The inline citation requests are there because article's on Wikipedia need inline citations for verifiability. I reverted your edit, and I'll do it again if the citation requests are removed. Right now the article reads like fancruft rubbish, and kisses Iron Maiden's ass all over the place. I'm a fan of the band, but this is an encyclopaedia, not a juvenile fansite. If you wish to quote info from a DVD then inline cite, but frankly I nor anyone else in the Wiki community would class a quote from a Maiden DVD as proof their first album was released to critical and commercial success - it contravenes NPOV. :I'd like to apologise if I was a little brisk above, though I hope you can understand my initial annoyance. As a fellow Iron Maiden fan, I guess we can both mutually agree that we wish to keep the article as an FA. [[User:LuciferMorgan|LuciferMorgan]] 17:13, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

===Please do not remove citation needed tags===
:Please refrain from moving cite tags from [[Iron Maiden]]. [[WP:V]] requires that a [[WP:RS|reliable source]] be added for any statement requrested by another editor, and several editors are attempting to correctly reference the article. It takes a lot of work to read through the article to determine what facts need to be cited, and your removal of those tags creates extra work for other editors. ==WikiProject Disambiguation Talk Request==
This is a form message being sent to all WikiProject Disambiguation participants. I may have found your page based on your contributions or your link repair user box on your user page. If you are not a member, please consider including your name on the project page. I recently left a [[Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Disambiguation#Adopting_Pages_and_Link_Repair_Banner|proposed banner idea on the WikiProject Disambiguation talk page]] and I would appreciate any input you could provide. Before it can be approved or denied, I would prefer a lot of feedback from multiple participants in the project. So if you have the time please join in the discussion to help improve the WikiProject. Keep up the good work in link repair and thanks for your time. [[User:Nehrams2020|Nehrams2020]] 23:15, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

== Nicko McBrain - your revert ==
The 'recent interview' I mentioned I will find proof of, I think its on the Matter of Life and Death page on Wikipedia. Its the one where some fan won the chance to talk to Janick and Nicko via some forum.

([[User:The Elfoid|The Elfoid]] 09:53, 10 October 2006 (UTC))

== Paul Di'Anno ==
I take your point on the EP/LP thing, but can would you approve my creating a seperate list that includes Metal for Muthers, Maiden Japan, Live +One and such? It is a discography, not a list of 'singles and albums' after all. ([[User:The Elfoid|The Elfoid]] 09:48, 17 October 2006 (UTC))

== Revert ==

The bit saying it's based on a book by Orson Card is utter bullshit, 110% fact as when you edit it says it's taken from the official bio - it ain't, I own the book and cannot find the quote. So it isn't "supposed", it's fact - if I keep repeating it maybe it'll actually sink in.

Feel free to re-insert more utter bullshit inaccuracies and make my effort harder to retain the article's FA status. [[User:LuciferMorgan|LuciferMorgan]] 11:26, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading '''[[:Image:Janickgers-ironmaiden.jpg]]'''. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under [[Wikipedia:Fair use|fair use]], but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our [[Wikipedia:Fair use criteria|first fair use criterion]] in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

# Go to [[:Image:Janickgers-ironmaiden.jpg|the image description page]] and edit it to add <code><nowiki>{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}</nowiki></code>, '''without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template'''.
# On [[Image talk:Janickgers-ironmaiden.jpg|the image discussion page]], write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, [[Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission|requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license]], or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on <span class="plainlinks">[{{fullurl:Special:Contributions|target={{PAGENAMEE}}&amp;namespace=6}} this link]</span>. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on [[Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#Images.2FMedia|criteria for speedy deletion]]. If you have any questions please ask them at the [[Wikipedia:Media copyright questions|Media copyright questions page]]. == Iron Maiden tour page? ==
I'm putting together all the information I would need to create this but
* I can't make tables and stuff on Wikipedia and get it right
* You seem to get involved in Maiden's wikipedia pages a lot so I thought I'd involve you from the start

I'll e-mail you the s tuff if you rekon we should make this ([[User:The Elfoid|The Elfoid]] 02:58, 8 April 2007 (UTC))

:World Slavery Tour has it's own page already - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Slavery_Tour

:I was thinking something like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aerosmith_concert_tours or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Michael_Jackson_tours

:I've made a table in MS Word, it lists tours with following headings tour (divides up legs into things like Fear of the Dark World Tour Part 2: A Real Live One)/dates (only got months, but we can be more detailed if necessary)/number of shows (not including cancelled ones)/regions visited (continents, unless it's a dedicated tour for a place like Japan)/promotion (album, new member, DVD etc)/live recordings of the gig (including stuff on DVD/VHS). Then I made a summary one which combines all the legs of tours, and only lists key ones (leaving out things like Clive Aid's 3 2002 gigs) with dates, number of shows and regions visited. Gimme an addres to e-mail it to.

==Orphaned fair use image (Image:Davemurray-ironmaiden.jpg)==
Thanks for uploading '''[[:Image:Davemurray-ironmaiden.jpg]]'''. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a [[WP:FU|claim of fair use]]. However, the image is currently [[WP:O|orphaned]], meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. [[WP:BOLD|You may add it back]] if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see [[Wikipedia:Fair use#Policy|our fair use policy]]).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "[[Special:Contributions/{{PAGENAME}}|my contributions]]" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any '''articles''' will be deleted after seven days, as described on [[wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#Images.2FMedia|criteria for speedy deletion]]. [[Image:Nuvola apps important.svg|32px|left]]
Thanks for uploading '''[[:Image:Numbersfromthebeast-ironmaiden.jpg]]'''. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at [[Wikipedia:Non-free content]] carefully, then go to [[:Image:Numbersfromthebeast-ironmaiden.jpg|the image description page]] and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at [[Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline]] is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our [[WP:CSD#Images/media|Criteria for speedy deletion]]. == Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference ==

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse ([[Help_talk:Minor_edit#Should_we_remove_the_Preference_setting_to_.22Mark_all_edits_minor_by_default.22_.3F|consensus discussion]]). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was <code>true</code>. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to <code>false</code> in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is '''[[Wikipedia:Village_pump_(technical)/Archive_78#Preference_to_mark_all_edits_minor_by_default_asked_to_be_removed_in_bugzilla:24313|a workaround available]]''' involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by [[WP:MINOR]]). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of [[User:Jarry1250]], [[User:LivingBot|LivingBot]] ([[User talk:LivingBot|talk]]) 19:25, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Welcome

[edit]

Hello Prodigenous Zee, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your all your great contributions! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please continue to sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~), which automatically produces your name and the current time and date. You can also create your own user page, which is the page that others see when they follow the link in your signature. Your user page is User:Prodigenous Zee. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or feel free to ask me on my talk page. And if you need help, just put {{helpme}} on your user talk page. Again, welcome! --TantalumTelluride 04:24, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How did you manage to make over 100 edits before receiving a welcome message? You must be a stealthy contributor! Keep up the good work! --TantalumTelluride 04:28, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hehe, well straight after making my account I started to edit stuff. It kinda got addicting so I just went on. Thanks. :D - Zee 08:00, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

a quick tip

[edit]

The IP that POV'd the Iron Maiden article is probably blocked user Leyasu. WP:HMM is a noble project but certain users believe the project's mandates supercede Wiki-policy...especially WP:CITE. I notice their genre swapping all the time. Of course IM is a NWoBHM band. Saxon, Angelwitch, Motorhead and <yick> Def Leppard...all NWoBHM bands. Your wiki-contributions have all been good. Eventually the POV pushers will just go away. Keep up the good work. 216.21.150.44 01:21, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, thanks a lot man! Zee 01:35, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Iron Maiden.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Iron Maiden.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 17:08, 25 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, but I didn't upload that picture. I only reverted it to it's original picture. — Prodigenous Zee - 00:40, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello, I guess you 're new to Wikipedia. Don't go on reverting unless there is a reason. If you have any problem discuss it in tha talk page. Don't act hastily. Remember, Wikipedia is a public domain, thus a democracy. Your whims won't work here. So, from next time be responsible.

live albums from Maiden

[edit]

you reverted my "six live albums" back to nine in the Iron Maiden article. Please elaborate on how you come to 9: 1. Live After Death 2. A Real LIve One 3. A Real Dead One 4. Live at Donington 5. Rock In Rio 6. Death on the Road

Maiden England is not a normal live album. it was only released on video and in very limited supply as video with cd. Maiden Japan is an EP, just as the "live +1" release. Beast Over Hammersmith and LIve at the BBC are only available in a very limited (and expensive) boxset, and are not available outside of that. A Real Live Dead One is a combination of A Real LIve One and A Real Dead One, now on 1 double-cd instead of 2 separate cds.

Spaces before headings

[edit]

Something tells me you MUST have something better to do than comment on spaces before headings. There's so many more important things to worry about in life. I find it much easier to read, and thousands of Wiki pages are set up exactly the same way.

tourtitles in italic

[edit]

Please stop reverting the italics in the tour titles of Iron Maiden tours. Read Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style chapter 1 Disputes over style issues ("when either of two styles is acceptable, it is inappropriate for a Wikipedia editor to change from one style to another unless there is some substantial reason for the change") and chapter 5.1 Italics: titles. It's a title, put it in Italics. For some reason songtitles are put between quotes, but put other titles in italics.

Adrian Smith's legato?

[edit]

As I'm sure you are aware, one of the pillars of Maiden's success has been the very different guitar styles of Adrian Smith and Dave Murray. I contend that it is Murray who has the smooth, fast legato, while Smith is tighter and more restrained. Evidence of Smith's capability with regard to 'shredding' can be heard in the final phrase of his solo from 'Hallowed Be Thy Name' from 'Live After Death' and in the solo from 'Wasted Years'. Loved your article but be prepared to be corrected on points of music theory. Legato means 'smooth and flowing', surely adjectives better applied to Murray's style than Smith's.--Bren264 09:18, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think the song is notable, but you are probably in a better position to expand it than I am, since you know a lot about Iron Maiden. I'm not going to expand it, but I would be grateful if you would. --TruthbringerToronto (Talk | contribs) 04:44, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Paul Di'Anno Maiden albums

[edit]

Wouldn't adding EP after the Maiden Japan entry be more complete, rather than just leaving Maiden Japan out? After all, the Soundhouse Tapes are listed as an EP. --Litpho 09:27, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You seem to do alot of non-minor editing marked as minor

[edit]

copied from Wikipedia:How to edit a page

Minor edits See also Wikipedia:Minor edit

When editing an article page on this site, a logged-in user can mark that edit as being "minor". Minor edits generally mean spelling corrections, formatting, and minor rearrangement of text. It is possible to "hide" minor edits when viewing the recent changes. Marking a significant change as a minor edit is considered bad behavior, especially when it involves the deletion of some text. If you accidentally mark an edit as minor, you should edit the source once more, mark it major (or, rather, ensure that the check-box for "This is a minor edit" is not checked), and, in the summary, state that the previous change was a major one.-Crunchy Numbers 14:00, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Preview Button

[edit]

I actually do use the preview button, but alas I'm human. In fact, I've been editing the Iron Maiden article and adding inline citations, because if nobody else can be bothered it'll lose its FA star. It's currently under Featured Article Review, and if the concerns aren't addressed by 4 weeks from now then Iron Maiden is FA no more. LuciferMorgan 09:21, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Inline Citations

[edit]

LuciferMorgan 16:57, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to apologise if I was a little brisk above, though I hope you can understand my initial annoyance. As a fellow Iron Maiden fan, I guess we can both mutually agree that we wish to keep the article as an FA. LuciferMorgan 17:13, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove citation needed tags

[edit]
Please refrain from moving cite tags from Iron Maiden. WP:V requires that a reliable source be added for any statement requrested by another editor, and several editors are attempting to correctly reference the article. It takes a lot of work to read through the article to determine what facts need to be cited, and your removal of those tags creates extra work for other editors. Nicko McBrain - your revert

[edit]

The 'recent interview' I mentioned I will find proof of, I think its on the Matter of Life and Death page on Wikipedia. Its the one where some fan won the chance to talk to Janick and Nicko via some forum.

Paul Di'Anno

[edit]

I take your point on the EP/LP thing, but can would you approve my creating a seperate list that includes Metal for Muthers, Maiden Japan, Live +One and such? It is a discography, not a list of 'singles and albums' after all. (The Elfoid 09:48, 17 October 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Revert

[edit]

The bit saying it's based on a book by Orson Card is utter bullshit, 110% fact as when you edit it says it's taken from the official bio - it ain't, I own the book and cannot find the quote. So it isn't "supposed", it's fact - if I keep repeating it maybe it'll actually sink in.

Feel free to re-insert more utter bullshit inaccuracies and make my effort harder to retain the article's FA status. LuciferMorgan 11:26, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Janickgers-ironmaiden.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Janickgers-ironmaiden.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Lhademmor 19:54, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Iron Maiden tour page?

World Slavery Tour has it's own page already - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Slavery_Tour
I was thinking something like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aerosmith_concert_tours or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Michael_Jackson_tours
I've made a table in MS Word, it lists tours with following headings tour (divides up legs into things like Fear of the Dark World Tour Part 2: A Real Live One)/dates (only got months, but we can be more detailed if necessary)/number of shows (not including cancelled ones)/regions visited (continents, unless it's a dedicated tour for a place like Japan)/promotion (album, new member, DVD etc)/live recordings of the gig (including stuff on DVD/VHS). Then I made a summary one which combines all the legs of tours, and only lists key ones (leaving out things like Clive Aid's 3 2002 gigs) with dates, number of shows and regions visited. Gimme an addres to e-mail it to.

Fair use disputed for Image:Numbersfromthebeast-ironmaiden.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Numbersfromthebeast-ironmaiden.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 02:35, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:25, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
