New huggle 3.1 is going to be released soon
Hi Gilderien, we are to release a new major version of huggle, but we did receive almost no feedback from our beta testing team, which you are a part of (see https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Huggle/Members). It would be of a great help if you could download it (if you have windows, all you need to do is getting http://tools.wmflabs.org/huggle/files/huggle3.1.0beta.exe and putting it to a folder where you have installed huggle) and test it. You can always get a help with making it @ huggle!

Major changes:
* Multisite support - you can now log in to unlimited number of wikis in 1 huggle session and get a huge queue of all edits made to these wikis. This is good for smaller projects which gets overlooked often.
* Ranged diffs - you can select multiple revisions and get a huge diff that display all changes done to them.
* Fixes of most of bug reports we had so far

In case you found a bug, please report it to bugzilla: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/buglist.cgi?product=Huggle&list_id=147663 thank you! Petrb (talk) 10:09, 30 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi Gilderien, I restored this to you. I was doing some cleanup and hit you in error, you are obviously active with Wikipedia, and it looks like you used the old bot about a year ago(?); sorry for any confusion! If you have no intentions of ever actually using the mass-message service there would be no need for this, ping me if you don't need it and I'll clean it back off. Regarding your latest change. Is that more accurate?

Well I don't know if it is more accurate. It is just as much so I think. New Guinea is part of Australia (continent). This all just depends on what your definition of a continent is. I like to think of the continent as including the associated islands that are part of the continental shelf, and the landmass would be continental mainland. But all of this and any other sensible definition get thrown out the window with the sub-divisions of North and South Amererica, and Europe and Asia, and Africa for that matter. which are all part of much larger landmasses known as the Americas and Afro-Eurasia.

I will let the currect revision stand and see if anyone objects. --<span style="color:orange;">Racer</span><span style="color:black;">X11</span> <small>Talk to me</small>Stalk me 18:39, 3 August 2014 (UTC)

WikiCup 2014 June newsletter

After an extremely close race, Round 3 is over. 244 points secured a place in Round 4, which is comparable to previous years- 321 was required in 2013, while 243 points were needed in 2012. Pool C's Smithsonian Institution Godot13 (submissions) was the round's highest scorer, mostly due to a 32 featured pictures, including both scans and photographs. Also from Pool C, Scotland Casliber (submissions) finished second overall, claiming three featured articles, including the high-importance Grus (constellation). Third place was Pool B's , whose contributions included featured articles Russian battleship Poltava (1894) and Russian battleship Peresvet. Pool C saw the highest number of participants advance, with six out of eight making it to the next round.

The round saw this year's first featured portal, with Republic of Rose Island Sven Manguard (submissions) taking Portal:Literature to featured status. The round also saw the first good topic points, thanks to Florida 12george1 (submissions) and the 2013 Atlantic hurricane season. This means that all content types have been claimed this year. Other contributions of note this round include a featured topic on Maya Angelou's autobiographies from Idaho Figureskatingfan (submissions), a good article on the noted Czech footballer Tomáš Rosický from Bartošovice v Orlických horách Cloudz679 (submissions) and a now-featured video game screenshot, freely released due to the efforts of Republic of Rose Island Sven Manguard (submissions).

The judges would like to remind participants to update submission pages promptly. This means that content can be checked, and allows those following the competition (including those participating) to keep track of scores effectively. This round has seen discussion about various aspects of the WikiCup's rules and procedures. Those interested in the competition can be assured that formal discussions about how next year's competition will work will be opened shortly, and all are welcome to voice their views then. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Vercours Massif

Hi. I've made a quick side-by-side comparison, but I don't have time to go through the long article line by line. What struck me however is that the English version appears to be more of a rewrite than a straight translation although it does essentially contain the same information. I found myself looking up and down in order to find the continuity. One particular phrase early in the article that I found to be mistranslated was

les déplacements et échanges économiques se faisant entre le massif et la plaine plutôt qu'entre les différentes parties du massif

which I would have translated as

...the economic changes and movements taking place between the mountains and the plains rather than between the different parts of the mountains.

- even the Google translation seems to be accurate on that point:

... economic exchanges occurring between the solid and the plain rather than between different parts of the massif.

Being bilingual, I obviously don't use machine translations, but it does sometimes help to get the quick opinion of a machine.

I'm sure there are many other parts that need some close review and I wish I had more time to help you on this, but after having translated the massive Brontë family from the poorly structured French article to replace the short stub on en.Wiki 4 years ago, I know what you are up against. If it's any consolation, it took me around 60 hours and I did most of it offline first.

Good luck, and if you are not sure of some parts, don't hesitate to ask, but I may be a bit slow to respond. If you are going to Wikimania, perhaps we could look at it together. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 11:40, 19 July 2014 (UTC)

Thank you very much for looking it over. I'm not bilingual, but I'll keep plodding on with it, and if something completely escapes me I'll ask you :) The article may be more of a re-write, I often find that things flow better is used in a different way dependent on the words used. It always amazes me to see how the different languages have such a different level of article, even if it's not particularly connected to the language like this one is.
Unfortunately I can't make it to Wikimania this year, but I hope it is as good as I have heard.--Gilderien Chat|List of good deeds 16:43, 19 July 2014 (UTC)
Edit: I am not sure really what "Ce plateau est un témoin du glacier du Grésivaudan qui, à l'époque glaciaire, remontait jusqu'à cette altitude. On y trouve une tourbière." means exactly, so I have left it as glacial remnant for now.--Gilderien Chat|List of good deeds 23:50, 19 July 2014 (UTC)
This plateau is evidence that during the Ice Age, the Gresivaudan glacier reached that altitude leaving a swamp/marsh.
The French is a little clumsy because seen in English it implies that a glaicier flows upwards 'to an altitude', whereas in fact what is most probably meant is that the glacies reached a lower altitude which results in the marshy area that is there today.Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 09:38, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Vercors Massif may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
 • synclines and anticlines successively, and because of the hardness of the rock, faults.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, BracketBot (talk) 02:55, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
