== Some feedback on your bio article ==

This is in response to the message you left on my talk page. I assume you were talking about the draft article currently in your sandbox: [[User:Kllwiki/sandbox]] I just took a quick look but from that quick look it seems very nice. The following are just minor suggestions:

In the intro you say "he spent a very productive career on the faculty of the Department of Civil Engineering" that sounds just a bit promotional to me. I would either take out the "very productive" or rephrase it so that it's something a bit more substantial and can be quantified and supported, e.g., "he was a prolific author who published X number of papers"

In the external links, rather than list out the raw URL you can do it like this:
[http://chpc.ut.ac.ir/download/eh.pdf Obituary] the code for that is: <nowiki>[http://chpc.ut.ac.ir/download/eh.pdf Obituary]</nowiki> A wikilink can also link to external web sites as well as to pages on Wikipedia. That's sort of a judgement thing, I think it looks better to not list the raw URL and that is the way most of the articles I've seen do it, but I can see wanting to list the URL so that people know where they are going before they click.

The contributions section is too promotional. Things like this: "the beginning of a brilliant career in computational mechanics" might cause the article to be rejected or if not it will eventually get tagged and reworked by someone to be more encyclopedic. This stood out to me more than the first one I mentioned. "Brilliant" is really hard to quantify and not the kind of language you would usually expect in an encyclopedia. If you use that kind of language at all it would usually be referencing something someone else said about him in an external source "The university gave him an award and described his career as brilliant". As I read further I see you have some quotes like that anyway so I would just remove "brilliant".

Hope that was useful. Looks like a very good bio article. Cheers. --[[User:MadScientistX11|MadScientistX11]] ([[User talk:MadScientistX11|talk]]) 16:42, 18 July 2014 (UTC)

<!-- PLACE YOUR HELP QUESTION AFTER THIS LINE -->

I have been working on a biographical article for Frank Harrison American physician and university president. He does not have a middle name that I know of. The draft article is in my sandbox.

There is an existing Wikipedia page for Frank Harrison that redirects to Frank G. Harrison.

How can I resolve this conflict and add a page for Frank Harrison the physician & university president?

Many thanks.

:Hello. I recommend you call the article "Frank Harrison (physician)" or some such just to avoid confusion. further advice

[edit]

As an experienced editor here who works extensively with articles on academics, I gave the article a further review. He is obviously notable, both under WP:PROF and, because of his books, as WP:AUTHOR. There is some considerable rewriting needed, however. (1), add reviews of his books, which are needed to clarify his notability . (2). Rewrite the timeline as a paragraph, omitting minor positions. Clarify that the professorships in Illinois, Texas, and Arizona were full professorships. Find a specific source for the bio--there does not seem to be one listed. (3) Are the journal publications selected or complete? We usually do selected. (4)We do not normally emphasise patents unless they are commercially exploited--it would be best to say he received 5, and give the details in a footnote. Don't use full caps, even tho the patents themselves do. I';d advise you to do this all quickly. Please don't be disheartened by the previous review--just as anyone can edit here, anyone can review. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Some feedback on your bio article

[edit]

This is in response to the message you left on my talk page. I assume you were talking about the draft article currently in your sandbox: User:Kllwiki/sandbox I just took a quick look but from that quick look it seems very nice.

In the external links, rather than list out the raw URL you can do it like this: Obituary the code for that is: [http://chpc.ut.ac.ir/download/eh.pdf Obituary] A wikilink can also link to external web sites as well as to pages on Wikipedia.

Cheers. --MadScientistX11 (talk) 16:42, 18 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Bruce Irons (engineer) may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Help me!

[edit]

I have been working on a biographical article for Frank Harrison American physician and university president. He does not have a middle name that I know of. The draft article is in my sandbox.

There is an existing Wikipedia page for Frank Harrison that redirects to Frank G. Harrison.

How can I resolve this conflict and add a page for Frank Harrison the physician & university president?

Many thanks.

Kllwiki (talk) 17:02, 10 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I recommend you call the article "Frank Harrison (physician)" or some such just to avoid confusion. Then you should probably put a hatnote at the top of Frank Harrison giving a link to the physician article. Hope that helps. Happy Squirrel (talk) 17:07, 10 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

James D. Spaniolo moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, James D. Spaniolo, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please follow the prompts on the Articles for Creation template atop the page. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Frank Harrison.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Frank Harrison.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

ATTENTION: This is an automated, bot-generated message. This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 03:00, 14 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
