Hello, Mr. SuperEagle, are you aware that the individual [http://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Osmund_Lewry&diff=316762982&oldid=316758846 you'd reverted] on [[Osmund Lewry]] is a retired professor of philosophy? What is your background in this field, if you don't mind me asking? Mine, for the record, is none, but I'd sleep easier knowing that Wikipedia is in good hands.[[Special:Contributions/24.22.141.252|24.22.141.252]] ([[User talk:24.22.141.252|talk]]) 08:42, 29 September 2009 (UTC)

:To be honest, I don't really have much of a background in philosophy. I simply happened to notice that the user account in question was a confirmed sockpuppet of someone who has been banned from editing Wikipedia, as you can see by viewing the sockpuppet's [[User:Another_banned_user|user page]]. <br> As [[Wikipedia:Banning policy|Wikipedia's banning policy]] states, "''Anyone is free to revert any edits made in defiance of a ban. By banning a user, the community has decided that their edits are prima facie unwanted and may be reverted without any further reason.''" <br> Basically, I was just enforcing the user's ban. However, if you believe that the article would be better with the banned user's edits reinstated, that's alright with me, but please note that you will be taking complete responsibility for any of the banned user's contributions that you choose to reinstate. :Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. A great starting point is to take advantage of Wikipedia's [[Wikipedia:Article_wizard_2.0|new article wizard]]. As a new user, you should also take the time to read [[Wikipedia:Your first article]]. <br> By the way, here's some helpful information on how to properly inquire about the deletion of any of your page creations in the future. To inquire about why a particular page was removed, you should contact the administrator who deleted the page by leaving a message on his/her user talk page. Administrators do have the capability to undelete pages that were removed in error. Please note that the creation of a new page that serves no purpose other than to inquire about a particular page deletion will only create unnecessary work for administrators and is therefore considered disruptive. <br> I hope this helps. Happy editing! [[User:SoCalSuperEagle |<font color="darkgreen">'''SoCalSuperEagle'''</font> ]] ([[User talk:SoCalSuperEagle |<font color="darkgreen">talk</font>]]) 19:05, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

Hey, I noticed you reported an IP to ANI yesterday who had triggered the edit filters. When I click on the link you provided, I can see what the IP says is that editor's personal information. Shouldn't that be oversighted or removed? [[User:Nikkimaria|Nikkimaria]] ([[User talk:Nikkimaria|talk]]) 23:15, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

:In general, the oversighters should be notified about the presence of personal information so that it can be removed quickly. Unfortunately, the one time when I asked the oversighters to remove an entry from the edit filter log due to the nature of said entry's contents, I was told that it wasn't yet possible to oversight individual entries in that particular log. :I'm a little confused here. The contribution history page and talk page for the user in question don't have any built-in login status indicators. I checked the list of currently available gadgets and didn't see anything that would display the login status of another user. And I'm not aware of any user-defined scripts that would serve the exact same purpose. So unless the user in question used the same computer as yours, I have no idea how you were able to tell whether the user in question was logged in at a particular moment in time. --[[User:SoCalSuperEagle |<font color="darkgreen">'''SoCalSuperEagle'''</font> ]] <font color="black">([[User talk:SoCalSuperEagle|talk]])</font> 19:25, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

:His [[Special:Contributions/Hatchetjones|contribution history page]], if that's what you're referring to, only lists the time and location of each edit that he made while logged in. It doesn't indicate when he actually logged in or logged out. And when I clicked on the diff link that corresponds to the only edit that he's made so far, I saw only the changes that he made to the page [[Talk:Crap]], along with the timestamp for that edit. Anyway, I don't really see why you would need to register an alternate account due to an issue with someone else's account. --[[User:SoCalSuperEagle |<font color="darkgreen">'''SoCalSuperEagle'''</font> ]] <font color="black">([[User talk:SoCalSuperEagle|talk]])</font> 23:23, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

As you have stated above that you run the website in question, you are considered to be affiliated with said website. As I've only ever tagged one page for speedy deletion before (and that was an obvious cut-and-paste copyvio), I just want to make sure I tagged it properly. :To me, that particular article (which no longer exists) appeared to introduce blatant misinformation to Wikipedia; therefore, I would have given it the db-g3 tag. --[[User:SoCalSuperEagle |<font color="darkgreen">'''SoCalSuperEagle'''</font> ]] <font color="black">([[User talk:SoCalSuperEagle|talk]])</font> 03:11, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

:I just took a look at the article's entry in the deletion log, and it seems that the administrator who deleted the page agreed with the db-g1 tag. So I guess the page may have been just incomprehensible enough to justify the use of the db-g1 tag, but I still think the db-g3 tag would have been better in this case. --[[User:SoCalSuperEagle |<font color="darkgreen">'''SoCalSuperEagle'''</font> ]] <font color="black">([[User talk:SoCalSuperEagle|talk]])</font> 03:26, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

: Greetings, and thank you for your contributions. Unfortunately, to me, your recent submission at [[WP:AFC|AFC]] clearly reads like an essay, as it looks more like an attempt to provide an answer to a particular question rather than an attempt to make an encyclopedic presentation of facts about a particular subject. The page doesn't have a proper encyclopedic [[WP:LEAD|lead section]], there are [[WP:TONE|tone]] issues, and several portions may not be in compliance with Wikipedia's [[WP:NPOV|neutral point-of-view policy]]. All material that is added to a Wikipedia article must be attributable to a reliable published source. Your submission does not contain any inline citations, so I have no idea exactly which source said what. Also, please note that per the [[WP:OR|policy regarding original research]], material from multiple sources should not be combined to reach or imply a conclusion not explicitly stated by any of the sources; such conclusions are considered original research, which is not permitted in Wikipedia articles. --[[User:SoCalSuperEagle |<font color="darkgreen">'''SoCalSuperEagle'''</font> ]] <font color="black">([[User talk:SoCalSuperEagle|talk]])</font> 20:00, 28 August 2010 (UTC)

You tagged [[Little pichu!]] for deletion under A10. Ithought I'd notify you that the creator removed the template, but then significantly improved the article. It seems possible that it may be good enough for an article of its own, but if so, it would need to be moved to [[Pichu]], which is currently a redirect. I've already added reliable sources, which you assumed weren't and reverted my edits. They're all good sources, incl. the book by local & official SF historian Daniel Bacon, whose video version of the book you might've seen on PBS, and the one about Life in Chinaown, 1840-1950. Bacon created the "Barbary Coast Trail" of SF. The trail is marked with bronze plaques permamantly engraved in the concrete sidewalks along the BCT, and is one of the jewels of this great city. These are 2 wonderful books which I recommend you should read. I might be able to procure a free copy of the Bacon book for you if you're interested! Regards, MM

Maybe I'm wrong, but in any case there's no way that an edit like [[Special:AbuseLog/3543121|this]] would ever be allowed on Wikipedia. : Yes, you may add the source citations tomorrow if you wish. By the way, you may want to consider changing your username since your current username could potentially give other users the impression that you are the subject of the article or are editing on his behalf. On that note, if you actually have a close connection with the subject of the article, then a conflict of interest may exist. --[[User:SoCalSuperEagle |<font color="darkgreen">'''SoCalSuperEagle'''</font> ]] <font color="black">([[User talk:SoCalSuperEagle|talk]])</font> 23:10, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

After completing this step, you may then edit the Air Afrique page and use the edit summary "split content to <nowiki>[[Air Afrique destinations]]</nowiki>" when you remove the destination list from the Air Afrique page.

Heyo. Do you think you could get me some WebCitations for more IPDL entries? This time for 仮面ライダーフォーゼ, and also tack them onto the entry on [[Kamen Rider Series]] if you get the chance? The entries are 商標出願2011-027232 through 商標出願2011-027252. :::Please refrain from including personal attacks in your comments; such attacks will not help resolve the issues with your draft. With that said, existence and notability are two different things. The mere existence of a particular subject by itself generally does not automatically make it notable as well. As I already mentioned in my previous comment, you need to cite reliable sources that cover the subject in detail. That is how the notability of the subject can be established. If sufficient notability can be established, then an article about the subject can be included in Wikipedia. Citing sources also helps readers [[WP:V|verify]] the contents of an article. == New deal for page patrollers ==

Hi {{BASEPAGENAME}},

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the [[WP:Page Curation|current system we introduced in 2011]] is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group '''New Page Reviewer''' has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most ''current'' experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at [[Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Reviewers|'''''New Page Reviewers''''']] and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. How come my edit was reverted? Lisaokhan12 (talk) 22:35, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit was undone because of the following issues
  1. It clearly did not appear to be written from a neutral point of view.
  2. It contained a vulgar phrase, which was unnecessary and made your contribution look unencyclopedic. Also, based on what I've seen while fighting against vandalism, a lot of the edits that contain profanities or vulgar language turn out to be vandalism edits.
  3. The formatting that you used was unnecessary. In fact, when I reviewed your edit in the Firefox browser, the text that you formatted looked squished together due to the large size and was therefore somewhat hard to read.
I hope this helps. SoCalSuperEagle (talk) 23:16, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, one more thing -- your edit didn't really add any new useful information about the article's subject, nor did it make any corrections. SoCalSuperEagle (talk) 23:46, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Mr. SuperEagle, are you aware that the individual you'd reverted on Osmund Lewry is a retired professor of philosophy? What is your background in this field, if you don't mind me asking? Mine, for the record, is none, but I'd sleep easier knowing that Wikipedia is in good hands.24.22.141.252 (talk) 08:42, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

To be honest, I don't really have much of a background in philosophy. I simply happened to notice that the user account in question was a confirmed sockpuppet of someone who has been banned from editing Wikipedia, as you can see by viewing the sockpuppet's user page.
As Wikipedia's banning policy states, "Anyone is free to revert any edits made in defiance of a ban. By banning a user, the community has decided that their edits are prima facie unwanted and may be reverted without any further reason."
Basically, I was just enforcing the user's ban. However, if you believe that the article would be better with the banned user's edits reinstated, that's alright with me, but please note that you will be taking complete responsibility for any of the banned user's contributions that you choose to reinstate. SoCalSuperEagle (talk) 09:57, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
My position is that a Wikipedia ban should not be thoughtlessly applied against anyone whose scholarly work is respected in real life: this is a red flag that we - and who are we, after all - might be getting it wrong.24.22.141.252 (talk) 11:40, 30 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ilurkah (talk) 18:30, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. A great starting point is to take advantage of Wikipedia's new article wizard. As a new user, you should also take the time to read Wikipedia:Your first article.
By the way, here's some helpful information on how to properly inquire about the deletion of any of your page creations in the future.
I hope this helps. Happy editing! SoCalSuperEagle (talk) 19:05, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ANI

[edit]

Hey, I noticed you reported an IP to ANI yesterday who had triggered the edit filters. When I click on the link you provided, I can see what the IP says is that editor's personal information. Shouldn't that be oversighted or removed? Nikkimaria (talk) 23:15, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In general, the oversighters should be notified about the presence of personal information so that it can be removed quickly. Unfortunately, the one time when I asked the oversighters to remove an entry from the edit filter log due to the nature of said entry's contents, I was told that it wasn't yet possible to oversight individual entries in that particular log. SoCalSuperEagle (talk) 00:02, 20 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, okay, didn't know that. In that case, since the IP has been dealt with, would it be wise to take the link off of ANI, just to limit the dissemination of possibly sensitive information (not revdelete, just redact)? Thanks for clarifying. Nikkimaria (talk) 02:25, 20 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The link simply returns a list of all edit filter log entries pertaining to the IP in question; one can access the same list by clicking on a certain link near the top of the user's contribution history page. SoCalSuperEagle (talk) 04:16, 20 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Me and User:Hatchetjones

[edit]

Hi there, I'm sorry I kept on putting this off. Yesterday, I had finished an online quiz in math, and went to wikipedia. User: Hatchetjones was already logged on. When I clicked on his contribs, wondering who in my class was a wikipedian, it said that he vandalised Talk:Crap at 10:24 local time, which was right when I was taking the quiz. Wen I was viewing his contribs, it said that he was not logged on. I want to know: how could this have happened and should I get an alternate account, and how. You can reply anywhere.

TIA,

Buggie111 (talk) 13:30, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm a little confused here. --SoCalSuperEagle (talk) 19:25, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It was in his contribs, otherwise he would not be alowed per school block

Buggie111 (talk) 21:43, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

His contribution history page, if that's what you're referring to, only lists the time and location of each edit that he made while logged in. It doesn't indicate when he actually logged in or logged out. And when I clicked on the diff link that corresponds to the only edit that he's made so far, I saw only the changes that he made to the page Talk:Crap, along with the timestamp for that edit. Anyway, I don't really see why you would need to register an alternate account due to an issue with someone else's account. --SoCalSuperEagle (talk) 23:23, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked today by Icairns

[edit]

Hi,

I was blocked today by Icairns for "spamming" here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:208.74.117.9

I was at work and I was listing references to defunct IHL hockey teams and their players. I run the largest hockeyfight video site on the internet and host thousands of historical video footage clips.

My registered wikipedia username is "igotregistered". I thought I was logged in, apparently I was not.

My question is why was I blocked and considered a spammer? I thought I was following the rules by listing only pertinent information in the correct specified area, ie. "External Links".

Thank you,

Ross —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.114.250.136 (talk) 23:18, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Here's a relevant quote from the first warning message that was placed at the user talk page in question: "Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product." As you have stated above that you run the website in question, you are considered to be affiliated with said website. Furthermore, Wikipedia discourages links to external content that requires registration for viewing. You were given a series of warnings regarding the insertion of inappropriate links and you disregarded them; hence, the tempblock. I hope this answers your question. --SoCalSuperEagle (talk) 02:28, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add unsourced negative commentary to articles. Also, the replacement of the team nickname with a disparaging version did not appear to be helpful and could have been viewed as an attack. Question

[edit]

As I've only ever tagged one page for speedy deletion before (and that was an obvious cut-and-paste copyvio), I just want to make sure I tagged it properly. Was db-1 the right tag for How the internet works? The Blade of the Northern Lights (talk) 02:24, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

To me, that particular article (which no longer exists) appeared to introduce blatant misinformation to Wikipedia; therefore, I would have given it the db-g3 tag. --SoCalSuperEagle (talk) 03:11, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I just took a look at the article's entry in the deletion log, and it seems that the administrator who deleted the page agreed with the db-g1 tag. So I guess the page may have been just incomprehensible enough to justify the use of the db-g1 tag, but I still think the db-g3 tag would have been better in this case. --SoCalSuperEagle (talk) 03:26, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
All right, thanks. I've become mildly interested in vandal-fighting (doesn't involve much collaboration, which is good for me), so I'm trying to figure all of this out. The Blade of the Northern Lights (talk) 04:03, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bring Flashforward Back- Deleted??

[edit]

I created a page on Wikipedia called Bring Flashforward Back.

A day later it was deleted under "Speedy Deletion".

The page was fairly short as the fan campaign has only been around for a little over a month so efforts towards the show are limited as are information about the campaign.

The page was made to educate people on the fan campaign for the show Flashforward currently running called "Bring Flashforward Back" and the efforts being made to bring the show back for a second season.

Under section A3 it states that the reason for deletion is that the article only provides external links and no content for the reader.

The whole page is content educating the reader on the fan campaign.

There is no reason that the page should have been deleted.

Hi SoCalSuperEagle,

I was accused of disruptive editing by you after another user by the username of Grafen accused me of vandalising the Germany National Football Team Wikipedia page. Your review of Managing America Beyond Jefferson

[edit]

Hi SoCalSuperEagle; I am pleased you had an opportunity to review my posted article Managing America Beyond Jefferson and decided this did not fit the encylopedia standards of Wikipedia. I submitted the article to provide the community the opporunity to "think about the economic and social trends in America today". I am well know in historical circles of writing books theme "Historical Truth" 10 books correcting miss information about WWII, 3 three book series called "Managing America" and 1 book Reproting America History " the truth about how the American Revolution started. All my books are written from orginial sources that are in my personal library. I have the complete Journal of the Continental Congess 27 Vol., 4 Vol printed in 1830, of all of Jefferson's business letters and own 29 copyrights and 2 trademarks.

An encyclopdia is a reference work containing articles on various topics dealing with the entire range of human knowledge or with some particular specialty.

As I stated in the article the corruption of one's knowledge base is how ones thoughts controlled. I think your reconsideration is in order

(----) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mchekel (talkcontribs) 19:00, 28 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings, and thank you for your contributions. Unfortunately, to me, your recent submission at AFC clearly reads like an essay, as it looks more like an attempt to provide an answer to a particular question rather than an attempt to make an encyclopedic presentation of facts about a particular subject. The page doesn't have a proper encyclopedic lead section, there are tone issues, and several portions may not be in compliance with Wikipedia's neutral point-of-view policy. All material that is added to a Wikipedia article must be attributable to a reliable published source. Your submission does not contain any inline citations, so I have no idea exactly which source said what. Also, please note that per the policy regarding original research, material from multiple sources should not be combined to reach or imply a conclusion not explicitly stated by any of the sources; such conclusions are considered original research, which is not permitted in Wikipedia articles. --SoCalSuperEagle (talk) 20:00, 28 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Little pichu!"

[edit]

You tagged Little pichu! for deletion under A10. Ithought I'd notify you that the creator removed the template, but then significantly improved the article. It seems possible that it may be good enough for an article of its own, but if so, it would need to be moved to Pichu, which is currently a redirect. Brambleclawx 22:45, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hold on a second. There's a possibility that most (if not all) of the present contents of that page may have been cut-and-pasted from the revision history of Pichu. Furthermore, there may be notability issues. --SoCalSuperEagle (talk) 22:55, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure about notability. I'm not familiar with notability of fictitious characters quite yet. As for copy-paste, it seems that way, so if the article is kept, it would require split templates on the talk I guess. Brambleclawx 22:59, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This is the final revision of the Pichu page just before it was converted into a redirect due to lack of sufficient reception. --SoCalSuperEagle (talk) 23:03, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I went ahead and started the AfD discussion. --SoCalSuperEagle (talk) 23:38, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Chinatown, 1840s

They're all good sources, incl. the book by local & official SF historian Daniel Bacon, whose video version of the book you might've seen on PBS, and the one about Life in Chinaown, 1840-1950. Bacon created the "Barbary Coast Trail" of SF. The trail is marked with bronze plaques permamantly engraved in the concrete sidewalks along the BCT, and is one of the jewels of this great city. These are 2 wonderful books which I recommend you should read. I might be able to procure a free copy of the Bacon book for you if you're interested! SoCal: what is a personal attack on you? and as for your templates, what is "defamation?" Defamation, for instance, is a legal conclusion that judges make in court. Not a wiki editor. And if you are simply taken aback by a comment, is that a "personal attack?"

Here is my comment based on the above, so as to remove "personal" from the point (and OMG risk being banned from editing a now biased good idea called Wiki): what gives any editor on this sight the right to flaunt their power the way that...well, i was going to say you but too personal...do? This whole "think twice before you upset the great editor" is a great peek behind the green curtain that is wiki. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.31.203.30 (talk) 12:18, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't really know why you came to SoCal about this issue, since as far as I can see he isn't editing the article. Maybe I'm wrong, but in any case there's no way that an edit like this would ever be allowed on Wikipedia. Even the much cut-down version that you later added was reverted by a third party. Article submitted with a declined revision

[edit]

I notice that you recently declined a submission of a new article I created. Your stated that the stand-alone article does not substantially expand the information contained in the parent article. Let me tell you that the section of the parent article from which I decided to create the new submission was also edited by me, and that I believed such information should not be included in the parent article but in a newly one, which indeed was created. I also planned to remove this information (fortunately I did not), provided the newly article was accepted. Furthermore, all airlines (defunct or not) has a stand-alone article including its destinations. I therefore do not see the reason why this particular airline should not have it. That said, I ask for a reconsideration of your revision.

Regards --Jetstreamer (talk) 19:54, 18 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Since you had already posted the destination list at the Air Afrique article prior to making the AfC submission, what you wanted to do is technically called an article split. Since the only issue with your AfC submission was the duplication of material, and since consensus clearly does appear to support an article split in this case, you may go ahead and edit the Air Afrique destinations page by clicking here. Replace the redirect with the contents of your declined AfC submission (without the AfC template). For attribution reasons (and to avoid any further misunderstanding), use the phrase "split content from [[Air Afrique]]" as the edit summary for that particular edit. After completing this step, you may then edit the Air Afrique page and use the edit summary "split content to [[Air Afrique destinations]]" when you remove the destination list from the Air Afrique page.
For more information on properly performing article splits, you may wish to read Wikipedia:Splitting. Thank you for your contributions. --SoCalSuperEagle (talk) 21:14, 18 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Verification of the electromagnetically reciprocating engine is on paper at USPTO. Digitally blocked by Ao power. It is easy to find proof of electric cars circa 1900, What kind of motor did they have if rotating e- motors with armatures and brushes are attributed to Edison? You can verify that this motor is simple and extremely powerful only by describing it to someone who is educated in the field of electromagnetism. San Francisco meetup at WMF headquarters

[edit]

Hi SoCalSuperEagle,

I just wanted to give you a heads-up about the next wiki-meetup happening in SF. It'll be located at our very own Wikimedia Foundation offices, and we'd love it if some local editors who are new to the meetup scene came and got some free lunch with us :) Please sign up on the meetup page if you're interested in attending, and I hope to see you soon! ARV

[edit]

Saw that you reported someone using ARV, and thought I should ask where the heck it shows up? I am using Firefox and have the code set but see no difference. Calabe1992 19:37, 17 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If you're using the Vector skin, the ARV tool's Report functionality can be accessed in the same dropdown menu where the Move and Purge options would normally be found. The Report option will appear only when you're at a user's talk page or contributions page. --SoCalSuperEagle (talk) 19:51, 17 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Heh, won't display there for me. I guess really and truly Twinkle will work, just curious. Calabe1992 20:06, 17 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I just noticed that ARV isn't currently installed in your vector.js file, so that might be the problem. --SoCalSuperEagle (talk) 20:19, 17 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

User talk:71.220.198.177 From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia [edit]November 2011

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at User:Thebirdlover, you may be blocked from editing. --SoCalSuperEagle (talk) 06:00, 30 November 2011 (UTC)

The above showed up as a "new message" today, and I am very confused for the following reasons:

  1. 1: I have never even heard of User:Thebirdlover, let alone visited his page. And I certainly never made any edits to that page.
  2. 2: The date, as you can see, is November 2011. Why would it be showing up now?
  3. 3: I always log in under my user name to make edits as Hal Wing. I apologize for not checking my IP address before posting this and, perhaps, it is 71.220.198.177. But I suspect that there has been some sort of mix-up, based on the information I listed above. It concerns me because it makes me wonder if someone is hacking my account or User:Thebirdlover's account.

I am very intolerant of vandalism. As a school teacher, I even left requests several years ago that IP's from my school be permanently blocked from making edits, both because of my respect for Wikipedia and because I was appalled that students were acting maliciously and off-task. I am very much on your side in your efforts to keep Wikipedia's quality high as possible. I am sorry that there has been some apparent confusion here, but I can assure you that I have not been vandalizing anybody's pages. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.220.198.177 (talk) 00:14, 13 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Article Feedback deployment

[edit]

Hey SoCalSuperEagle; I'm dropping you this note because you've used the article feedback tool in the last month or so. On Thursday and Friday the tool will be down for a major deployment; it should be up by Saturday, failing anything going wrong, and by Monday if something does :). Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 21:54, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Article Feedback Tool update

[edit]

Hey SoCalSuperEagle. I'm contacting you because you're involved in the Article Feedback Tool in some way, either as a previous newsletter recipient or as an active user of the system. As you might have heard, a user recently anonymously disabled the feedback tool on 2,000 pages. We were unable to track or prevent this due to the lack of logging feature in AFT5. We're deeply sorry for this, as we know that quite a few users found the software very useful, and were using it on their articles.

We've now re-released the software, with the addition of a logging feature and restrictions on the ability to disable. Obviously, we're not going to automatically re-enable it on each article—we don't want to create a situation where it was enabled by users who have now moved on, and feedback would sit there unattended—but if you're interested in enabling it for your articles, it's pretty simple to do. Just go to the article you want to enable it on, click the "request feedback" link in the toolbox in the sidebar, and AFT5 will be enabled for that article.

Again, we're very sorry about this issue; hopefully it'll be smooth sailing after this :). If you have any questions, just drop them at the talkpage. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) 21:58, 1 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. Apparently, someone from my IP address made changes to a Pokemon page, and you removed the changes due to "advertising".

Well, first of all, I don't have a Wikipedia account, and second of all, I know *nothing* about Pokemon. You sure it came from this IP addy? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.98.123.176 (talk) 22:51, 7 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

year change

[edit]

Hi you recently edited a page on yuba city California. Before hand i posted the founding year i was just ccurious if you are actually correct as it was well before 1849 when the town was founded. The document at http://www.visityubasutter.com/pdf/historic_landmarks.pdf explicitly indicates that Yuba City was founded in 1849. In addition, the Yuba-Sutter Chamber of Commerce website has a page on the area's history that shows when the city was founded and named; the page can be found at http://www.yubasutterchamber.com/index.php/j-stuff/2012-10-10-06-11-26/area-history. --SoCalSuperEagle (talk) 18:54, 10 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Chuck Dorfman

[edit]

Hi SuperEagle,

Can we get this moved to the user page please, we would like to work on it so that it meets wiki standards. Thank you. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Chuck_Dorfman HomeProPlus (talk) 05:45, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It's actually better to keep the draft in the draft space rather than move it into your userspace if you intend to continue working on it. By the way, since your draft mentions that its subject is a member of your organization, I'm concerned that you may have a conflict of interest (COI). COI editing is strongly discouraged; for more information, please read Wikipedia's policy regarding COI editing. --SoCalSuperEagle (talk) 09:15, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

14:17:41, 7 February 2015 review of submission by Cbe1321

[edit]

Cbe1321 (talk) 14:17, 7 February 2015 (UTC) Helping friend (Plaintiff), Defendant, filed Motion, and it was granted by the Court. The Motion was granted based on false statements and fraudulent receipts being submitted. Plaintiff, was not notified to appear in Court to dispute Defendant's claims. Due to defendant's attorney submission of incorrect address info on Plaintiff. How to dispute or what kind of Motion to file in Court to stop court ruling?[reply]

I am not a legal expert, so I can't really answer that question at this time. Furthermore, if your recent draft creation was intended to be a how-to guide, then I should let you know that such guides are not appropriate for Wikipedia. This is because Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a collection of how-to guides. --SoCalSuperEagle (talk) 18:12, 7 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Rolling on the floor eating a bagel is a real thing, why are you denying its existence here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Rolling_on_the_Floor_Eating_A_Bagel This is something people actually do. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.202.181.126 (talkcontribs)

The rejection of your draft submission does not automatically imply a denial of the subject's existence. The main issue is whether the subject is truly a notable thing. If so, then you need to prove it by citing reliable sources that address the subject in detail. --SoCalSuperEagle (talk) 01:03, 22 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
F*CKING SON OF A BATCH MOTHER F*CKER. Rolling on th floor eating a bagel is real, and you're a denier!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.202.181.126 (talk) 05:56, 2 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Please refrain from including personal attacks in your comments; such attacks will not help resolve the issues with your draft. Citing sources also helps readers verify the contents of an article. I hope this helps. --SoCalSuperEagle (talk) 19:01, 4 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. New deal for page patrollers

[edit]

Hi SoCalSuperEagle,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
