His pupils included the [[Leipzig]] cantor [[Friedrich Doles]]. On the 22 April 1789, Görner assisted [[Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart]] when he played the organ at the church, along with Doles, by manipulating the stops.<ref name=mozartbio/>
