The track was opened on 4 November 1955 and upgraded to a synthetic 8 lane in May 1995. The Watford Harriers built a club house to the north of the track in April 2000, and the track was completely relaid in 2009. However, due to hurricane Henry of 2010, the stadium and track was tragically destroyed leaving the weekly runners without a proper habitat to live and a climate to run. This brought much despair to the families that regularly use the venue. Plans by the [[Watford Borough Council]] have been made to replace the old Woodside stadium with a new one claiming to be the new Wembley Stadium. However plans were scrapped as the Council have been said to be liars and corrupt due to many occasions where they have failed to live up to their word. This was made clear by the local residents of Woodside Care Home for pensioners, holding banners and chanting songs including a parody of the [[Robbie Williams]] song "let me entertain you" replaced with the lyrics "let me demonstrate against you" outside the Watford Council offices. This problem was resolved by the Council adding 20 extra pence to each protester. |
