Adorations was released as several version including remixes, and even on cassette. Adorations (the Extended mix) was featured as an A-side on a 12" vinyl, with the B-side of Exile, and Ecstasy (the Extended mix). Both original versions of the songs were originally featured on the CD and cassette releases of Brighter than a Thousand Suns. The single was released under E'G Records in the UK , Virgin Records in Spain, and Virgin Schallplatten GmbH in Germany. Adorations (the Supernatural mix) was also released on a 12" vinyl in the UK and featured Love Like Blood (the '86 Remix) and Exile as B-sides. The 7" vinyl single release feature Adorations, a shortened, non-remixed, version of the original Adorations featured on their studio album, as an A-side, with Exile as its B-side. The single was released in the UK, France, and Spain. E'G Records also released a 7" limited edition double vinyl single exclusively in the UK, and featured the remix of Adorations as the A-side, Exile as the B-side, Ecstasy as the C-side, and Adorations (instrumental mix) as the D-side. The cassette maxi release of Adorations featured Adorations (the Extended mix) and Ecstasy as side one and Exile and Love Like Blood (the'86 Remix) as side two. |

==Reception== |
Adorations was the first taste the world received with this "new sound" that Killing Joke acquired. Though controversial to their previous work, appreciation was somewhat apparent. Kerrang! described Adorations as "a brilliant, uplifting slice of swooning synth romanticism, with Jaz Coleman in full croon. A guilty KJ pleasure if there ever was one.". |
E.G. also released a 7" limited-edition double vinyl single exclusively in the UK featuring the remix of "Adorations" as the A-side, "Exile" as the B-side, "Ecstasy" as the C-side, and "Adorations (Instrumental Mix)" as the D-side. A cassette maxi single was also released. |
What Adorations consisted of appeared throughout Brighter than a Thousand Suns, which overall, was not generally accepted, considering what Killing Joke was all about. As described by Jaz Coleman in a 1991 interview with MTV pertaining to their eighth studio album, Extremities, Dirt & Various Repressed Emotions, "we went through hell." This was primarily due to the fact that managing and producing was dismal, members of Killing Joke did not agree on the material to write, and as a result, Paul Raven and Paul Ferguson were fired in 1988 by Jaz himself. The next four years would come to be a "downfall" for Killing Joke, while releasing two unsuccessful albums, barely any producing, low marketing, and absent appreciation. |

Several blogs and forums have recorded that songs like Adorations, Sanity, and Chessboards are still favored by many fans, even to point that they are personal favorites. Though that may be true, reviewers from Rolling Stone and Allmusic.com have consistently stated that the downfall of Killing Joke began with Adorations. |
