== Katy Perry image ==

Hello, I see you changed an image to the [[Katy Perry]] article. My only concern is that it would have to go through review as the article is currently at [[Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Katy Perry/archive1|FAC]], and would have to go through image review. The images already in use had already been reviewed and approved for copyrights and such, so you would have to take it there before using within the article. If all goes well, Katy's main article will be "Today's Featured Article" on her 30th birthday this upcoming October 25th! A tag has been placed on [[:Scarlet Moon]] requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under [[WP:CSD#A3|section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion]], because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see [[Wikipedia:Stub#Essential information about stubs|Wikipedia:Stub]] for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on [[Wikipedia:Notability|notable]] subjects and should provide references to [[Wikipedia:Reliable sources|reliable sources]] that [[Wikipedia:Verifiability|verify]] their content.

== Why Do All Of My Articles Get Deleted? ==

Hi my name is CPGirlAJ. I would like to ask the staff a question. I am wondering why all of the articles I made are deleted. It might not be a good article at first but I will try to edit it. It doesnt take one day to make an article so I take my time.So please dont delete my next article. I am not trying to make Wikipedia a bad enviroment so please listen. Thank You.

:Hi CPGirlAJ. Please read the information provided to you in the many notices above. If the topic you are writing about is not [[WP:N|notable]] according to Wikipedia's definition, and if there isn't [[WP:V|significant coverage]] about the topic in [[WP:RS|reliable sources that are independent of the subject]], then there can't be an article about that topic. It doesn't matter how well-written an article is, if the topic isn't notable. You can read [[Wikipedia:Your first article|this introduction to creating Wikipedia articles]] and also use the Article Wizard which is linked above. Finally, there is no "staff" at Wikipedia - we're all just editors (though some editors have more tools at their disposal - those are called administrators, and they are the ones who are able to delete articles.) Thank you! --''[[User:Bonadea|bonadea]]'' <small>[[Special:Contributions/Bonadea|contributions]] [[User talk:Bonadea|talk]]</small> 20:35, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

== Thank You Wikipedia! ==

Thanks for not deleting my latest article. I guess all of my other articles got deleted because the had a bad reference so next time I wont do that again. I cant believe I finally made my first GOOD article. And again THANKS!!!

:No, the deletions of your previous articles had nothing to do with having "bad references" - please take a moment to read the information above which tells you exactly what the problem was with each of the articles. The latest article you created also does not show any credible indication of [[WP:N|notability]], just like the previous articles. In addition, it has no references which all Wikipedia articles must have, and in particular articles about living people. Please add references from [[WP:RS|reliable third-party sources]]. And again, please read the information you have already been given - if the reasons why your articles were deleted are still unclear to you, you can post [[Wikipedia:New contributors' help page/questions|here]], or you can place the text <nowiki>{{helpme}}</nowiki> here on this talk page with your question under it, and somebody will be along to answer your questions. ==[[Wikipedia:Proposed deletion|Proposed deletion]] of [[Tina Wells]]==
[[Image:Ambox warning yellow.svg|left|link=|48px|]]

The article [[Tina Wells]] has been [[WP:BLPPROD|proposed for deletion]] because, under Wikipedia policy, all '''[[WP:BLP|biographies of living persons]]''' created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one [[WP:V#Sources|reliable source]] that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see [[Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners|Referencing for beginners]], or ask at the [[Wikipedia:Help desk|help desk]]. Once you have provided at least one [[WP:V#Sources|reliable source]], you may remove the {{tl|prod blp}} tag. '''Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced.''' If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can {{#ifexist:Tina Wells|request that it be undeleted|[[Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion|request that it be undeleted]]}} when you are ready to add one.<!-- Template:ProdwarningBLP --> ''[[User:Bonadea|bonadea]]'' <small>[[Special:Contributions/Bonadea|contributions]] [[User talk:Bonadea|talk]]</small> 20:19, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

Why you delete my Tina Wells article get deleted. If something was wrong with it you could of told me. == Hello? ==

Hello? Is anyone gonna answer any of my questions? I don't want to wait forever so please answer my questions! THANKS!-CPGirlAJ:D

:Well, the questions you have asked have all been answered higher up on this page, but to summarise: the reason your articles have been deleted is that '''they did not show that the subjects of the articles were significant'''. Wikipedia does not have articles about everything. All articles must be about [[WP:N|notable]] topics. Please click on the blue links in the messages above and read the information there. There is a lot to take in, and it can perhaps seem a bit confusing at first - if you want help creating an article you can use the [[Wikipedia:Article wizard|Article Wizard]] which will walk you through the steps. Before doing that, you might want to read the information [[Wikipedia:Your first article|here]].

Since that page doesn't exist, it will take you to a a page saying "Wikipedia does not have a user page with this exact name" and the first option will be "Start the ''User:CPGirlAJ/Joe and his dog'' page". == re [[The Ropers]] ==

Yes I did. Forgive the lesson if you already know this, but if you click on the "View History" tab you get [http://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=The_Ropers&action=history this], where you can see I made three edits, and if you click the round box next to the edit ''before'' my edits (the one by [[User:24.57.229.254]]), then click the round box next to the my last edit, you have a range of edits; and if you then click "Compare selected revisions" it shows the net result of all my edits, [http://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=The_Ropers&action=historysubmit&diff=454022239&oldid=454004748 here].

As you can see, I got rid of Joey and added Debbie Hopper. I did this based on the IMBD entry for the show, [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078679/fullcredits#cast here] (it's the top link in the "External links" section. Joey was only in 2 episodes. Debbie Hopper was in 5. Who Debbie Hopper ''is'' I do not know. I've never seen the show, I don't think. And IMBD doesn't offer any more info. But some Googling or whatever might turn up something. However, I see that [http://sharetv.org/shows/the_ropers/cast/debbie_hopper this] doesn't help, and tv.com doesn't help. Perhaps drilling down from [http://www.sitcomsonline.com/theropers.html here] would turn up something, don't know. Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, '''[[:List Of Katy Perry Songs]]'''. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as yourself. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - '''[[:Katy Perry discography]]'''. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for [[WP:A10|speedy deletion]]. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at [[:Katy Perry discography]] - you might like to discuss new information at [[Talk:Katy Perry discography|the article's talk page]].

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". :Actually, the article is not the same as [[Katy Perry discography]]. Because [[Rihanna]] has a [[Rihanna discography|discography]] too and she also has another article called [[List of Rihanna songs]]. ::You're right. I contacted the deleting admin and he restored to my userspace.
::*You could have contested the deletion by going to the article and clicking on the "contest this deletion" button, like it says above
::*If you didn't get to that in time, you could have contacted the admin who deleted it. (You can get this info by clicking on the red-linked name of the article, it takes you to a page that says "A page with this title has previously been deleted" and gives the name of the admin who deleted it).
::I'm ''not'' chastizing your for not doing this, I'm just saying that you could have done that. Anyway, I contacted the deleting admin and got the article text back. I put in my userspace, here: [[User:Herostratus/List of Katy Perry songs]].

::I am using the format that [[List of Rihanna songs]] used. I figure that must a good way to do it. It does use complicated table code though. I do believe that this will be a fine article when done and we can put it back into article space.

::Probably the reason the article got deleted was that it wasn't as fancy and finished-looking as the Rihanna article. Articles aren't supposed to get deleted for that reason, but in real life this happens. It shouldn't have been speedy-deleted, but if had been sent to [[WP:AFD]] it would probably have gotten deleted that way.

::A good idea is to work on articles in your userspace. Instead of creating [[List of Katy Perry songs]] right off, create [[User:CPGirlAJ/List of Katy Perry songs]]. Then you can work on the article at your leisure. When it's ready, you can use the Move button to move it to [[List of Katy Perry songs]]. That way it's less likely to get deleted.

::You're doing fine. The article shouldn't have been deleted. We'll get it back.

::If you want to work on it while it's in my userspace (at [[User:Herostratus/List of Katy Perry songs]]) that would be welcome. We need to get that third album and the other songs in there. You may not agree with some of the things I'm doing and we can talk about that. The table code might look pretty scary. It does take some practice, but it's good practice. Take a look at if you like and message me if you have questions, I can walk you through it. ::::It's alright, relax. I just wrote "Katy Perry" a million times to fill the space for now, so as to see how it will format. You, or I, can fill that in with proper text anytime. So relax! I used [[List of Rihanna songs]] as a template for the rest. That article has a couple of paragraphs about Rihanna as an intro. I figure this one should too. We can just steal it from the main Katy Perry article, with whatever changes are needed. [[User:Herostratus|Herostratus]] ([[User talk:Herostratus|talk]]) 04:47, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

::Well, yes, but. It's in reference to [http://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Lady_Gaga&action=historysubmit&diff=466729736&oldid=466546580 this edit] I presume. Note the tag "To avoid edit warring, please discuss on the talk page before changing the image". What this tells me is that, probably, there's been various go-rounds about which image to use and the existing was settled on, so one shouldn't change it without first asking on the talk page (and probably looking at old talk page threads to see what the deal is). It's possible that someone put the message up wrongly, though, and just decided to put in their favored image and put up the tag on their own say-so. This also happens. But unless there's evidence of this (e.g., lack of evidence that there's been a discussion/consensus around the current image) you'd have to assume that the tag is legit. In which case, it's probably not a good idea to change the image without first discussing on the talk page why you want to do that. In any case, tag or no, per [[WP:BRD]] if the image you put in is reverted, it'd be up to you to go to the talk page and convince the reverting editor (and other editors) why the image you prefer is superior. == CPGirlAJ ==

CPGirlAJ, what is going on? According to [[User:Fastily]], the article [[List Of Katy Perry Songs]] consisted of the string ""ggggggggggggg". This is not a good article. Was your intent to insert text in the article later, or what? If so, you should have created the article in your own userspace ([[User:CPGirlAJ/List Of Katy Perry Songs]] first and then only moved it into main article space. Is this how the deal went down, or what? [[User:Herostratus|Herostratus]] ([[User talk:Herostratus|talk]]) 14:56, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

:Actually, the string of ggggggggggggg's was at another article I was confused about. There is a article called [[One Of Boys (Katy Perry album)]]. When I used the [[ ]] signs on one of my articles for that article, it said that it didn't exist. So when I clicked on that, it said Editing One Of The Boys (Katy Perry album). Even though there is a article with the same name, it still says that the page doesn't exist. So after I typed that string of ggggggggggggggggggg's, I typed in that article name and it redirected me to the One Of The Boys (Katy Perry album) that existed, instead of the one I just created. Why did that happen? [[User:CPGirlAJ|CPGirlAJ]] ([[User talk:CPGirlAJ#top|talk]]) 19:25, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
::Oh, OK, right, I got those two articles mixed up. Hmmm, well, it's because of capitalization. Note the difference:
::*[[One of the Boys (Katy Perry album)]]
::*[[one of the Boys (katy perry album)]]
::So those are two different articles (in a way) because of the different capitalization. But if you type "one of the Boys (katy perry album)" ''in the search box'', it will take you to [[One of the Boys (Katy Perry album)]], cos the search box works that way. So the search box thinks that "[[One of the Boys (Katy Perry album)]]" and "[[one of the Boys (katy perry album)]]" are the same article (sort of), but they aren't really, and the [[ ]] knows this. It is kind of confusing. [[User:Herostratus|Herostratus]] ([[User talk:Herostratus|talk]]) 05:33, 21 December 2011 (UTC)

Because you have <nowiki>{{</nowiki> before the URL but no <nowiki>}}</nowiki> after it, the formatting gets a bit messed up - but it's easy to fix, just add <nowiki>}}</nowiki> after the URL :-)

:::::::Well, right. As I said, it's a simple rule of thumb to use images that aren't your own, and there are exceptions. One is an image that someone else has made but they've released under an acceptable license; see [[Wikipedia:Image use policy]] for some details on how to use these. As to album covers, [[Wikipedia:Non-free content]] -- specifically the section [[WP:NFCI]] -- describes these, but like this: "Cover art from various items, for visual identification only in the context of critical commentary of that item (not for identification without critical commentary)". In practice, articles about an album usually have a picture of the album cover, so I guess that's allowed. You couldn't use the album cover in any other article though. Hi CPGirlAJ, please don't remove other people's talk page comments as you did on [[Wikipedia:Help desk/Archives/2011 December 26]]. While the comment you removed was unnecessarily inflammatory, other editors had responded to it and the discussion had been archived. Removing the first comment made the whole section confusing, since the comments were there without the post they commented on. Also note that you accidentally removed part of the template which hid the discussion from view -- it's a good idea to use the "Preview" button to avoid that kind of error. == re [[Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection]] ==

Well, there already a page with that name. It is a redirect to [[Teenage Dream (Katy Perry album)#The Complete Confection]] -- that is, the section "The Complete Confection" of the article [[[[Teenage Dream (Katy Perry album)]] (that is what the "#" means -- in a link, it takes you to the section named after the "#", if it exists).

The page [[Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection]] just contains this text: "#REDIRECT [[Teenage Dream (Katy Perry album)#The Complete Confection]]" "#REDIRECT" is a magic word such that it takes the reader directly to the page named after the "#REDIRECT" and they never see the redirect page.

If you want to edit a redirect page, what you have to do is type "Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection" in the search box. This will take you automatically to [[Teenage Dream (Katy Perry album)]], but if you scroll to the op of the page, near the top it will say "(Redirected from Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection)". Click on that link and it will take to the actual redirect page which you can view and edit. (You can also use "Tools" and then "What links here" whenever you're on the [[Teenage Dream (Katy Perry album)]] page to get to the redirect.

OK. So you have two options:
#You can go to the existing section "The Complete Confection" of the article [[Teenage Dream (Katy Perry album)]] and edit it, intertwining your own text (using copy-and-paste or whatever) and changing it any way that you think is an improvement.
#You can go to the actual redirect page [[Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection]] as I showed above, and replace the text with your own text copy-and-pasted in from [[User:CPGirlAJ/Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection]]. That is how you change an existing redirect page to an actual article, using copy-and-paste.

I would recommend that you consider doing #1 instead of #2 for a couple of reasons:
*The person above has said that the Complete Confection version of the album doesn't deserve its own page, and so you would have to argue with him and maybe other people about this. He has a point. I don't know if he's "right" or not.
*The existing section "The Complete Confection" of the article [[Teenage Dream (Katy Perry album)]] also talks about the album, and it's probably not a good idea to have similar material in two separate places like that, so that would have to be dealt with somehow.
But it's your call. [[User:Herostratus|Herostratus]] ([[User talk:Herostratus|talk]]) 03:44, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

CPGirlAJ, can you also please stop removing meaningful text from the article's hatnote? In case you are not familiar with the concept of [[WP:DAB|disambiguation]], the idea is that readers looking for Perry's first album and who simply type "Katy Hudson" in the search engine, will find themselves looking at the Katy Perry article instead (which is a sensible redirect). So a hatnote quickly pointing them to the desired article, i.e. ''Katy Hudson (album)'', is appropriate.
The hatnote in the form that you seem to like (''"Katy Hudson" redirects here. For the Australian fashion designer, see [[Katie Perry]]'') is unhelpful and completely pointless in that respect. --[[User:Giuliopp|Giuliopp]] ([[User talk:Giuliopp|talk]]) 20:50, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

::Take a look at [[Help:Minor edit]] for a good overview.
::As it states there(<small>''Bolding mine.''</small>):
:::A check to the minor edit box signifies that only superficial differences exist between the current and previous versions. Examples include typographical corrections, formatting and presentational changes, and rearrangements of text without modification of its content. '''A minor edit''' is one that the editor believes '''requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute.''' An edit of this kind is marked in its page's revision history with a lower case, bolded "m" character (m).
:::Because editors may choose to ignore minor edits when reviewing recent changes, the distinction between major and minor edits is significant. Logged-in users might even set their preferences to not display minor edits. '''If there is any chance that another editor might dispute a change, it is best''' not '''to mark the edit as minor.'''
::In my own experience, for instance, I would not consider my reply-post here to be minor...there are major differences on this talkpage from before I posted these words compared to when I finish. So when I am done with posting here, I will '''not''' check off "This is a minor edit" before I hit "Save page;. You apparently are checking almost every edit you do as a minor edit, but taking a look at your contributions...
::*Is uploading a new image of Selena Homez a minor edit?
::*Is changing the infobox picture of any singer a 'minor edit'?
::*Is adding an alias to Carly Rae Jepsen a 'minor edit'?
::*Is adding extensive new sourced material to the Ryan Lochte article a 'minor edit'?
::Sure, some of your edits could be considered minor, but, for instance, adding a new image to any article can be controversial, it alters the content and sometimes the images themselves could be considered controversial. Heh, long answer, hope it helps. Let me know if not, I'll try to explain myself a little better.[[User:Shearonink|Shearonink]] ([[User talk:Shearonink|talk]]) 03:37, 3 November 2012 (UTC)

::I'm surprised that you've never thought to click on the link in "This is a [[Help:Minor edit|minor edit]]", which is immediately to the right of the check box that you have to check in order to mark your edit as minor. Since you have to go out of your way to check the box, it seems strange that you wouldn't bother confirming that your edit actually is minor before marking it. --<font style="white-space:nowrap;text-shadow:#fee72c 0em 0em 0.8em,gold -0.8em -0.8em 0.9em,#1D6B00 0.7em 0.7em 0.8em;color:#000000">[[User:AussieLegend|AussieLegend]] ([[User talk:AussieLegend#top|<big>✉</big>]])</font> 16:03, 3 November 2012 (UTC)

Katy Perry image

[edit]

Hello, I see you changed an image to the Katy Perry article. My only concern is that it would have to go through review as the article is currently at FAC, and would have to go through image review. The images already in use had already been reviewed and approved for copyrights and such, so you would have to take it there before using within the article. If all goes well, Katy's main article will be "Today's Featured Article" on her 30th birthday this upcoming October 25th! Snuggums (talk / edits) 12:07, 8 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
