The term Greenwich Meridian Time(GMT) was used, and is defined based upon Earth's rotation. A committee was formed which named the same GMT to UTC (Co-ordinated Universal Time), which was more generic. UTC because it is based upon oscillators, not Earth's rotation, needs corrections unlike GMT which is based purely on Earth's rotation. undo Tag: Undo
