== A little info about me == |
I'm an Aussie based in the UK, and have broad interests in Philosophy, Sciences and Motorsport. I used to compete in Rallying. |
I am more interested in reading that editing Wikipedia, though my passion for ensuring a NPOV has driven me to become an active participant during recent months. I take my hat off to other editors who are also participating in articles that they otherwise would have no interest at all in, purely because of their belief in ensuring the neutrality of an article. |
I deeply respect those who have committed much more than I have, to the extent of going to libraries and copying hundreds of pages of academic material around an obscure subject that is of no personal interest to them, all in the name of working towards neutrality. (ok - I'll get off my soapbox now :) |

On the subject of registering a Wikipedia account: |
A couple of people (see below) have asked me to consider registering on Wikipedia instead of posting as an IP address. One reason that I haven't yet registered is ironically that I don't believe in using pseudonyms and elsewhere have always written under my real name. As such, I feel that if I was to register on Wikipedia, I should use my real name. However, I find myself currently involved with a particularly contentious article, and as such am hesitant to fully identify myself for the moment. |
I'm now re-evaluating my own principle and wonder whether I can justify using a pseudonym to balance privacy against transparency. |
Well, I'd invite you to use whatever name you want, contrary to popular belief, this isn't my real name. It's up to you, but I'd recommend you get an account. <font face="Lucida Handwriting" color="blue">Steve Crossin (talk)(email)</font> 22:02, 7 June 2008 (UTC) |

== Welcome == |

Hello! I've noticed that you have edited Wikipedia without logging in to an account. It's great that you've been contributing; however, I urge you to create an account. Here is a list of the benefits of having an account: |
*You can create new pages |
*You can use watchlists |
*You can upload images |
*You can keep your account from being unfairly blocked if you share an IP address |
*You can use scripts to better fight annoying vandalism |
*After four days, you can edit semi-protected pages |
*After a while, you might be able to become an administrator |
There are no cons to signing up for an account. In fact, you can find even more pros at the "why create an account" page! Signing up is completely free and you don't need to enter any personal information! Plus you can have a user page, which you can use to show your interests, style, or nearly whatever! So, unless you can think of a con, please sign up for an account right now! |

I just noticed that you have never been welcomed before now. Well, you are now :) <font face="Lucida Calligraphy" color="blue">Steve Crossin (talk) (review)</font> 19:53, 28 May 2008 (UTC) |

May you consider registering an account? It will be much nicer to address you by a name or pseudonym than as "anon 82.44.221.140". Getting a user name has also the benefits as allowing you to keep a watchlist of the pages you are interested. Unregistered editors using this IP address received messages on this talk page years ago. Since users of the IP address have likely changed, these messages have been removed. They can be viewed in the page history.
