Hello! I noticed that your article finding highly composite numbers has been nominated for deletion, and I was quite impressed by your well-reasoned and polite defense of the article. Unfortunately, the nominator of your article is right that Wikipedia is not a how-to, and your article will probably be deleted. It simply is not the kind of content that Wikipedia is looking for. The reasons for this are somewhat arbitrary, but part of it is that all content on Wikipedia must be verifiable in reliable sources, and how-tos are very hard to find references for.

However, we have a sister project, Wikibooks, which is a collection of free textbooks, and I think it would be glad to have your article. I haven't done much work on Wikibooks, but if you are interested in transferring your article you should look at Subject:Pure mathematics and their documentation on Start a new book.

In any case I am very grateful for your work on Wikipedia so far and I hope you decide to stick around. Wikipedia:WikiProject Mathematics needs knowledgeable editors like you! Cheers, --Cerebellum (talk) 21:16, 10 February 2011 (UTC)

The article Finding highly composite numbers has been proposed for deletion. The proposed-deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

Cheers, --Cerebellum (talk) 21:16, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
