I have searched for that book on online academic libraries, Barnes & Noble, Amazon and other online book sellers, without any luck. I have also researched for the ISBN number and nothing comes up. The book doesn't seem to exist. There's no record of it. |

Disambiguation link notification
[edit]Hi. When you recently edited Robin Driscoll, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Dear John (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

A Ghost Story for Christmas
[edit]QUOTE: ‘Hello, please be careful not to change 'British' to 'English' on BBC television series articles. Although it is true to a greater extent that programmes are often wholly English productions, to state this is incorrect as the productions which you have changed are mostly made by the *British* Broadcasting Corporation. The only exceptions would probably be explicitly regional productions, and even then "British" is less ambigious.’ Bob talk 21:01, 3 March 2012 (UTC)'
The only interpretation I can think of here, ‘Bob’, is that what comes out of Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland can be Scottish, Welsh or Irish but what comes out of England must always be ‘British’, the even more obvious answer to which is unprintable.
I'm puzzled by how you define correctness if one is acceptable and the other not 'Bob'? Is the corporation’s name really the deciding factor when it spends so much (mainly English) money promoting Scottish and Welsh identities? And why is M R James ‘English’ given that almost everyone else associated with the programmes is 'British'?
Accuracy is never ambiguous ‘Bob’. That’s the point of it. ‘British’ is a synonym for all four home nations or none, but since you wouldn’t dream of portraying Scotland’s contribution to daily life in these islands as anything other than Scottish, only one conclusion seems possible.
The anonymity and exclusion you fear on others' behalf but seem to think an Englishman's due merely reveal the viciousness and dissimulation masquerading as integrity here on Wikipedia and at the heart of the corporation. Your position is political, 'Bob', and nothing to do with reason, and since I’m not very interested in anything else you have to say I'm afraid I shan’t be back to catch any response. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.17.75.238 (talk) 14:06, 4 March 2012 (UTC)

Need Information on a Survival TV Series Reference
[edit]Hi Bob, I'm looking at the wikipedia article on the "Survival TV Series". The article includes a printed reference that I would like to use for an academic research paper given that it apparently has a lot of information about the series. But, I can't find it anywhere. I have searched all over without luck. Please let me know where I can find the following:
Walshe, Tom; Bevan, Colin; Phillipson, Naomi; Sealy, Ruth (1999). A Knight on the Box. Anglia Televison. ISBN 0-906-83640-9.
I have searched for that book on online academic libraries, Barnes & Noble, Amazon and other online book sellers, without any luck. I have also researched for the ISBN number and nothing comes up. The book doesn't seem to exist. There's no record of it.
Please help.
Thanks, Jilaboy (talk) 02:16, 11 March 2012 (UTC)
- Hello, it definitely exists - its ISBN number is [1]. In fact, there appears to be a very cheap copy available on Amazon right now: [2]. Hope that's some help, good luck with your research. Bob talk 09:57, 11 March 2012 (UTC)

Blackadder - NICAM
[edit]There's a very good citation for my information - listening to the soundtrack of the episodes.
After all, there's no citation needed for the information box on the series webpage for channel, picture format, colour/B&W etc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.205.19.241 (talk) 23:56, 20 March 2012 (UTC)
Blackadder - NICAM 2
[edit]No, you see the way the BBC organised their introduction of NICAM was a slow trickle of content at first until late 1990/through 1991, when they really began to get their arse in gear regarding stereo sound. I was there at BBC Engineering at the time, I remember being upset that ITV launched stereo sound 2 years before us using "our" invention. Even big-budget series such as House of Cards, broadcast in the weeks when Mrs Thatcher resigned, didn't even get stereo sound. Not to add until summer 1990, there were just two transmitters transmitting NICAM sound- Crystal Palace & Emley Moor in Yorkshire.
Here is a link to a decent archived website about those early days of NICAM. Unfortunately, the examples of weekly documents of NICAM programmes are no longer available. I wish I'd saved them as jpegs.

posters
[edit]Posters don't have to come from impawards. Impawards has lots of dodgy scans and such. A clear digital image -- representative of the original poster -- is prefered to some fuzzy scan. Film Fan (talk) 10:07, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
Tiersen, Jeunet, and Amélie
[edit]
Hi!
The interview with Jean-Pierre Jeunet states that:
Yann Tiersen composed the music . . .
I had something else in mind and then one day a production assistant drove me somewhere and put on a CD I didn't know, which I found absolutely superb. It was a piece by Yann Tiersen. By that evening, I owned all his records! I met him and right away, we got along very well. Over the course of two weeks, he composed nineteen pieces for us! In addition to that, he allowed us to take anything we wanted from his other records. The hard part was making a selection, because all his tracks worked with the film's images!
"I owned all his records" means to me that he purchased all of Tiersen's albums: La Valse des monstres (1995), Rue des cascades (1996), and Le Phare (1998), but at least at that point, he did not purchase the rights to Tiersen's records as evidenced in the following sentence: "In addition to that, he allowed us to take anything we wanted from his other records."
All the best & happy editing! –pjoef (talk • contribs) 08:46, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

Blackadder reference
[edit]Hi there, this may be a rather obscure request, but I noticed you added a reference to Stephen Badsey's "The Great War Since The Great War" to Blackadder Goes Forth back in 2010.
I'm currently working on "Goodbyeee", the article of the final episode in the series, and I think that the source may help with its expansion. Unfortunately, I am unable to obtain the journal, and I was wondering if you had a copy. I am unsure exactly how much is written about Blackadder, but I think it would be wise to read it to make sure the citation supports my text.
