#REDIRECT Drizzt Do'Urden
Icingdeath and Twinkle are fictional blades, signature weapons of Drizzt Do'Urden, a fictional ranger created by R. A. Salvatore under the Forgotten Realms universe. They have been wielded by Drizzt since The Icewind Dale Trilogy.

Icingdeath
Ingeloakastimizilian, called Icingdeath by the barbarian tribes, was a white dragon in an ice cave in a part of the Reghed glacier called Evermelt. The Reghed glacier is located on the Forgotten Realms planet Abeir-Toril on the continent Faerûn. In DR 1356 Wulfgar, an Icewind Dale Barbarian and adopted son of the dwarf Bruenor Battlehammer, set out to slay the infamous dragon in its ice cave so he could have enough heroic deeds to challenge the current king of the Elk Tribe, the largest and most powerful of all of the barbarian tribes of Icewind Dale, Heafstaag. With help from his friend and tutor Drizzt Do'Urden, he was able to defeat the (almost)invincible dragon. Through this ordeal, Drizzt claimed one of Ingeloakastimizilian's many treasures as his own, a magical sword called Icingdeath, which plays a large role in later stories. It was slain by Wulfgar and Drizzt, and the scimitar was found in the treasure pile of the white dragon, for whom the blade was named.

<blockquote>He sifted through the portion of the pile he had just freed from the ice, uncovering a gem-encrusted sword pommel, its black adamantite hilt masterfully sculpted into the likeness of the toothed maw of a hunting cat. The lure of the intricate workmanship pulled at Drizzt, and with trembling fingers he slid the rest of the weapon out from under the gold.</blockquote>

<blockquote>A scimitar. Its curving blade was of silver, and diamond-edged. Drizzt raised it before him, marveling at its lightness and perfect balance.</blockquote>

<blockquote>"A few baubles . . . and this," he corrected. </blockquote>

Icingdeath's blade glows blue, as shown in Passage to Dawn, yet a slightly different shade of blue than Twinkle, and only in extremely cold temperatures.

The weapon absorbs fire and heat, protecting its wielder against fire. This magical blade saved Drizzt's life when facing the demon Errtu, defeating the demon's fire aura. In Streams of Silver, Bruenor Battlehammer fought with the shadow dragon Shimergloom and fell with the dragon covered with burning oil into a deep underground rift. This scimitar happened to be hooked on the dwarf king's belt, and thus saved him from the fire from the dragon's body as well. This is shown again when Drizzt uses Icingdeath as his preferred scimitar to fight Obould Many-Arrows, as Obould's sword has the ability to burst into flame, and Drizzt uses Icingdeath to extinguish the flames multiple times.

In addition, Icingdeath was designed to combat fire creatures. Shortly after he found the scimitar, Drizzt battled with Errtu, and the demon was defeated in two strokes by Icingdeath. Drizzt also noticed what he describes as a type of hunger emanating from the sword whenever a demon is near, which actually alerted him to the presence of a demon.

Drizzt wields Icingdeath with his right hand, wearing it on his left hip when not in use.

Twinkle
In DR 1356, during the events of Streams of Silver, Drizzt lost a scimitar while he was chasing Artemis Entreri after the assassin captured Regis. He later received Twinkle from the mage Malchor Harpell in the following novel, The Halfling's Gem.

<blockquote>"I see that one of your scabbards is empty," he said to Drizzt. Malchor pulled a beautifully crafted scimitar from its mount. "Perhaps this will fill it properly."</blockquote>

<blockquote>Drizzt sensed the power of the weapon as he took it from the wizard, felt the care of its crafting and the perfection of its balance. A single, star-cut blue sapphire glittered in its pommel.</blockquote>

<blockquote>"Its name is Twinkle," Malchor said. "Forged by the elves of a past age."</blockquote>

<blockquote>"Twinkle," echoed Drizzt. Instantly a bluish light lined the weapon's blade. Drizzt felt a sudden surge within it, and somehow sensed a finer edge to its cut. He swung it a few times, trailing blue light with each motion. How easily it arced through the air; how easily it would cut down a foe! Drizzt slid it reverently into his empty scabbard.</blockquote>

<blockquote>"It was forged in the magic of the powers that all the surface elves hold dear," said Malchor. "Of the stars and the moon and the mysteries of their souls. You deserve it, Drizzt Do'Urden, and it will serve you well." </blockquote>

Twinkle's blade glows blue when danger is near. This power can be subdued if stealth is required. If wielded while the glow is active, it will trail blue light.

Drizzt wields Twinkle with his left hand, wearing it on his right hip when not in use. He eventually replaces Twinkle with a sword called Khazid'hea, which he used only to fight Obould Many-Arrows, as it is the only sword he has that can pierce Obould's armor, after which point he loses the sword when he falls down a cliff.

Real life replicas
These two fictional blades have become so famous that Reliks, under the permission from Wizards of the Coast, and using the description from R. A. Salvatore and the design from Todd Lockwood, have made them into real life replicas. Claimed to be carbon-steeled, the pommel and crossguard on both scimitars are silver plated, with a simulated diamond on Icingdeath and artificial sapphire on Twinkle. On the blades of both scimitar there are what Reliks claimed to be decorative dark elf runes. However, as neither blade is dark elven in origin, this has been found to be an inaccurate representation.
