Hundreds of years back, there was a pregnant lady who dies just before the child birth (delivery). When she was being cremated as per Hindu rites, and once the wooden logs were ignited underneath, all the people who accompanied, left for their homes. It is said that due to the intense heat, the belly got ruptured and a new-born was thrown feets away. Once on ground, the child started crying- it is said that a serpent came from nearby bushes and put his tail in child's mouth. The child started sucking on the tail and was pacified. After some time, some of the family members came back and when they saw the serpent with the child, they were astonished. The serpent then goes back in the bushes and family members bring the child home. It is said that this child was called 'KAURA' as he survived despite all odds. Kauras of North India are believed to be this child's descendents.
