan" is the story being anti-fascist and anti-Stalinist. Alexander was politically a marxist-Leninist. This is not a valid criticism.
