May 01 :: Inquiry about Theme Hospital GA2 Review
Hi,

Thanks for reviewing the article. It's months overdue.

I hope I've fixed the flow issues with the third paragraph, although I wasn't sure how to better introduce the reputation mechanic. I just hope my changes did that too. As for an additional screenshot, I'm not sure another gameplay screenshot will comply with NFCC. I can't find a screenshot of the developers or the game early in development online, although I have access to articles in the Bullfrog Bulletin and Edge magazines that have some of the latter. Should I scan one? I don't see how else I can obtain one. If so, I might do the same for Dungeon Keeper if and when I return, as I'm hoping maybe to get that to FA. :Adam9007 I think I should be able to excuse the image criteria. There are circumstances in which images may be difficult to upload. As for the rest of the changes, I will evaluate them on most likely the 6th of May. From what you've written here, I can foresee Theme Hospital being a GA status. Hi,

Thanks for reviewing the article. You say "Breakfast" is not an environment (Line 1, Para 1, Gameplay), but the article says environments such as breakfast and pool tables,. I thought that it is clear that "breakfast" here means breakfast tables? They're not separated by a comma, whereas the other items in the list are. Adam9007 (talk) 16:14, 7 May 2017 (UTC)
: Adam9007 Upon reading I thought it sounded a little weird. It does make it clear in the paragraph that the environment is a breakfast table but the actual sentence states just "breakfast". This is such a minor thing, so I don't really care, but if it was upto me, I would include some distinguishable. == May 26 :: Request to give opinion in Flappy Bird's listing on List of video games notable for negative reception ==
Hey, Manfred, I wanted to ask you something. There's a ongoing talk page discussion at Talk:List of video games notable for negative reception over whether or not the video game Flappy Bird meets the inclusion criteria for the list. It's currently a 2-versus-2 situation, so nothing will happen according to WP:NOCONSENSUS. Could you cast a tie-breaking vote? Here are the arguments:
*The argument for Flappy Birds inclusion on the list surrounds the fact that it was poorly received by journalists, despite its popularity. The argument for inclusion is strengthened by the fact that many of the journalists who covered the game portrayed it in a negative way were from non-VG RSes, such as The Washington Post and CNET, and that it got a few abysmal ratings from VG RSes, like USgamer's 1/5.
*The argument against Flappy Bird is that some feel it wasn't negatively received enough. The game does have a Metacritic score that's above 50% (although the GameRankings score is lower than 50 at 48.17%), and had positive user feedback from players.
Hope you can help. ~ TheJoebro64 (talk) 11:46, 26 May 2017 (UTC)

Jun 07 :: Inquiry about changes to plot summary of Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter (Nintendo DS)
Wondering what the reasoning was for removing all information on the alternate ending.
"An alternate ending can be encountered where, rather than a car crash putting Mike in a coma, it is shown that Mike and Heather were chasing fireflies and Mike climbed up and fell from a tree. Many claim that this ending is only available on the "Drawn to Life Collection" cartridge, which contains both Drawn to Life games. However, it is possible to get this ending on certain single copies of Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter. There has been much speculation suggesting that the changed ending here is a result of the player's answers to the question "What do you remember of that night?" at the beginning of the game, but it is also possible that the publishers of the game released new versions of the original cartridge with the changed ending, due to the original being too dark for kids. No official statement has been made on the subject." <!-- Template:Unsigned IP --><small class="autosigned">—&nbsp;Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.136.208.198 (talk) 21:24, 6 June 2017 (UTC)</small> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->
: Hello 67.136.208.198 The reason why I removed the ending of the paragraph was because it makes the Plot section overly long and the extra information is not needed. Usually, in a video games article, alternate endings would be included in the Plot section, yet it was not necessary, as it was not included in the original game. However, I can't leave vital information such as a re-release out of the article, so I will include information about its alternate release in the Development section, as Development covers topics like development, release, budget, and company issues. Apologies for not including reasoning in the edit summary. ~ <span style="color: pink">Manfred</span> <span style="color: pink">(talk page)</span> 06:46, 7 June 2017 (UTC)

Jun 19 :: Comment on change revert of The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages
I'm on the Wikipedia typo team and trying to eliminate the consecutive uses of the word "the." (Many are simple typos, often in redirects. When they're in references with errors, they're getting marked with the 'sic' template.)

Can you reconsider your reversion of my deletion of the duplicate "the" on this page that you did a short time ago? It's a misconception that it's grammatically correct to have two consecutive appearances of the word "the" when it's part of a title that would otherwise be preceded by the definite article. Informal grammar rules are much more forgiving for spoken than written English, but say the sentence that you changed out loud, and you'll see what I mean - it sounds silly. To be consistent, there are several other times on the page where "the" should appear two consecutive times, for instance, "Gameplay of The Legend of Zelda series" but correctly does not. There are also dozens of other Wikipedia pages that mention the Legend of Zelda, which also correctly do not have "the" twice.

When there is an adjective before The Legend of Zelda, it's fine to place "the" before the adjective, such as "the original The Legend of Zelda. So an alternative is to recast the sentence entirely or insert a word, although I don't think that's practical for all the pages that mention The Legend of Zelda series. (And I believe that all uses of Legend of Zelda in the previous sentence and this one are correct, with only one "the").

Regards,

Ira

[edit]

Adam9007 (talk) 16:14, 7 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Adam9007: Upon reading I thought it sounded a little weird. It does make it clear in the paragraph that the environment is a breakfast table but the actual sentence states just "breakfast". This is such a minor thing, so I don't really care, but if it was upto me, I would include some distinguishable. Manfred (talk) 20:51, 7 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

May 26 :: Request to give opinion in Flappy Bird's listing on List of video games notable for negative reception

[edit]

Hey, Manfred, I wanted to ask you something. There's a ongoing talk page discussion at Talk:List of video games notable for negative reception over whether or not the video game Flappy Bird meets the inclusion criteria for the list. It's currently a 2-versus-2 situation, so nothing will happen according to WP:NOCONSENSUS. Could you cast a tie-breaking vote? Here are the arguments:

 • The argument for Flappy Bird's inclusion on the list surrounds the fact that it was poorly received by journalists, despite its popularity. The argument for inclusion is strengthened by the fact that many of the journalists who covered the game portrayed it in a negative way were from non-VG RSes, such as The Washington Post and CNET, and that it got a few abysmal ratings from VG RSes, like USgamer's 1/5.
 • The argument against Flappy Bird is that some feel it wasn't negatively received enough. The game does have a Metacritic score that's above 50% (although the GameRankings score is lower than 50 at 48.17%), and had positive user feedback from players.

Hope you can help. ~ TheJoebro64 (talk) 11:46, 26 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Jun 07 :: Inquiry about changes to plot summary of Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter (Nintendo DS)

[edit]

No official statement has been made on the subject." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.136.208.198 (talk) 21:24, 6 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @67.136.208.198: The reason why I removed the ending of the paragraph was because it makes the Plot section overly long and the extra information is not needed. ~ Manfred (talk page) 06:46, 7 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Jun 19 :: Comment on change revert of The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages

[edit]

Regards,

Ira
