Qardho

Hi Abdirisak. Thanks for the files. I was wondering, though, if perhaps you had a better image available of Qardho? The present one is kind of discordant with the other skyline pics. Best, Middayexpress (talk) 16:04, 27 October 2012 (UTC)

Hello Middayexpress;

Sadly the only picture I have taken was bad as battery was knackered, But my next trip over there I will get some detailed images of many towns, in the mean I hope Some one else can come up with images from Qardho, it is big town so there must be some one with some pictures of that town.. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Abdirisak (talkcontribs) 16:16, 27 October 2012 (UTC)

No prob. By the way, let me know if you need any help uploading that Maakhir University logo as a non-free image. We can't upload it as public domain because it's the intellectual copyright of the university. However, there is a specific template that's used in such instances to upload logos, as a fair use file. Best, Middayexpress (talk) 16:29, 27 October 2012 (UTC)
Ok; the logo is all taken care of now. Cheers, Middayexpress (talk) 16:54, 27 October 2012 (UTC)

Your recent edits

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 16:38, 27 October 2012 (UTC)

Input

Hi Abdirisak. As one of the more active and knowledgeable contributors on the Horn of Africa articles, I was wondering if perhaps you wouldn't mind taking a look at the Somalis in the United Kingdom article? An editor has added some material related to race that has been a bone of contention. Specifics can be found here. Best regards, Middayexpress (talk) 15:48, 3 December 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the input. I was wondering if you could perhaps clarify one other thing. By "black" or "madow", are you referring to the dark skin tone? Or do you mean "black" in a racial context, like "jareer" as opposed to "jileec"? Best, Middayexpress (talk) 16:55, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

Thanks,

Yes, the term Madow actually referece to dark tone, not dark skin[Maariin],, for example,Nuunow Madobe, or Adam Madoobe, both men were former members of Somali parliament, also the current leader of Raskamobni brigade in Kismayo is called Ahmed MADOBE, all these men have the common nicknamed, by of being called Adam the Black or Ahmed the Black one because their darkerskin tone and that is nothing to do with their racial or ethnicity, also the The word of Jareer actually means in Somali Afro haired individual and most doest associate with Other Bantu related Africans in Somalia like Somali Bantu in the Southern Somalia, also the word Jileyc or Jileec is basically soft haired individual and sometimes people actually named who ever who is soft haired, timajilac, for example, Ahmed Timajilac, which again is simplY Ahmed the softhair one,. The later two words[jareer and jileec] are used in reference of the status of the HAIR and not the skin colour. I hope I am not confusing you more, there are you go, :-), but let me know if needed more clarification

Abdirisak (talk) 18:17, 4 December 2012.

Thanks for clearing that up sxb. Best wishes, Middayexpress (talk) 18:23, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi again Abdirisak. The editor has now completely removed the British Arab relationship section under the pretext that it is "undue weight", and replaced it with a contentious section titled "Most British Somali's reject 'Arab' label in Census". He has also added questionable material on the Isaaq (he claims one Isaaq leader in British Kenya "acknowledged he was identified as an 'East African Negro'") . The page used to look like this; it now looks like this after his edits. I've explained the situation in detail on the article's talk page. Your input would be greatly appreciated. Best, Middayexpress (talk) 16:56, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

Thanks sxb; you explained the situation perfectly. Cheers, Middayexpress (talk) 16:06, 7 December 2012 (UTC)
Some editor has just reverted your page-correction, if you can believe it. Middayexpress (talk) 16:07, 7 December 2012 (UTC)
We are in agreement. The section is undue, misleading and unimportant. An admin said that we could make edits to the page once consensus has been formed, so please feel free to remove it. Middayexpress (talk) 14:05, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
I've started a discussion on the applicability of the "Black British" categories to Horn African pages. The user attempted to add such a category to the Somalis in the United Kingdom, Category:British people of Somali descent, and other Horn African pages/bios, arguing that Somali, Ethiopian and Eritrean immigrants in Britain are and self-identify as "Black British". On this basis, he has also added some Somali material to the "Black British" article. Your input on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Best, Middayexpress (talk) 18:04, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
Hi Abdirisak. Did you get a chance to look at the post? What do you think? Are we in agreement on this point as well? Please leave your reply there. Cheers, Middayexpress (talk) 14:49, 11 December 2012 (UTC)
We are again in agreement. An admin said that we could make edits to that page as well once consensus has been formed, so please feel free to remove it. Cheers, Middayexpress (talk) 13:42, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi Abdirisak. Heads up on the Rageh Omaar and Nadifa Mohamed pages. Same cat issue/user as last time. Best regards, Middayexpress (talk) 17:31, 23 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
