Hamlet is a Leasath Army Special Forces Unit. During the war with Aurelia, they attacked the Aurelian city of Santa Elva with the nerve gas Cynocrine, indiscriminately endangering thousands of lives if it meant possession of the city as it was a vital transport route for both armies. This, however, can be prevented if the player chooses to silence them and allied forces at the Kalana Steppes.

Erusea's army mainly uses NATO equipment. Like the rest of the Erusian military, it is large and powerful, and was able to conquer the Usean Continent. M1 Abrams and BMP-3s make up most Erusian ground forces encountered in-game. Artillery is provided by M270 MLRSs and M110 Self-Propelled Howitzers. On the Usean continent, Erusea stands out because of the ace pilots in its Air Force. The military as a whole is very well equipped with American, Russian and European equipment.

The militaries of the nations and organizations in the Ace Combat video game series feature real-world hardware.

Belka

[edit]

Note: Because Belka is a possible allegory of Nazi Germany, and uses German words for place names, Belkan military branches are sometimes referred to by German names (for example, luftwaffe means air force, hence Belkan Luftwaffe equals Belkan Air Force). For this reason, the German name for each branch of the Belkan military is given.

Belkan Air Force (Belkan Luftwaffe)

[edit]

During the Belkan War of 1995 (Ace Combat Zero) the Belkan Air Force included many elite squadrons, these include:

However, many other aircraft appear in Ace Combat Zero as adversaries.

 • E-767s are operated for airborne-early-warning-and-control. EA-18G Growlers are used for electronic warfare.

Belka also created the XB-0 Hresvelgr, although it was only used by a terrorist organization calling themselves, A World With No Boundaries, after the war.[10]

In Ace Combat 5, the only known Belkan Air Force units are Grabacr and Ofnir squadrons (at first flying F-15S/MTDs and Su-35 Flanker-Es, respectively, but later flying 8 S-32 fighters).

Belkan Army (Belkan Heer)

[edit]

The Belkan Army uses similar weaponry as Yuktobania in both the Belkan and Circum-Pacific Wars, with the exception of the Osean M113 APC. The T-80UD Main Battle Tank, ZSU-23 Shilka mobile anti-aircraft gun, SA-6 Gainful mobile SAM, MIM-23 HAWK fixed SAM, M167 VADS fixed AA guns, and Flak 88 all also appeared as adversaries in Ace Combat 5. Belkan Army aviation includes the AH-64 Apache and CH-47 Chinook. Like the ground units, they were used as Yuktobanian hardware in Ace Combat 5.

Belkan Navy (Belkan Kriegsmarine)

[edit]
Kongo Class DDG

In 1995, Belkan Navy was a very strong force in the Atlantic region. Ironically, almost all classes of vessels were used in Ace Combat 5 by their enemy Yuktobania. While the Belkans have at least one Aircraft carrier,[11] the naval forces encountered in Ace Combat Zero are focused on anti-aircraft warfare. These include the Sovremenny class Guided Missile Destroyer, Kongo class Guided Missile Destroyer, Krivak class Frigate, Kirov class Cruiser, Pegasus class FAC(M) and, anachronistically, a single Type VII U-Boat.[12]

By 2010, probably because it possesses a much smaller coastline, or due to sanctions by the Allied forces, Belka's navy seems considerably reduced. The only ships encountered are gun boats and a Sea Shadow;[13] however, since Grunder Industries produced weapons for Osea in what is now Osean territory, it could be explained that Belkan navy simply wasn't heavily involved in the Circum-Pacific War, and that the Sea Shadow could be Osean or, at least, made for Osea.

Nuclear Arms

[edit]

Belkan is one of four nations known to possess nuclear weapons (the other three being Osea, Erusea, and Yuktobania). Belka is special, however, for producing two special nukes: the V1 Tactical nuke and the V2 MIRV Nuclear Missile, both of which are very powerful. Belka's nuclear weapons share their name with the German V-weapons.

Democratic Republic of Leasath

[edit]

Air Force

[edit]
Roundel of the Leasath Air Force

A-6E Intruder, A-10A Thunderbolt II, AV-8B Harrier II, F-1 Kaizen, F-2A Viper Zero, F-117A Nighthawk, F-15E Strike Eagle, F-16XL, MiG-1.44 Flatpack, and Mirage 2000D attack aircraft assist Leasathian ground forces.

B-52H Stratofortress and B-2s are seen on strategic bombing sorties.

C-5B Galaxy and C-17A Globemaster III transport aircraft appear in various missions.

E-767s provide Leasath forces with AWACS support.

F-4E Phantom IIs, F-15S/MTDs, F-16C Fighting Falcons, F/A-18E Super Hornets, F-22A Raptors, JA 37 Viggens, JAS 39 Gripens, MiG-21-93 Fishbed-Js, MiG-29A Fulcrum-As, MiG-31 Foxhound-As, Tornado F-3s, Su-27 Flanker-Bs, Su-37 Flanker-Fs, Su-47 Firkins, and X-29As are deployed to achieve air superiority.

Leasath's air force was heavily involved in their super weapons program. They operated the Gleipnir and its derivative fighter, the Fenrir. Also, XC-01s were used to transport the Meson Cannon's components.

Alect Squadron

[edit]

Alect Squadron is an elite unit in the Leasath Air Force made up of 6 pilots. During the Aurelian conflict, they flew S-32s, prototypes of the Su-47 Berkut. The player has the option to intercept them at the Danern Straits before they reach Archelon Fortress. Otherwise, they take control of Fenrir. When 4 of the pilots are shot down in 'End of Deception II', a fifth member attempts to retreat to Leaseath mainland, but is stopped before he does so.

[edit]

Leasath's navy uses relatively outdated classes of ships, almost all of which saw action in the Continental War, 16 years before the conflict with Aurelia. This is probably due to the fact that Leasath is not a world power and is recovering from a large civil war. Kitty Hawk Class CVs form the core of a Leasathian fleet, and carry F-35C Lightning IIs, Rafale Ms, and F-14D Super Tomcats. They are escorted by Iowa Class BBs, Ticonderoga Class CGs, Hatakaze Class DDGs, Cassard Class FFGs, Georges Leygues Class FFGs, and La Fayette Class FFGs.

Towada Class AOEs are operated for resupply operations.

Other ships seen in-game are San Giorgio Class LHDs, Los Angeles class SSNs, and Pegasus Class FAC(M)s.

Army

[edit]

M1 Abrams are the most frequently encountered Leasathian units in Ace Combat X. They are supported by HMMWVs, AAV-7s, and M270 MLRS.

Gepards, MIM-23 HAWKs, ADATS, M167 VADS, Flak guns, and RPG-7s are used against airborne targets.

M977 HEMTT and M978 HEMTT transport trucks are targets in a number of missions.

Jeeps[14], Strykers[15], M60 Pattons[16], ZSU-23 Shilkas[17], M198s[18], and T-80UDs[19] appear only in cutscenes.

Army Aviation

[edit]

AH-64A Apaches and CH-47D Chinooks are seen supporting Leasathian units in-game. Mi-24D Hind-Ds[20] and Super Pumas[21] appear only in cutscenes.

Special Forces

[edit]

There are three special forces units operated in the fictional 2020 Aurelian War. Their names are Skylla, Miller and Hamlet Units.

Skylla Unit

[edit]

The Skylla Unit is an elite special forces unit of Leasath Army specialized in anti-aircraft warfare. Although this unit specialized in anti-aircraft warfare, they can also be an offensive team, this is shown in the mission "Wild Card", where after the first wave of the Leasath ground forces were neutralized, they attempted to breach the Aurelian capital's defense perimeter by using their equipment as cruise missile launchers.

They can be seen operating ADATS vehicles, AAVC-7A1s, Gepards and M270s, including F-117s, B-2 stealth bombers and a U-2 Dragon Lady for air support. They are named after the Greek monster Scylla.

Miller Unit

[edit]

The Miller Unit is an elite special forces unit of Leasath Army specialized in blitzkrieg tactics. They can be seen in action in the mission "Last Line of Defense", spearheading their way to Port Patterson. If the player chooses another mission, they must be defeated, without damaging the complex, hiding inside the fuel complex in Port Patterson.

Hamlet Unit

[edit]

Hamlet Unit is a biological warfare special forces team of the Leasath Army. During the Aurelian War, they attacked the Aurelian city of Santa Elva with the chemical agent Cynocrine, indiscriminately endangering thousands of civilian lives if it meant possession of the city as it was a vital transport route for both armies. However, this can be prevented if the player chooses to eliminate them and Leasath forces at the Kalana Steppes.

Emmeria

[edit]

Republic of Emmeria Air Force

[edit]

The Emmerian Air Force closly resembles the U.S. Air Force in Weapons, Uniforms, and Rank.

Like in previous Ace Combats, although a large number of aircraft are available to the player, few are operated by allied NPCs. Unlike past installments, allied NPCs use the same aircraft throughout the game rather than changing to more advanced aircraft later.

Windhover's unit flies F-16C Fighting Falcons, Sky Kid's unit flies Mirage 2000-5s, Hammerhead's unit flies B-52H Stratofortress bombers, and Stingray's unit is assigned to an A-10 Thunderbolt II. The player can refuel from a KC-10 Extender in one mission. Also, two Emmerian E-767s, Ghost Eye and Snake Pit, assist the player. It is unclear if Emmeria fields more varieties of aircraft, although many more can be purchased by the player to use as the game progresses.

Army

[edit]

The Emmerian Army's main battle tank is the Challenger II. Other units in-game are the M113 APCs, Gepard, MIM-23 HAWK, ADATS, and M167 VADS. The Emmerian Army operates CH-47 Chinooks to transport its soldiers, while UH-9s can be seen escorting them, as well as occasionally being drafted to more offensive operations.

Special Forces

[edit]

One group called the Leonid Battalion. They operated in three missions during Anean Continental War, such as retaking the airport during amphibious assault on Ortara, using different route to infiltrate Ragno Fortress in Grageo Canyon and the liberation of Emmerian P.O.W.s during Operation Free Gracemeria, an assault to retake the Emmerian capital that was captured earlier by Estovakian forces.

[edit]

The Emmerian Navy's Second Fleet is seen in-game, though the nation presumably has more naval forces. Her flagship, the Marigold, is a Kirov-class battlecruiser. Her supporting ships are Ticonderoga-class cruisers and Cassard-class frigates. Landing Craft Air Cushions and Whidbey Island-class dock landing ships assist in deploying the Emmerian Army for amphibious operations. One allied Nimitz-class aircraft carrier is seen in-game: the CVN-30. Their naval aviation forces are seen operating F-14D Super Tomcats and F/A-18F Super Hornets (for example, Avalanche's unit), while the player can also land his Rafale M, SU-33 Flanker and even the CFA-44 on the carrier for resupply.

Estovakia

[edit]

Estovakian Air Force

[edit]

Estovakia in general resembles the former Soviet Union in the look of the Estovakian Flag, Weapons, Planes, Uniforms, and Rank.

The Estovakian Air Force deploys the same variety of aircraft as Emmeria, plus a substantial amount of others. These include the F-4E Phantom II, Rafale M, Tornado GR.4, F-2A Viper Zero, F-15E Strike Eagle, F-14D Super Tomcat, F-117A Nighthawk, Typhoon, Su-47 Berkut and F-22A Raptor. The most famous (or infamous) squadron is the Strigon Team, who fly the Su-33 Flankers. Bombers seen in service of the Estovakian Air Force, such as B-52 Statofortress and XB-70 Valkyrie bombers. Supporting assets include E-767, Tornadoes, SR-71 Blackbirds and so-called EA-200 ECM/ESM aircraft. AC-130 Spectres and P-3 Orions are deployed for anti-tank and anti-ship warfare, respectively.

A single CFA-44 Nosferatu prototype was assigned to the Strigon Team at the later stage of their war with Emmeria.

Army

[edit]

The Estovakian Army's main battle tank is the Black Eagle. Other units in-game are the M113 APC, HMMWV, M977 HEMTT, Flak 88, Gepard, MIM-23 HAWK, ADATS, and M167 VADS. Artillery support is provided by M270 MLRSs and M110 Self-Propelled Howitzers. In several missions, they also deploy armoured trains and railroad howitzers.

[edit]

The Estovakian Navy operates the same types of vessels as the Emmerians. These are the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, Kirov-class battlecruiser, Ticonderoga-class cruiser, and Cassard-class frigate. Estovakia also has at least one Iowa-class battleship in service, as the warship makes an appearance defending against the Emmerian operation to take the city of Gracemeria back from Estovakian control.

Aigaion class, Kottos class, and Gyges class airships are also placed under their command. These airships were designed as large seaplanes that can therefore be resupplied on the surface of any large body of water.

Erusea

[edit]
See also Nations and Organizations of Ace Combat - Erusea.

Army

[edit]

Erusea's army mainly uses NATO equipment. Like the rest of the Erusian military, it is large and powerful, and was able to conquer the Usean Continent. M1 Abrams and BMP-3s make up most Erusian ground forces encountered in-game. Artillery is provided by M270 MLRSs and M110 Self-Propelled Howitzers. Anti-aircraft defenses include the Gepard, MIM-23 HAWK, ADATS, Flak 88, and M167 VADS.

Army Aviation

[edit]

Erusian army aviation includes a mix of Russian and American helicopters. AH-64A Apache[22][23], Ka-50 Hokum-A[24][25], and Mi-24D Hind-D[26][27] attack helicopters operate alongside CH-47D Chinook[28] transports.

Erusian Air Force

[edit]

On the Usean continent, Erusea stands out because of the ace pilots in its Air Force. Although Erusea doesn't possess as much a variety of aircraft as Yuktobania or Osea, it makes up for this through skilled pilots. The military as a whole is very well equipped with American, Russian and European equipment.

B-2A Spirits[29], Tu-95 Bear-Gs[30][31] and Tu-160 Blackjacks[32] provide Erusian forces with strategic bombing support. Other aircraft with significant ground-attack capabilities include the F-2A Viper Zero, F-15E Strike Eagle, F-117A Nighthawk, Tornado GR.1, A-10A Thunderbolt II, and AV-8B Harrier II[33]

The FEAF's focus is on air-to-air combat. Fighters seen in-game include the F-4E Phantom II, F-5E Tiger II, F-15C Eagle, F-15S/MTD, F-16C Fighting Falcon, F-22A Raptor, MiG-21bis Fishbed-L, MiG-29A Fulcrum-A, Mirage 2000C, Su-35 Flanker-E, Su-37 Flanker-F, Su-47 Firkin, and EF-2000 Typhoon.

Support aircraft seen in-game include the KC-10A Extender[34], SR-71A Blackbird[35][36], and E-767.[37][38] The FEAF's transport aircraft are C-17A Globemaster IIIs,[39] C-130 Hercules,[40] and V-22 Ospreys.[41]

An XB-70 Valkyrie appear in one mission launching cruise missiles at ISAF landing forces.[42]

The X-02A Wyvern was designed by Erusea's state-run aerospace firm, but apparently did not enter service during the Continental War.

156th TFW

[edit]

Aquila Squadron, the 156th Tactical Fighter Wing, is an elite Erusian fighter squadron featured as the game's primary antagonist, appearing as bosses in several missions. They are nicknamed "Yellow Squadron" because of their callsigns and the yellow wingtips of their aircraft. Aquila Squadron's primary role in the Continental War was to protect Stonehenge, but they were sent to several battles far away from it when Erusian forces were in need of reinforcements.[43] Although they performed well in the beginning of the Continental War, the Erusian Air Force began to transfer in pilots with less combat experience as the war continued. There are two Yellows specifically referenced in the story, Yellow 13 and Yellow 4. Yellow 4 is killed shortly after the destruction of Stonehenge, and Yellow 13 is killed in action over Farbanti during the ISAF invasion of the city.[44] In the game's final mission, Yellow Squadron defends Megalith from ISAF's attack on it.[45] Yellow Squadron flies Su-37 Terminators.

EASA

[edit]

Erusea's state-run aerospace firm. See Organizations of Ace Combat

[edit]

Erusea's navy is seen in several Ace Combat 04 missions. Although much of it is destroyed in ISAF's attack on Comberth Harbor, small groups of Erusean warships are in later missions.

Cassard class ship
Hatakaze class ship

Aegir Fleet

[edit]

Nicknamed the "Invincible Fleet", the Aegir Fleet[61] was station in Comberth Harbor, on the east Usean coast during the Continental War. Most of the names are based on birds or Old English and Norse legends. At that time, it was made up of:

[edit]

The Erusian Naval Air Force operates American, Russian, and European fixed and rotary wing aircraft.

Federal Republic of Aurelia

[edit]
Aurelian Air Force roundel
See also Nations and Organizations of Ace Combat - Federal Republic of Aurelia.

Army

[edit]

Aurelia's army primarily uses the T-80UD throughout the game. AAV-7A1s and HMMWVs appear in a small numbers, as well as CH-47 Chinooks.

Air Force

[edit]

At the beginning of Ace Combat X, the Aurelian Air Force is seen operating F-4E Phantom IIs. They switch to F-5E Tiger IIs, F-16C Fighting Falcons, and later Su-27 Flanker-Bs. In the game's final missions, the player's allies use Rafale Ms, YF-23 Black Widow IIs, and F-22A Raptors. The only allied NPC-exclusive aircraft is the KC-10A Extender.

[edit]

Kitty Hawk Class CVs do not appear in any missions, but the player can take off and land from them if flying a naval aircraft. Like the Leasathian Navy, Hatakaze Class DDGs, Cassard Class FFGs, and Georges Leygues Class FFGs appear most often.

One Aurelian Los Angeles-class submarine known as the "Naiad" appears in the game.

Independent States Allied Forces

[edit]
See also Nations and Organizations of Ace Combat - Independent States Allied Forces.

Army

[edit]

ISAF's Army consists of forces from its member nations. Their primary MBT is the M1 Abrams,[63][64][65] and they use the AAV-7[66][67] for amphibious attacks.

Air Force

[edit]

ISAF's Air Force includes domestic Usean aircraft and imported aircraft. A number of aircraft are never seen in use by ISAF forces except when flown by the player; these are the F-117A Nighthawk, F-15S/MTD, Su-37 Flanker-F, and Su-47 Firkin. In the game's first few levels, ISAF forces fly the F-5E Tiger II and F-16C Fighting Falcon. Throughout the rest of the game, ISAF's air force flies A-10A Thunderbolt IIs, F-2As, F-15C Eagles, F-15E Strike Eagles, F-22A Raptors, MiG-29A Fulcrum-As, Mirage 2000Cs, Su-35 Flanker-Es, Tornado GR.1s, and Typhoons. Aircraft exclusively available to non-player characters are the C-17A Globemaster III[68] , C-130H Hercules[69], KC-10A Extender[70], U-2R (TR-1) Dragon Lady[71], and E-767.

118th TFW

[edit]

ISAF's 118th Tactical Fighter Wing, "Mobius Squadron", was formed after the evacuation of the Usean continent. Mobius Squadron consisted of only Mobius One at first. Although they were initially an insignificant unit within ISAF, Mobius One distinguished the unit by destroying the Stonehenge Turret Network and shooting down an aircraft operated by Yellow Squadron. Known as "The Ribbon" and "The Grim Reaper" to Erusian Forces, Mobius One was an important factor in ISAF's victory in the Continental War. After the war, Mobius One gained nine wingman and Mobius Squadron assisted ISAF ground forces in destroying Megalith. Mobius One later destroyed the Free Erusian insurgency's arms factory alone. Mobius Squadron was based out of North Point, but was deployed to the CV-04 Fort Grace[72] battle group for several operations.

[edit]

Many of ISAF's ships, including it's Ticonderoga class cruisers and Kitty Hawk class carriers are former FCU ships. ISAF operates Kitty Hawk Class CVs. One ISAF Kitty Hawk is seen in-game, the CV-04 Fort Grace. A Ticonderoga Class CG escort is also seen in the game's first cutscene. San Giorgio Class LHDs provide support to amphibious operations and are escorted by Hatakaze Class DDGs and Cassard Class FFGs.

[edit]

The Fort Grace is first seen operating F-4E Phantom IIs. They later transition to F-14A Tomcats, F/A-18C Hornets, and Rafale Ms at the end of the game. The player's X-02 Wyvern can be operated from the Fort Grace, as well.

Osea

[edit]
See also Nations and Organizations of Ace Combat - Osea.

Osea possesses enormous military powers, mainly consisting of "Defense Forces", although technically defense forces do not carry out offensive military strikes. Osea has a large Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and Army that are normally charged with the defense of Osea, that case was made exceptional with the events of Ace Combat 5 when the Osean Defense Forces were pressed into service as a regular military force. Osea possesses the most technologically advanced equipment in the Ace Combat world and also possesses troops and weapons by the millions.

Air Force

[edit]

Like Yuktobania and Erusea, Osea possesses large amounts of real-world military hardware from the U.S., Europe, Russia, and Japan. Although the player can use any aircraft, those canonically used by Osean forces (AI-controlled or seen in cutscenes) include:

 • Osean AWACS, though never seen in cutscenes, you can see an E-2 in one mission.
[edit]
Oliver Hazard Perry class FFG
F-14A Tomcat

The Osean naval fleet consists of mainly American and European ships. Their Navy includes a number of Nimitz-class aircraft carriers, suggesting a strong power-projection capability. The carriers seen in-game are the Barbett, Buzzard, Kestrel, and Vulture. Ticonderoga-class cruisers, which are given names such as Excalibur, Chivalry, and Halcyon[75][76] along with Cassard Class FFGs such as the Cormorant provide the fleet with surface-to-air warfare capabilities while Hatakaze Class DDGs and Oliver Hazard Perry Class FFGs[77] provide surface-to-surface support. Raleigh class LPDs converted into LaSalle class AGFs such as the Andromeda are capable of electronic warfare, and LCACs[78] are used for amphibious landings.

[edit]

Like the OADF's aircraft, very few Osean aircraft that can be used by Ace Combat 5's player are seen in use as AI-controlled units. Canonical aircraft are the F-14A Tomcat (7th Carrier Air wing, 206th Tactical Fighter Squadron), F-35C Lightning II,[79] C-1A Trader,[80] and E-2C Hawkeye.[81]

Marine Corps

[edit]

Osean Marines are seen using CH-47 Chinooks[82][83] and fictional HH-9B helicopters (which appear to be based on MH-60 Pave Hawk/SH-60 Sea Hawk aircraft).

Army

[edit]

The Osean Army occasionally appears in Ace Combat 5. They are usually seen using M1 Abrams, except for M113s[84] in one mission.

Sapin

[edit]
See also Nations and Organizations of Ace Combat - Sapin.

The Kingdom of Sapin's military, while not as strong as its neighbor Osea's, was still an important contributor to the Allied Forces during the Belkan War. After the war, several units from the Sapin military defected to A World With No Boundaries.

Air Force

[edit]

Defectors from Sapin's air force are seen flying J35J Drakens, Rafale Ms, Su-32 Fullbacks.[85]

[edit]

Although never seen in Ace Combat Zero, Sapin's Navy fought in the conflict. They have at least three fleets, one of which was totally destroyed by the Belkan 7th Air Division, 65th Tactical Fighter Squadron.

Ustio

[edit]
See also Nations and Organizations of Ace Combat - Ustio.

Air Force

[edit]
F-16C Fighting Falcon

Like most Ace Combat games, while a large number of aircraft are available to the player, far fewer are flown by NPCs. The Ustian Air Force uses F-1s in the game's early missions, soon switching to F-4E Phantom IIs. Later, the Ustian Air Force is seen using F-20A Tigersharks. In the game's final two missions, Typhoons are operated by the Ustians. An Ustian defector to "A World Without Boundaries" flies an F-35C Lightning II. Ustian mercenaries use F-15C Eagles and F-16C Fighting Falcons throughout the entire game. NPC-only aircraft are the E-767, KC-10A Extender[86][87], and C-17 Globemaster III.[88]

Army

[edit]

Like its Air Force, Ustio has an army that is small compared to its neighbors of Belka and Osea, but still contributed to the Allies' victory in the Belkan War. M1 Abrams are most often seen as Ustian tanks, although T-80UDs appear in one mission. Gepards and humvees appear in a cutscene. [89]

Yuktobania

[edit]
See also Nations and Organizations of Ace Combat - Yuktobania.

Yuktobania possesses an enormous military, almost (if not, as can be interpreted by some dialogue in game, larger) on par with Osea's. Due to its huge army, Yuktobania could be classified as a superpower. Its military is comprised of the Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines and Special Forces.

Air Force

[edit]
MiG-31 Foxhound-A
Su-27 Flanker-B
X-45A

The Air Force is a large branch which contains different squadrons. Molniya, Buran, Luch, Kvant, Gorizont, Ofnir are the main squadrons. Kvant Squadron appears to be the largest, operating at least 10 wings of 30+ aircraft, while Gorizont appears to be the most well-equipped. There are also transport squadrons operating among the fighter squadrons Yuktobania uses American, Russian and European aircraft.

Strategic bomber support is provided by B-1B Lancers, B-2A Spirits, B-52H Stratofortresses, and Vulcans[90].

C-5B Galaxies and C-130 Hercules[91] airlift cargo for Yuktobanian forces.

E-767s[92] support Yuke forces with electronic warfare and AEW&C.

F-15E Strike Eagles, F-16XLs, F-117A Nighthawks[93], Su-32 Strike Flankers, Tornado GR.1s, Tornado GR.4s, A-6E Intruders, A-10A Thunderbolt IIs, AC-130 Spectres[94], and AV-8B Harrier IIs[95] are seen supporting Yuktobanian ground forces.

KC-10A Extenders[96] are the air force's only in-flight refueling aircraft observed in-game.

Nimrods serve in the ASW role.

SR-71 Blackbirds[97] provide high-altitude reconnaissance.

Su-27 Flanker-Bs are encountered in large numbers in many Ace Combat 5 missions, and seemingly make up most of the YAF's fighters. They are supplemented by Typhoons, JAS-39C Gripen[98], MiG-21bis Fishbed-Ls, MiG-29A Fulcrum-As, MiG-31 Foxhound-As, F-16C Fighting Falcons, F-16C Block 60 Fighting Falcons, Tornado F3s, F-15C Eagles, Mirage 2000Cs, F-20A Tigersharks, F-35C Lightning IIs, F-4E Phantom IIs, F-4X Phantom 2000s, and F-5E Tiger IIs.

UAVs operated by the YAF include and armed version of the X-45A[99], RQ-2 Pioneer[100], plus a fictional submarine-launched UCAV similar to the Cormorant.

One Yuktobanian X-02 Wyvern is seen in a cutscene after being captured by the OADF.

Several aircraft appear only once in the game and are probably flown exclusively by the Gorizont squadron. They are the YA-10B, F-14D Super Tomcat[101], X-29A, MiG-1.44 Flatpack, Tornado ECR, MiG-31M Foxhound-B[102], Hawk[103], Su-37 Flanker-F[104], MiG-21-93 Fishbed-J, Mirage 2000D, FB-22[105], EA-6B Prowler, EA-18G Growler, F-4G Wild Weasel, and Rafale B.

[edit]
Typhoon class SSBN

The Yuktobanian Navy is a large branch of the Yuktobanian military. The occasional presence of Iowa class Battleships[106] and Admiral Kuznetsov class Aircraft Carriers[107] suggest a limited force-projection capability, though not on par with Osea, with its multiple Nimitz class Aircraft Carriers. Yuktobanian carrier battle groups are seen with Kirov class Nuclear-Powered Guided Missile Battlecruiser[108], Sovremenny class Guided Missile Destroyer[109][110], Kongo class Guided Missile Destroyer[111], and Krivak class Guided Missile Frigate[112][113][114] escorts.

Perhaps more impressive than the Yuktobanian surface fleet is her submarine fleet. The best example of this is the Scinfaxi class Ballistic Missile Submarine Aircraft Carrier, two of which are seen in Ace Combat 5.[115][116] They operate alongside Typhoon class Ballistic Missile Submarines[117] and are resupplied by modified Oscar II class Cruise Missile Submarines.[118]

Other ships seen in service with Yuktobania in Ace Combat 5 are Whidbey Island class Landing Ship Docks[119] and Pegasus class Fast Attack Craft (Missile)s[120].

These ships are supported by a naval air arm operating C-1 Traders[121], F-14A/B Tomcats, F/A-18C Hornets, F/A-18E Super Hornets, Rafale Ms, Su-32 Strike Flankers, and AV-8B Harrier IIs. Harriers would operate from Scinfaxi Class submarines while the rest are either adopted for ski jumps or operated by shore-based units.

Army

[edit]

The Yuktobanian Army is the largest branch of their military. Their main battle tank is the T-80UD, supported by BMD-1s that can be dropped from C-130 aircraft[122]. Artillery support is provided by M110 Self-Propelled Howitzers[123] and M270 Multiple Launch Rocket Systems. Air defenses are Flak 88s[124], FIM-92 Stingers[125], MIM-23 HAWKs, SA-6 Gainfuls, ZSU-23 Shilkas, and M167 VADS.

Special Forces

[edit]

A small branch of the military that operates covertly, like the Spetsnaz or to a lesser extent the KGB. One group is named Varyag Special Forces, a small element which is believed to have carried out terrorist activities during the Circum-Pacific War in response to the 'Osean' attack on Yuktobonian civilian installations during the Osean offensive.[126][127]
