The pen that quotes the praise and admiration for His Holiness Saiyedna Taiyeb Ziyauddin Saheb (TUS), the 44th Dai in succession amongst the Du’at ul-Mutlaqeen of Alavi Da’wat, is helpless in continuing, as the virtues are limitless and words are few to extol them! |
In the year 1425 AH, Saiyedna saheb has completed 31 years of long tenure as the Naaib-e-Imam uz-Zamaan on this Masnad-e-Taiyebi, and the whole community implores and exhorts Allah to grant him life of Khizir Nabi (AS). Because all these years have witnessed great strides of progress, achievement, advancement, prosperity & modernization of the well knit Alavi Bohra community both here and abroad, not only in terms of education, wealth & religion but also in awareness in youth about our identity and our religious roots! This has been made possible due to the able leadership, guidance, advice and above all, the qaabil-e-qubool Du’a-e-Khair of Saiyedna Taiyeb Ziyauddin Saheb (TUS). |
The present Saiyedna whose honorable Laqab is Taiyeb (meaning pure, untarnished), is derived from the name of 21st Imam, Imam Taiyeb (AS), who went into Ghaibat (seclusion, concealment), in 528 AH in Cairo, due to the indescribable oppression and tyranny of the people of other communities at that time, when he was just 4 years old. Following the direct guidance of Imam uz-Zamaan (AS), Maulatana Hurrat ul-Maleka who was a Hujjat of 20th Imam al-Aamir (AS), appointed Saiyedna Zoeb bin Moosa (QR) as the first Da’i-e- Mutlaq in Yemen. So from the 1st Da’i solemnized in 532 AH in Yemen till the present 44th Badr-e-Muneer of Falak-e-Da’wat Saiyedna Taiyeb Ziyauddin (TUS) residing in Vadodara, Gujarat, the Da’wat mission is still alive and will remain eternal according to the Hadees-e-Shareef of Saiyed ul-Ambiya Mohammed Rasulullah (SAW), these direct descendents of Maulatana Fatemat uz-Zahra (AS), will come one after another in succession till Qaaim ul-Qeyaama will descend before the Day of Judgement! |
The childhood name of Saiyedna Saheb is Ayyubali exemplifying the virtue of patience and forbearance that has been immortalized by Ayyub Nabi (AS). The memoirs of childhood of Saiyedna are replete with descriptions of his strenuous training with respect to schooling and religion, by 42nd Da’i Saiyedna Badruddin Saheb (QR) who was his teacher and mentor. Daily daras comprised of preaching, anecdotes, stories, references, quotes & advices from Quran-e- Majid, Hadees-e-Nabawi, Fiqh, Tawarikh and Akhbaar. If a child did not offer morning prayer, he was not given breakfast and if he did not recite Quran on getting up he was awarded with severe and stern punishment. |
The prophecy of the 42nd Da’i, Saiyedna Badruddin Saheb (QR), who was the teacher and closely attached and emotionally involved with the present Saiyedna saheb, that the Alavi Da’wat will attain unparallel heights & culmination at the hands of Taiyeb Ziyauddin Saheb, started becoming true and factual immediately on his accession to the Da’wat’s throne on 17th Rajab, 1394 AH. At that time the 43rd Da’i, Saiyedna Yusuf Nuruddin Saheb (QR) went for heavenly abode, after doing Nass-e-Jali i.e. explicitly appointing Huzoor-e-‘Aali (TUS) as the 44th Da’i-e-Mutlaq. |
In 1395 AH, Huzoor-e-‘Aali (TUS) went for Hajj-e-Baitullah with 27 mumineens, exactly the same number which were present with Saiyedna Ali (QR) in Ahmedabad during the mutiny by the usurper of Ahl-e-Motaghallib. This honor of Hajj was bestowed upon by Allah to our Maula, again in 1412 AH, the only Da’i till now of having performed Hajj twice! And who has the honor of becoming the first Mansoor ul-Yamane and Zaair il-Mashhadain il-‘Azeemain, Huzoor-e-‘Aali (TUS) who went to Karbala, Shaam, Najaf, Kufa, Bait ul- Muqaddas, Cairo & Yemen in an encompassing tour, spanning over a period of 11/2 month, in the year 1420 AH. Despite some physical constraints, Huzoor-e-‘Aali (TUS) with karam-e-Rehmani and roohani taaeed from Imam uz-Zamaan (AS) accomplished the most difficult part of safar-e-mubaarak in perfect health and well being! |

Abu Hatim Ṭayyib Ziyā'u d-Dīn (August 6, 1932 – May 23, 2015), full name Saiyedna Abu Haatim Taiyeb Ziyauddin Saheb and personal name Taiyyeb, Ayyubali with kunya (agnomen) "Abu Haatim", was the 44th Dā‘ī al-Muṭlaq, "the absolute or unrestricted missionary", of the Alavi Bohra,[1][2] a minority group of Ismā‘īlī Shī‘ah Muslims. Since he assumed the position in 1974, the Alavi Bohra community has progressed both locally and internationally in education, economic prosperity, religion, and in the awareness among its youth of the group's identity and religious roots.
Saiyedna saheb was born in 1932 to Saiyedna Yusuf Nuruddin Saheb (a.q.), the 43rd Da'i-e-Mutlaq, and Marhooma Maa Saheba Khadeejat ul-Kubra Mithibu binte Rajabali, and became Alavi Bohra's Da'i al-Mutlaq in 1974. His teacher was the 42nd Da'i-e-Mutlaq Saiyedna Fida'ali Badruddin Saheb. In 1975 (1395 AH), Abu Haatim performed the Hajj with 27 followers, the same number that was present with Sy. Shamsuddin Ali bin Ibrahim Shaheed (a.q.) in Ahmedabad during the mutiny by the usurper of Ahl-e-Motaghallib. He performed the Hajj again in 1992 (1412 AH), making him the only Da'i to date who has performed the Hajj twice. Throughout 2000, he visited Karbala, Shaam, Najaf, Kufa, Bait ul-Muqaddas, Cairo, and Yemen in a comprehensive tour, making him the first Mansoor ul-Yamane and Zaair il-Mashhadain il-'Azeemain to do so. Additionally, despite health problems, Abu Haatim, accompanied by Karam-e-Rehmani and Roohani Taaeed from Imam uz-Zamaan, accomplished the Taiyebi Daur, the most difficult portion of safar-e-mubaarak, successfully.
On December 27, 1984, at Masjid-e-Noorani, Abu Haatim appointed Mazoon ud-Da'wat and Mansoos ud-Da'wat, the eldest son of Abu Haatim, at the fourth Rabi-ul-Aakhar. Abu Haatim's name Ṭayyib is derived from the name of the 21st Imam, Ṭayyib, who went into seclusion in 1130 as a result of the tyranny and oppression imposed by the other communities in Cairo when he was four years old. Abu Haatim lives in Daar us-Salaam, Vadodara. On May 23, 2015 Syedna Abu Hatim Tayyib Ziyauddin saheb died peacefully in Vadodara, Gujarat, India. He was succeeded in the post of Dai al Mutlaq by Saiyedna Abu Sa'eed il-Khayr Haatim Zakiyuddin saheb (tus) as the 45th Dai al Mutlaq of the Alavi Bohra.
