Please refrain from posting your opinions using all capital letters. It is rude, and makes useful collaboration difficult. ==Non-free rationale for File:Rosalindfranklinsjokecard.jpg==

Thanks for uploading or contributing to :File:Rosalindfranklinsjokecard.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.<!-- Template:You can request undeletion --> If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. ==Crick==
Hallo Martin- I reverted your (extensive) cut and pasted reviews because a) they were just blatant advertising; b) there is a potential copyright issue- it is not acceptable to simply cut and paste material from other sources. If you want to draw attention to what may be a new source for the article, then you would be best to include a SHORT paragraph explaining that a new text is available, and perhaps a link to a decent external review. An alternative would to simply read the book and add (with proper references) any useful information to the article proper, rather than the talk page. It's probably best NOT to link directly to Amazon unless really necessary however, as this is considered 'linkspam' by some (links to commercial websites are a bit of a no-no). Please bear in mind that the Francis Crick talk page is for discussing changes to that article- it is not a general bulletin board for discussing his life and work. All the best, Badgerpatrol 14:30, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

Hey, don't worry about your comments being too negative — not only are you entirely right, but I found the additional information that you provided to be very interesting. Keep up the good work ! Schutz 09:53, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi Martin,
Thank you! It's a real change to receive a bouquet, rather than a brickbat!! I am still on the trail of the 1958 chair of Genetics issue - as I believe in leaving no stone unturned. regards, Martin

Please see Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard#Talk:List of Bloomsbury Group people#The Bloomsbury Group
:As a piece of well-meant advice Martin- the brickbats might occur less frequently if it weren't for the fact that you implicitly or explicitly insult other contributors with almost every comment you make. Here are some of the IP's you've been using:
:I have uploaded the image about Fisher already, see article Ronald Fisher. I have the one for Sherrington as well, which I will upload soon. Unfortunately, when I was in Caius College, I did not have much time and took only the 4 photos of the windows celebrating Venn, Fisher, Crick and Sherrington, but did not manage to get the other two. I don't know of a place where these images would be available under a copyright licence free enough to allow us to upload them on Wikipedia.

Received; I will think about it! (Incidentally I am an experienced Wiki contributor, who prefers Wikipedia to the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography: seen John Naughton's article in "The Observer" 10.8.14)? Unfortunately dictatorial editors of Belgian/Canadian/Dutch extraction are wasting their own time arguing with me about Bloomsbury Group, Order of Merit, and the Cambridge Apostles. I DO enjoy comparing Wikipedia and ODNB in favour of the former! 2.30.198.91 (talk) 16:15, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
:I think I previously passed my comments on to you. From reading the first 25%, I did not feel that Ridley produced the kind of book that I enjoy. "Discoverer of the code" strikes me as the kind of book that is published in order to cash in on the death of a famous person. It strikes me as having been heavily edited in order to increase its "mass market appeal". I find it very hard to read such a book when it does not bother to cite its sources. Given its failure to cite sources, I doubt if it can fruitfully be used as a source for Wikipedia. On the more general issue of expanding the Wikipedia article on Crick in order to say more about his work on the code, I have no doubt that improvements could be made to that section of the article. However, doing so is not a high priority for me. There are many other topics that are of equal or gereater importance in biology that still have not found there way into Wikipedia. I'd rather work getting that information into Wikipedia than expand on and modify what seems to me an adequate section of the Crick article. --JWSchmidt 20:26, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

Amazon review
AN/I
<Sigh>. Fair enough "Martin", I shan't revert again for the moment, because there seems to be very little point on a sunny evening... Just out of interest, a) why have you posted the Amazon review, and what do you hope to achieve by cutting and pasting it to the Crick talk page?, and b) why is it impossible to link to the Amazon review externally? It's commendable if you're worried about linkspam, but this case is possibly acceptable, you can canvass the opinion of others on that. Anyway, for your consideration, here are a selection of potentially useful links for you- this one, regarding the proper use of talk pages (which shouldn't generally be used to post massive amounts of useless or near useless cut and pasted text, which may be considered a copyright violation and hence illegal), and these ones for general wiki protocol, which may be useful to you. Non-free rationale for File:Rosalindfranklinsjokecard.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Rosalindfranklinsjokecard.jpg.

If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 17:29, 16 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Is the proposed deletion of the "Rosalind Franklin Joke Card" your idea of a joke? Updated IP list with latest emanation [3]. @Callanecc: alas this isn't over yet, as you so optimistically surmised [4]. --Francis Schonken (talk) 07:43, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! There is a DR/N request you may have interest in.

[edit]

This message is being sent to let you know of a discussion at the Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard regarding a content dispute discussion you may have participated in. Content disputes can hold up article development and make editing difficult for editors. You are not required to participate, but you are both invited and encouraged to help find a resolution. The discussion is about the topic List of Bloomsbury Group people. Please join us to help form a consensus. Thank you! — TransporterMan (TALK) 15:28, 19 August 2014 (UTC) (DRN volunteer)[reply]

2.30.198.91 (talk) 16:15, 19 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

AN/I

I hereby inform you that you are mentioned in a discussion at AN/I: Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#Enough_is_enough. The Banner talk 20:48, 21 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

 • I have blocked this account indefinitely for longterm disruption and edit warring, under this account and dozens of IP addresses. This means also that those IP edits can be summarily reverted since they count as block evasion. That's a shame: you could have contributed, but you should have done so according to our guidelines. Now you cannot contribute at all--not until you agree to abide by our guidelines. Drmies (talk) 02:00, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
