A suggested site of Battle of Brunanburh was Bromborough in AD937 between King Athelstan and a Scots-Viking-Irish coalition. There are even suggestions that is was the fairway of 11th hole at Brackenwood golf course. The outcome has been described as "Birth of England" with the continued separation of the British Isles into distinct nations. |
