==Ownership of articles== |
|||
<blockquote>Since no one "owns" any part of any article, if you create or edit an article, you should not sign <nowiki>(~~~~)</nowiki> it. On the other hand, when adding comments, questions, or votes to back end pages, like "Talk" pages, it is good to "own" your text, so the best practice is to sign it. For more editing "do"s and "don't"s, you might want to go through the brief Tutorial. At least with existing pages, you can get an idea of where it's appropriate to add your signature by noting what previous contributors have done. (from [[Wikipedia:No_article_ownership#Don.27t_sign_what_you_don.27t_own|Don't sign what you don't own]])</blockquote> |

Thanks for uploading '''[[:Image:ALAN ROBSON METRO.jpg]]'''. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under [[Wikipedia:Fair use|fair use]], but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our [[Wikipedia:Fair use criteria|first fair use criterion]] in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, [[Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission|requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license]], or by taking a picture of it yourself. |

1. You edit from one account and one account only; |

Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on [[Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#Images.2FMedia|criteria for speedy deletion]]. With respect to your comment about a "threat" being made by my issuing a warning to an IP user. Your comments were quite unhelpful. The user concerned did add the external link I claimed was a commercial one, but then, after I had removed it, removed a site on the grounds that it, too, was commercial when it clearly was not. This is a clear-cut case of disruption, as far as I can see, as the correct way of procedding would have been to open discussions, as you did. hence the immediate warning was justified. ==Image copyright problem with Image:Davidbb.jpg== |
|||
Hi Melonite |
|||
[[Image:Nuvola apps important.svg|32px|left|Image Copyright problem]] |
|||
Thank you for uploading [[:Image:Davidbb.jpg]]. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes [[Wikipedia:Copyrights|copyright]] very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the '''license''' and the '''source''' of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a '''[[Wikipedia:Image copyright tags|copyright tag]]''' to the [[Help:Image page|image description page]]. |

Apologies for not responding sooner. |

[[David Cameron]] (and other articles, e.g. [[Gordon Brown]] have been highly active articles today, due to events in the UK. This was anticipated, and it was expected that a large amount of [[WP:CRYSTAL|speculation]] and [[WP:OR|guessing]] would be added to these articles - as, in fact, was the case. Reverts made by myself and others were to address this. I believe this was preferable to seeking full-protection to these articles, or allowing the articles to descend into speculation and original research. Discussions did take place on the respective talk pages, however in situations like this - involving large numbers of inexperienced editors - expecting everyone to read the talk pages is unrealistic. The approach I took - and others took - was to revert and then post to the editors concerned explaining why they had been reverted. |
|||
==Unspecified source for [[:Image:Davidbb.jpg]]== |
|||
I am fully aware of [[WP:3RR]] but believe in situations like this [[WP:IAR]] should apply, in order to accommodate [[WP:OR]] and [[WP:CRYSTAL]]. |
|||
Thanks for uploading '''[[:Image:Davidbb.jpg]]'''. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the [[copyright]] status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged. |
|||
Cheers, [[User:TFOWR|<b style="color:#000">TFOWR</b>]][[User talk:TFOWR|<span style="color:#f00">This flag once was red</span>]] 00:23, 12 May 2010 (UTC) |

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{Tl|GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the [[GFDL]]. If you believe the media meets the criteria at [[Wikipedia:Fair use]], use a tag such as {{tlp|non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at [[Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use]]. See [[Wikipedia:Image copyright tags]] for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. |

Thanks for adding characters to the [[Changdao Islands]] article. However, characters are only necessary for the title, unless they serve a disambiguation function. Normally, where another article is linked, such as [[Penglai City]], characters are unnecessary as that article will have characters in its own lead sentence. The same editor who "can't be bothered" to create 60 articles on each of the Central American countries and is uploading many images to the commons to make the first step in expanding our lacking coverage of buildings in this region? The fact that it is a performaing arts theatre, archaeological museum, political conference centre etc was enough to assert notability. Regarding your suggestion to merge Sahmyook Foods into the [[Seventh-day Adventist Church]] article and it being not up to Wikipedia's notability requirements, Sahmyook Foods is one of the largest health food producers in the entire South Korea. Its product are exported to countries all over Asia and it has a market share of over 25% in health foods. I will remove the templates from Sahmyook Foods as it is of sufficient notability and can not be merged into the church's article as it is not related to its content. |

Provisional unblock
[edit]The Ban Appeal Subcommittee has considered your appeal and decided to provisionally suspend your ban for three months, subject to the following terms:
1. You edit from one account and one account only; 2. You abide strictly by sockpuppetry policy, especially the provisions of WP:SHARE. The onus is on you to ensure that your editing and the editing of your colleagues does not overlap. 3. You accept that your account will be checkusered from time to time to verify compliance. 4. If the three months pass without incident, the unblock automatically becomes permanent.
As you have now accepted these terms by email, your account has been unblocked.

[edit]Hi there, I'm here to inform you that I've removed the speedy tag you placed in EasyPizza because the result of the discussion was not delete; in fact, it was withdrawn by the nominator. Orphaned non-free image (File:Pmn logo.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Pmn logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. FileBot (talk) 20:36, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
Hi Melonite
Apologies for not responding sooner.
David Cameron (and other articles, e.g. Gordon Brown have been highly active articles today, due to events in the UK. This was anticipated, and it was expected that a large amount of speculation and guessing would be added to these articles - as, in fact, was the case.
I am fully aware of WP:3RR but believe in situations like this WP:IAR should apply, in order to accommodate WP:OR and WP:CRYSTAL.
Cheers, TFOWRThis flag once was red 00:23, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
Non-free rationale for File:Missing Claudia Lawrence.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Missing Claudia Lawrence.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 22:35, 11 August 2011 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
