Hey Another Believer,
Hey Another Believer,
I was wondering at your earliest convenience if you could do me a favor and add all of the Season 12 Dancing With the Stars contestants to this page: List of Dancing with the Stars (U.S.) competitors, usually its done by now but no one has seemed to do it. I would but I am afraid I will screw it up. The reason I am asking you is b/c I know how much you like to edit DWTS on Wiki. Thanks so much. I am currently working on categorizing the Grammy categories for mid importance. Since I have created this plan, do you mind if I finish them off tomorrow and you do other parts so it's easier for me to finish (since I'll know which ones I have done already.) If there is a problem you can go ahead =)--Blackjacks101 (talk) 01:54, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

:I think I finished most of the normal categories and categorized them and labeled them as mid importance. I hope it helps. When going through all the articles I saw how many articles really needed improvement. Hopefully with this group we can get to them fast! After we finish finalizing the structure of the task force, would you agree that we need to improve all the FL and GA articles that are affected with this new category change. (A user added info without sourcing). And then we need to change the names of the new categories back to Grammy Award for Best...instead of just Best (which again was that users fault).--Blackjacks101 (talk) 14:59, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for the invitation, but I can't take part on the task force. I'll surely translate the FL that come up from it to the w:es. Currently, I am translating Uncle Tupelo with another great user and if I finished it soon, I would collaborate with you. I have a few questions for you since I don't understand a few things. On the discussion for FL for Best Pop Vocal Album they want me to switch the font size of the nominees to 90%. How do I do that? Also, can you lead me to a discussion where Rock on the Net created a consensus that it's reliable. And finally on my 1967 Grammy finalists reference the user wants the ref pg number to appear as p. 10 not just 10, yet I am unaware on how to do it. If you can help it would be greatly appreciated.--Blackjacks101 (talk) 18:06, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

: Looks pretty good. Were you able to find a reason the categories were merged (or, the reason the award was only presented once)? It is too bad there isn't a bit more information out there about this award, because this category will be difficult to get to GA status since it is so short. I was able to get the Hard Rock/Metal article (see profile) to GA status even though it was only awarded once, but that's because it was controversial. If there is any way to expand this article further, it might help. Also, I would recommend adding an image of the winner. You are always welcome to request feedback or ask questions on my talk page, but I might also recommend asking questions on the Grammy Awards task force talk page so that other members can offer feedback as well! --<font color="navy">Another Believer</font> (<font color="cc6600">Talk</font>) 19:05, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

The article looks good to me. The prose is polished, and the images are good and their licenses are fine. I see some minor proofing errors that I will just go ahead and fix later today, if that's OK. Beyond that, I'll make a short list of slightly larger questions or suggestions and post them on the article's talk page. Might not get to this until quite a bit later in the day. There was a brief, relevant discussion here, and Billboard, iTunes, Amazon etc. all capitalize it. I've been watching the progress of the GA nom of Hands Across Hawthorne. If you decide to upload anything from Flickr, this tool might come in handy. You have to be logged into the Commons to use it, and you have to check the Flickr license to make sure it's free and fetch the Flickr image number ahead of time so you can enter it where the tool wants it. I've only used the tool a couple of times, so I'm not sure it will always work. Finetooth (talk) 04:33, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

No problem with the article review. I would love to help and will put time into it soon. Right now I am out of the country for until July; so, expect help then. Which articles would need the most work? The albums themselves should be relatively easy as long as we can find reviews of them; shouldn't be hard. Thanks for taking the Grammy article and working so hard. Before, I was the only one essentially doing any work on it. : Of course, you are more than welcome to work on any article that interest you. I just saw that you were a fan of the genre and wanted to point out that it would be fairly easy to create a Good Topic since there are only four musicians and four albums. I doubt there are too many Wikipedia contributors that focus on zydeco/cajun music or culture, so this might be a great area for you to show off your work!. --<font color="navy">Another Believer</font> (<font color="cc6600">Talk</font>) 15:11, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

Hi, thank you for your good work at WP, in particular your commitment to quality through the GA and featured processes.

I watchlist Ohconfucius's page and saw your post querying his removal of a few common-term links. Please note that one of WP's pillars says "Wikipedia is not a dictionary". While the line is sometimes not hard and fast, the more you link, the less the high-value links are likely to be clicked on (pitifully few clickings anyway, we suspect). The text can easily become messy with individual linkings, too. I would have unlinked more than OC, in fact: "stockings", "lipstick"—these are commonplace. "Fedora" is justified, as an uncommon term, IMO. I noticed "homosexuality" was unlinked; surely you don't want to go back to a link for that? I am homosexual, and I don't like to think it's exotic and non-mainstream—somehow so little-known that people need to divert and read about it; that's what a link appears to imply, and the gay and lesbian WikiProject long ago discussed and accepted the notion that it's fine not to link the word. Cheers. <font color="darkgreen">Tony</font > <font color="darkgreen">(talk)</font > 15:46, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

: Thank you for your feedback. I very much respect WP processes--I just thought it was a large number of terms to unlink. Based on Ohconfucius's profile and experience, I had no reason to doubt the edits that were made. I just wanted an explanation due to the number of terms I was surprised to see unlinked (USA Today, publishers, etc.) I trust that the edits made were constructive and if you agree then I am satisfied. I see that you've been creating NRHP articles in Oregon again. Like last time, these articles have little to no content. Though obviously it's no requirement, I (personally) would appreciate it if you used Elkman's tool to generate an infobox at least for these articles. Thank you for at least rating them Low-importance this time. I plan on going through and adding infoboxes to these (again), but in the future, including at least an infobox with the NRISref is generally standard stub-creating practice in WP:NRHP. Thank you again for your contributions!--Dudemanfellabra (talk) 22:27, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

The article definitely isn't ready for a GAN yet, but when or if it is, I'd be happy to participate. Before considering a GAN, however, it would be good to get a DYK hook. This tool counted 1,742 characters in the article's prose, so it does (by a slight margin) qualify for DYK. But I can't think of a good hook with a reliable reference. Avoid doing any more reverts to the article—You should not have done this one: It is better to leave out something potentially libelous than to leave it in. SarekOfVulcan is an experienced editor and is enforcing the intent of WP:BLP. The content can always be added again later, whether that's today or next month doesn't make much difference really. It is best to keep in mind WP:OWN (which is understandable, but not defensible, since this article is your baby) and scrutinize edits only for whether they are an improvement or not in terms of The Five Pillars. If you feel yourself taking any edit as personal or an attack, etc. leave it, and walk around the block or whatever. There are plenty of eyes on the article. —EncMstr (talk) 21:31, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

Hi. Notability is not transferable. Miranda Lambert may be notable, but that doesn't automatically transfer to her group (which doesn't have its own article), other members of the group (ditto) or individual albums/tracks, any more than it does to her cat or dog. It is a forthcoming release with no independent notability by a non-notable group, only one member of which appears to be notable. I think you will have to wait until the release takes place and sells enough to meet the Music notability guidelines, substantiated by independent verifiable sources. <font face="chiller"><font color="red"><b>Jimfbleak - </b></font></font><font face="arial"><font color="green"> talk to me?</font></font> 05:43, 11 August 2011 (UTC)

::Sorry, thought I'd responded. Your sources confirm the existence of the track, but they don't, as far as I can see, establish notability. Blogs obviously aren't RS, the group's website isn't independent, and the video is both non-RS and unavailable to me. The other sites don't give an obvious impression of being RS, anyone can set up a record review website. If you think they are reliable sources, you will need to link them to their Wikipedia articles (if they don't have one, they are probably not RS).

::The comments above still apply. A forthcoming recording by a group which doesn't have its own article is going to struggle for notability. WikiCup 2011 March newsletter

We are half way through round two of the WikiCup, which will end on 28 April. Of the 64 current contestants, 32 will make it through to the next round; the two highest in each pool, and the 16 next highest scorers. At the time of writing, our current overall leader is Zanzibar Hurricanehink (submissions) with 231 points, who leads Pool H. Poland Piotrus (submissions) (Pool G) also has over 200 points, while 9 others (three of whom are in Pool D) have over 100 points. Remember that certain content (specifically, articles/portals included in at least 20 Wikipedias as of 31 December 2010 or articles which are considered "vital") is worth double points if promoted to good or featured status, or if it appears on the main page in the Did You Know column. There were some articles last round which were eligible for double points, but which were not claimed for. For more details, see Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring.

A running total of claims can be seen here. However, numerous competitors are yet to score at all- please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. The number of points that will be needed to reach round three is not clear- everyone needs to get their entries in now to guarantee their places! If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. J Milburn and The ed17 00:51, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

DWTS

Hey Another Believer, I was wondering at your earliest convenience if you could do me a favor and add all of the Season 12 Dancing With the Stars contestants to this page: List of Dancing with the Stars (U.S.) competitors, usually its done by now but no one has seemed to do it. I would but I am afraid I will screw it up. The reason I am asking you is b/c I know how much you like to edit DWTS on Wiki. Thanks so much. TVFAN24 (talk) 22:50, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

Hello! (re: Grammy Awards task force)

Hi AB. I am in, I would like to keep the good work for the Grammys. BTW, have you seen this? http://www.billboard.com/news?prev=20#/news/grammys-announce-broad-overhaul-of-award-1005114392.story Is the newest info about the Grammy categories. Regards. Jaespinoza (talk) 17:12, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

Great! Hopefully other contributors will be interested as well. --Another Believer (Talk) 17:32, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
I would be interested as well! Especially with these major changes the Grammy articles will need as much help as they can get.--Blackjacks101 (talk) 19:42, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
Agreed. Thanks so much for your interest! This change means a lot of articles need updating. --Another Believer (Talk) 20:39, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

Hey

I am currently working on categorizing the Grammy categories for mid importance. Since I have created this plan, do you mind if I finish them off tomorrow and you do other parts so it's easier for me to finish (since I'll know which ones I have done already.) If there is a problem you can go ahead =)--Blackjacks101 (talk) 01:54, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

I think I finished most of the normal categories and categorized them and labeled them as mid importance.
Sounds good! Thanks so much for your help. --Another Believer (Talk) 17:05, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for the invitation, but I can't take part on the task force. I'll surely translate the FL that come up from it to the w:es. Currently, I am translating Uncle Tupelo with another great user and if I finished it soon, I would collaborate with you. Best regards, мιѕѕ мαηzαηα (talk) 23:05, 12 April 2011 (UTC) P.S. Take into account that I'm not a native speaker of English, so be patient!

No worries! I just saw some of your previous work and thought I would extend an invitation. Take care! --Another Believer (Talk) 23:07, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

WPORE COTW 2.0 - the picture edition

Greetings one and all. For some of you, this will be your first time receiving one of these messages, as it has been a year since the WikiProject Oregon Collaboration of the Week (COTW) was a regular thing. My hope is it gets back to being a regular thing.

Usually I would go over the past COTW, but we are basically starting out anew. So, without further adieu, this edition is our semi-annual picture drive. We usually try to do it when there is decent weather in the state, and today seems to fit the bill. Now although you are encouraged to go out and take pictures, you can also just search the internet for images that have the proper licensing and upload those. Flickr is one site that has a fair amount of content with the proper licensing (most images on Flickr are not compatible). See WP:COPYRIGHT in general. For some “free” sources, check out the our dormant subproject that has some links to sources.

Lastly, if you need to know what images we need, here are the requests. Please remove the request from the talk page if you add an image.

Finally (this is not image related), as the years have passed, we have lost many good editors, and others, like myself, are no longer in school or are working full-time or both, and thus are less active in the project. The project lives on, but it has created a bit of a power vacuum without a de facto cabal still around all the time. With that in mind, I encourage newer project members to step-up and fill some leadership type roles. Granted, we have no formal ruling junta or anything and no real defined roles, but there are many maintenance type tasks that some of us just took on to keep the project going. For instance, I ran the COTW, was pretty much the only one doing assessments, updating the portal, and even handing out the awards. I am sure others in the project can name what things they have done. The point being, that while I enjoyed those and still do some of those, I simply no longer have the free time to do all of it at a level that the project deserves. That said, I hope to start a discussion at WT:ORE where we can see if some newer editors would like to step-up and take on some of these tasks, which will hopefully make for a more inclusive project, and maybe get us back to the heyday of say 2008 when things were really rocking for WikiProject Oregon.

As always, please click here to opt out of these messages, or click here to make a suggestion for a future COTW. Aboutmovies (talk) 22:20, 23 April 2011 (UTC)

Hello, you commented on the above FLC and I just wanted to let you know I've restarted the nomination as it somewhat stalled. Any contribution you'd like to make to the restarted nomination would be gratefully received. All the best. The Rambling Man (talk) 18:31, 24 April 2011 (UTC)

Hey (Re: Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album)

I have a few questions for you since I don't understand a few things. On the discussion for FL for Best Pop Vocal Album they want me to switch the font size of the nominees to 90%. How do I do that? Also, can you lead me to a discussion where Rock on the Net created a consensus that it's reliable. And finally on my 1967 Grammy finalists reference the user wants the ref pg number to appear as p. 10 not just 10, yet I am unaware on how to do it. If you can help it would be greatly appreciated.--Blackjacks101 (talk) 18:06, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the help! Now I just need to know how the switch the font size.--Blackjacks101 (talk) 19:32, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
Still on my "to do" list. :) --Another Believer (Talk) 19:42, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
Done. --Another Believer (Talk) 02:05, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
Thanks again! I switched all the Rock on the Net links, even though I'm pretty sure it's reliable. I'll just try to avoid using it as much as possible.--Blackjacks101 (talk) 21:10, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
Good idea. --Another Believer (Talk) 22:16, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
Sorry for asking you for more help again lol! I'm still a noob here. But do you mind clarifying what Adabow meant by making the headers for the columns and rows invisible? He said it at the FLC for Best Pop Vocal Album.--Blackjacks101 (talk) 19:54, 29 April 2011 (UTC)

Laurelhurst Theater

Thanks. I took the photo yesterday after noticing that the theater was on the list of reqphotos. By the time I got home with the new photo, the article had an image and no room for a second image. The solution was to do some research and add some useful text. I added barely enough to squeeze in the second image, but the resulting layout is less than optimal. I think I can find a few more details about renovations between 1923 and 2000, but I'm not sure. Still looking. Finetooth (talk) 19:22, 26 April 2011 (UTC)

WikiCup 2011 April newsletter

Round 2 of the 2011 WikiCup is over, and the new round will begin on 1 May. Note that any points scored in the interim (that is, for content promoted or reviews completed on 29-30 April) can be claimed in the next round, but please do not start updating your submissions' pages until the next round has begun. Fewer than a quarter of our original contestants remain; 32 enter round 3, and, in two months' time, only 16 will progress to our penultimate round. Scotland Casliber (submissions), who led Pool F, was our round champion, with 411 points, while 7 contestants scored between 200 and 300 points. At the other end of the scale, a score of 41 was high enough to reach round 3; more than five times the score required to reach round 2, and competition will no doubt become tighter now we're approaching the later rounds. Those progressing to round 3 were spread fairly evenly across the pools; 4 progressed from each of pools A, B, E and H, while 3 progressed from both pools C and F. Pools D and G were the most successful; each had 5 contestants advancing.

This round saw our first good topic points this year; congratulations to Zanzibar Hurricanehink (submissions) and Assyrian people Nergaal (submissions) who also led pool H and pool B respectively. However, there remain content types for which no points have yet been scored; featured sounds, featured portals and featured topics. In addition to prizes for leaderboard positions, the WikiCup awards other prizes; for instance, last year, a prize was awarded to Democratic Republic of the Congo Candlewicke (submissions) (who has been eliminated) for his work on In The News. For this reason, working on more unusual content could be even more rewarding than usual!

Sorry this newsletter is going out a little earlier than expected- there is a busy weekend coming up! A running total of claims can be seen here. Good luck! Hello!

Hi AB. What do you think of this expansion: Latin Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album?. Please let me know if there is something you think I need to add. Thanks. Jaespinoza (talk) 02:30, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

Looks pretty good. --Another Believer (Talk) 19:05, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

Laurelhurst Park

Congrats on the DYK. I have a bit of space now, and I was thinking of doing the kind of search that I did for the Laurelhurst Theater in back issues of The Oregonian to see what I might find about the park, if you like. Finetooth (talk) 19:07, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

I am, alas, finding little of interest in the older Oregonians. There's stuff about water lines, ducks, two owls, a raccoon, band concerts, and other passing events, but nothing especially noteworthy. Finetooth (talk) 17:07, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

WikiCup 2011 May newsletter

We're half way through round 3 of the 2011 WikiCup. There are currently 32 remaining in the competition, but only 16 will progress to our penultimate round. Scotland Casliber (submissions), of pool D, is our overall leader with nearly 200 points, while pools A, B and C are led by Texas Racepacket (submissions), Zanzibar Hurricanehink (submissions) and Saskatchewan Canada Hky (submissions) respectively. The score required to reach the next round is 35, though this will no doubt go up significantly as the round progresses. We have a good number of high scorers, but also a considerable number who are yet to score. Please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. Also, an important note concerning nominations at featured article candidates: if you are nominating content for which you intend to claim WikiCup points, please make this clear in the nomination statement so that the FAC director and his delegates are aware of the fact.

A running total of claims can be seen here. Glee Cast/cast

Hi, re this edit, I think "Glee Cast" was correct, as it's intended to refer to the group name. There was a brief, relevant discussion here, and Billboard, iTunes, Amazon etc. all capitalize it. If the template was for the "Glee cast members", I'd definitely agree with lowercase, but here it's specifically the music group. Frickative 03:01, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

Main page appearance

Hello! This is a note to let the main editors of this article know that it will be appearing as the main page featured article on June 14, 2011. You can view the TFA blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/June 14, 2011. If the previous blurb needs tweaking, you might change it—following the instructions of the suggested formatting. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :D Thanks! ۞ Tbhotch & (ↄ), Problems with my English? 02:46, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

Categories for discussion nomination of Category:Proper Records albums

Category:Proper Records albums, which you created, has been nominated for discussion. If you would like to participate in the discussion, you are invited to add your comments at the category's entry on the Categories for discussion page. Thank you. The article 10 Songs for the New Depression has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable album, sources are nothing more than track listings.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Flickr upload tool

Grammy Award for Best Zydeco or Cajun Music Album

No problem with the article review. I would love to help and will put time into it soon. Right now I am out of the country for until July; so, expect help then. Which articles would need the most work? The albums themselves should be relatively easy as long as we can find reviews of them; shouldn't be hard. Thanks for taking the Grammy article and working so hard. Before, I was the only one essentially doing any work on it. Michael miceli (talk) 09:21, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

Of course, you are more than welcome to work on any article that interest you. --Another Believer (Talk) 15:11, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

Linking

Cheers. Tony (talk) 15:46, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your feedback. Thanks again! --Another Believer (Talk) 15:52, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

We've all got shoes that travel

...and apparently, hands to hold. ;)

AB, thanks for your kind words over at my talk page. I often feel very alone in my attempts to improve Maya Angelou articles, which is why I go months and months between working on them. It's discouraging to think that all my efforts aren't making much of an impact, so my enthusiasm and motivation waxes and wanes. So I appreciate the praise; it's very helpful. I'm glad that you think Dr. Angelou's articles are well-written; she so deserves them to be.

Also, congrats on your beautiful HoH article. Do I see another FA in your future? ;) Christine (talk) 17:58, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

AB, thanks again for your kind words. The Traveling Shoes article has actually turned out quite well, I think. Now that it's finished, I have just one more of Dr. Angelou's books to expand, which is a big deal because I've been at it for a few years now. My goal is to have substantial articles on all six of her autobiographies and then get her bio article up to FA. Like I said above, she so deserves it. Christine (talk) 11:31, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

I've nominated the list again. Could you leave some feedback? =) Crystal Clear x3 05:37, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

NRHP

I've been having fun with them. I started by printing the complete National Register of Historic Places listings in Southeast Portland, Oregon, and began working my way through them. It would have saved a bit of travel time if I'd thought to organize the list in even smaller subgroups by address. Yesterday I found myself taking a photo of the Jessie M. Raymond House, which is next door to the Leslie M. Scott House, which I'd photographed earlier in the week without realizing that another NRHP was right beside it. In any case, the Southeast list is down to 24 still needing photos. Weather permitting, I'll probably knock off one or two more today. Would you be interested in working the list up to FL class and doing a co-nomination when we think it's ready? Lots of the description boxes are still empty, and that looks like a lot of work just by itself. Maybe a couple of the images should be re-shot too. Not sure. WikiCup 2011 June newsletter

We are half way through 2011, and entering the penultimate round of this year's WikiCup; the semi-finals are upon us! Points scored in the interim (29/30 June) may be counted towards next round, but please do not update your submissions' pages until the next round has begun. 16 contestants remain, and all have shown dedication to the project to reach this far. Our round leader was Scotland Casliber (submissions) who, among other things, successfully passed three articles through featured article candidates and claimed an impressive 29 articles at Did You Know, scoring 555 points. Casliber led pool D. Pool A was led by Ohio Wizardman (submissions), claiming points for a featured article, a featured list and seven good article reviews, while pool C was led by Norway Eisfbnore (submissions), who claimed for two good articles, ten articles at Did You Know and four good article reviews. They scored 154 and 118 respectively. Pool B was by far our most competitive pool; six of the eight competitors made it through to round 4, with all of them scoring over 100 points. The pool was led by Zanzibar Hurricanehink (submissions), who claimed for, among other things, three featured articles and five good articles. In addition to the four pool leaders, 12 others (the four second places, and the 8 next highest overall) make up our final 16. The lowest scorer who reached round 4 scored 76 points; a significant increase on the 41 needed to reach round 3. Eight of our semi-finalists scored at least twice as much as this.

No points were awarded this round for featured pictures, good topics or In the News, and no points have been awarded in the whole competition for featured topics, featured portals or featured sounds. Instead, the highest percentage of points has come from good articles. Featured articles, despite their high point cost, are low in number, and so, overall, share a comparable number of points with Did You Know, which are high in number but low in cost. A comparatively small but still considerable number of points come from featured lists and good article reviews, rounding out this round's overall scores.

We would again like to thank United Kingdom Jarry1250 (submissions) and Bavaria Stone (submissions) for invaluable background work, as well as all of those helping to provide reviews for the articles listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Please do keep using it, and please do help by providing reviews for the articles listed there. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews generally at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup.

Two final notes: Firstly, please remember to state your participation in the WikiCup when nominating articles at FAC. Finally, some WikiCup-related statistics can be seen here and here, for those interested, though it appears that neither are completely accurate at this time. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck! Grammy Awards Task Force Update

<font=3>I'd like to offer an update of the Grammy Awards task force. The task force was established 3 months ago with 26 featured lists and 8 good articles. Since then, the project has increased the number of featured lists to 39 and good articles to 10, a major accomplishment for a small task force in such a short period of time! There are currently 2 Grammy-related lists at FLC (Latin Grammy Award for Song of the Year and Grammy Award for Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance), so be sure to offer feedback/comments if possible. Also, a Sources page has been set up to provide reliable sources for future use--this tool will be very helpful for finding references quickly.

NRHP articles

I see that you've been creating NRHP articles in Oregon again. Like last time, these articles have little to no content. Though obviously it's no requirement, I (personally) would appreciate it if you used Elkman's tool to generate an infobox at least for these articles. Thank you for at least rating them Low-importance this time. I plan on going through and adding infoboxes to these (again), but in the future, including at least an infobox with the NRISref is generally standard stub-creating practice in WP:NRHP. We are half way through the penultimate round of this year's WikiCup; there is less than a month to go before we have our final 8. Our pool leaders are New Zealand Adabow (submissions) (Pool A, 189 points) and Russia PresN (submissions) (Pool B, 165 points). The number of points required to reach the next round is not clear at this time; there are some users who still do not have any recorded points. Please remember to update your submissions' pages promptly. In addition, congratulations to PresN, who scored the first featured topic points in the competition for his work on Thatgamecompany related articles. Most points this round generally have, so far, come from good articles, with only one featured article (White-bellied Sea Eagle, from Scotland Casliber (submissions)) and two featured lists (Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story, from PresN and Grammy Award for Best Native American Music Album, from Another Believer (submissions)). Points for Did You Know and good article reviews round out the scoring. No points have been awarded for In the News, good topics or featured pictures this round, and no points for featured sounds or portals have been awarded in the entire competition. On an unrelated note, preparation will be beginning soon for next year's WikiCup- watch this space!

There is little else to be said beyond the usual. This article was mentioned at WP:AN/I#BLP violations in DYK on front page, and I just mentioned your re-insertion of the negative BLP material there. --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 19:36, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

And that was your 3rd revert, not your second one. --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 20:52, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
Of the same material? I will need to review revert rules, but I appreciate the link for future reference. I thought the rules applied to the edit warring over the exact same content, not different pieces of content within the same article. Look, I am happy to cooperate with you here and I am not dismissing your concerns, I was just asking for discussion before content removal. --Another Believer (Talk) 20:55, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
Check the link. It doesn't have to be the same content. 3 reverts are acceptable -- your (or for that matter, my) next one would probably result in a block.--SarekOfVulcan (talk) 21:07, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
Understood. Thank you for the explanation and warning, sincerely. --Another Believer (Talk) 21:19, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

Bitar Mansion

EM, I very much appreciate your comments. I will not be doing any additional reverts on the article, as mentioned in the above section. I certainly acknowledge Sarek's experience and have never dismissed his/her concerns. I do not feel this article is mine; I just happen to disagree with the concern raised, hence my multiple requests for discussion on the talk page. I look forward to continued discussion and to expanding the article. Thanks again--I am happy to know that other contributors have my best interest in mind. --Another Believer (Talk) 21:48, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

OK. --Another Believer (Talk) 14:55, 11 August 2011 (UTC)
Sorry, thought I'd responded.
The comments above still apply. A forthcoming recording by a group which doesn't have its own article is going to struggle for notability. There are hundreds of music articles deleted because the creators don't distinguish between existence and notability. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 17:55, 15 August 2011 (UTC)
Hmm, OK. I guess I will just re-start the article once I feel there are enough reliable sources. --Another Believer (Talk) 18:08, 15 August 2011 (UTC)

WikiCup 2011 July newsletter

The finals are upon us; we're down to the last few. One of the eight remaining contestants will be this year's WikiCup champion! 150 was the score needed to progress to the final; just under double the 76 required to reach round 4, and more than triple the 41 required to reach round 3. Our eight finalists are:

 • Scotland Casliber (submissions), Pool A's winner. Casliber has the highest total score in the competition, with 1528, the bulk of which is made up of 8 featured articles. He has the highest number of total featured articles (8, 1 of which was eligible for double points) and total did you knows (72) of any finalist. Casliber writes mostly on biology, including ornithology, botany and mycology.
 • Russia PresN (submissions), Pool B's winner and the highest scorer this round. PresN is the only finalist who has scored featured topic points, and he has gathered an impressive 330, but most of his points come from his 4 featured articles, one of which scored double. PresN writes mostly on video games and the Hugo Awards.
 • Zanzibar Hurricanehink (submissions), Pool A's runner-up. Hurricanehink's points are mostly from his 30 good articles, more than any other finalist, and he is also the only finalist to score good topic points. Hurricanehink, as his name suggests, writes mostly on meteorology.
 • Ohio Wizardman (submissions), Pool B's runner-up. Wizardman has completed 86 good article reviews, more than any other finalist, but most of his points come from his 2 featured articles. Wizardman writes mostly on American sport, especially baseball.
 • Principality of Sealand Miyagawa (submissions), the "fastest loser" (Pool A). Miyagawa has written 3 featured lists, one of which was awarded double points, more than any other finalist, but he was awarded points mostly for his 68 did you knows. Miyagawa writes on a variety of topics, including dogs, military history and sport.
 • Canada Resolute (submissions), the second "fastest loser" (Pool B). Most of Resolute's points come from his 9 good articles. He writes mostly on Canadian topics, including ice hockey.
 • Greece Yellow Evan (submissions), who was joint third "fastest loser" (Pool A). Most of Evan's points come from his 10 good articles, and he writes mostly on meteorology.
 • Australia Sp33dyphil (submissions), who was joint third "fastest loser" (Pool B). Most of Phil's points come from his 9 good articles, 4 of which (more than any other finalist) were eligible for double points. He writes mostly on aeronautics.

We say goodbye to our seven other semi-finalists, Another Believer (submissions), Poland Piotrus (submissions), United Kingdom Grandiose (submissions), Bavaria Stone (submissions), Norway Eisfbnore (submissions), Saskatchewan Canada Hky (submissions) and Wisconsin MuZemike (submissions). Everyone still in the competition at this stage has done fantastically well, and contributed greatly to Wikipedia. We're on the home straight now, and we will know our winner in two months.

In other news, preparations for next year's competition have begun with a brainstorming thread. Please, feel free to drop by and share any thoughts you have about how the competition should work next year. Sign ups are not yet open, but will be opened in due course. Watch this space. Further, there has been a discussion about the rule whereby those in the WikiCup must delcare their participation when nominating articles at featured article candidates. This has resulted in a bot being created by new featured article delegate Ucucha (talk · contribs). The bot will leave a message on FAC pages if the nominator is a participant in the WikiCup.

A reminder of the rules: any points scored after August 29 may be claimed for the final round, and please remember to update submission pages promptly. If you are concerned that your nomination, be it at good article candidates, a featured process or anywhere else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews.
