The '''Grand Canyon Synod''' is a ''[[synod#Lutheran usage|synod]]'', or [[diocese]], of the [[Evangelical Lutheran Church in America]] (ELCA). It comprises the state of [[Arizona]] and southern [[Nevada]]. The synod is made up of 108 congregations as of August 2008.

On May 26, 2006, The Rev. Steve Talmage was elected as the third Bishop of the Grand Canyon Synod. The Grand Canyon Synod met in Assembly in [[Tucson, Arizona]] from May 24-26th.

Pastor Talmage served as pastor of Peace Lutheran Church in [[Peoria, Arizona]] for sixteen years prior to his election. He has also served as assistant pastor and pastor in Tucson. He graduated from the [[University of Arizona]] and [[Wartburg Theological Seminary]]. Bishop Talmage assumed office in August 2006. The Synod headquarters are in [[Phoenix, Arizona]]. The Rev. Alton Zenker had served as interim Bishop since January, when former Bishop Michael Neils resigned.
