Neunkirchen is a common place name in Germany. Taken literally the name can mean "nine churches", but historically it is usually a contraction of "bei der neuen Kirche", lit. "by the new church". Some Wikipedia articles for other places with the same name also have an explanatory note to this effect, e.g. Neunkirchen am Potzberg. undo Tags: Reverted Visual edit
