Murder of Joseph Griffin

Fails WP:NEVENT as a one-time murder with no lasting repercussions - it was reported in the media and discussed on some talking head shows for a bit, and then dropped when the next "crime in wartime" story broke. Google shows lots of news reports but no actual lasting effects. I PROD'd it earlier today, but the article creator immediately deprod'd it; so I figured it couldn't hurt to AfD. Oppose This is a significant assassination covered by AP and New York Times, with connections to Iran. It is almost certainly a terrorist attack, a battle in the war against terrorism, and part of a pattern of seemingly random shootings of American soldiers and contractors, some in the US in the case of Fort Knox and Little Rock and Fort Hood. Battles in wars always are worth noting in an encyclopdia, it is not just a local robbery or murder story if it shows up in Fox News and Tehran Times. It does not deserve to buried as this is a very notable event, and it was noted. An event does not have to have a continuing series of conspiracy theories or anniversaries such as the JFK assasination to be notable. People try to use ONEEVENT to censure lots of terrorist attacks all the time, it's not meant be be used to delete events of international importance, or deaths of Americans who gave their lives in support of the war against terror. P.S. - If it is such a notable story, why does the article here consist of only two sentences, of which one consists entirely of speculation without sources? Delete - I am very sorry for his family's loss, at such a senseless crime. However, the ongoing consensus here at WP is that only the most famous murders, those getting national attention for more than three days, are included here. All the sources you found were published over a three-day period. Even the killings of otherwise non-notable people can become notable later on, see Murder of Kitty Genovese and Shooting of Trayvon Martin. If his killer is ever tracked down, it would likely become notable, and then we could re-create the article. Bearian (talk) 17:24, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
