===Brava Beach=== |
|||
On the east side, beach brava starts across the peninsula at Punta Colorada and ends at the beginning of Punta Negra. It's a nice beach in the morning and at noon in the summer, is preferred by swimmers and around Piriápolis in January is the high season. In the afternoon when the wind blows east or virazon, swimmers move to the mansa beach and rocks around the west side of Punta Colorada, with natural pools with sandy sheltered from the wind. Another part of the public to choose the West Bay and Punta Negra is a little more guarded. Punta Colorada has one of the most important beaches in the country. Brava beach is average depth and coarse material predominates the sand as there are no boulders, is a good fishing for large croaker (February-March), brótolas (August to December) and southern kingfish (all year). In winter it is a great mackerel fishing. Unlike Punta del Este, the beach has dangerous currents, is safer than its namesake of that spa. But there are days which waves can be enormous and must be particularly careful. Try drilling a wave of these features can even be fatal, the strength of it can become uncontrollable, even if it crosses into the depths. During the season there lifeguard service and restrooms. Sand sports (football, volleyball, etc) are better suited for gentle beach. The salinity of the sea varies depending on the dominance of the winds (east and north, saltier water, west, sweet) and the volume of rainfall (high, very sweet, deficit, more salt) the warmer waters correspond to the period February to April, while the coldest from June to December, during January's income comes the warm current from Brazil and away the cold Malvinas current, so it is a transition month. Usually starting in July, mostly between August and October were seen very close to the whales southern coast, mainly in the initial sector of the beach brava. Always seen with calm waters and no cold days. |

Beaches of the resort
[edit]To the west of Punta Colorada is the 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) long beach of Playa San Francisco and to its east the beach Playa Punta Colorada, also known as the west beach of Punta Negra. The local people refer to these beaches as "La Mansa" (which means mild, gentle) and "La Brava" (which for maritime context indicates a very rough sea) respectively, because of the similarities of conditions with Playa Mansa and Playa Brava on either side of Punta del Este.[3][4]
The "Brava" beach is usually preferred in the morning and at noon in the summer, while in the afternoon the wind usually blows east and swimmers move to the "Mansa" beach and to the rocks around the west side of Punta Colorada, where there are natural sandy pools sheltered from the wind. Brava beach is good for fishing large croaker (February–March), brótolas (August to December), southern kingfish (all year), and mackerel (in winter). Unlike the Playa Brava of Punta del Este, which has dangerous currents, this beach is much safer, although there are days with very big waves that can be dangerous. During the summer high season, there is a lifeguard service and public restrooms. Sand sports (football, volleyball, etc.) are better suited for the "Mansa" beach.[citation needed]
The salinity of the sea varies depending on the predominance of the winds (east and north wings bring saltier water, while west winds bring sweet water) and the volume of rainfall. The warmest waters correspond to the period February to April, while the coldest from June to December. During January comes the warm current from Brazil and pushes away the cold Malvinas current, so it is a transition month. Usually starting in July, but mostly between August and October, there can be seen whales very close to the southern coast.
