:*I've noticed that too. I think it's because the article is too long. I think the <nowiki>{{coord}}</nowiki> template stops functioning properly after the 150th use in one article, and for some reason, only one of the two templates appears at the bottom of the article. I don't want to have to remove any of the information in the article. I have contemplated splitting the article into several articles based on their location, but I'm indecisive as to how to split the article. The islands outside the Great Lakes can possibly be merged into those articles. I'll have to add the restructuring of this article onto my to-do list. Also, thanks for reinserting one of my images back into the [[Elizabeth Park (Michigan)|Elizabeth Park]] article. You recently went through and made some chances (some of which are grammatically incorrect), and I haven't had a change to go back to the article yet and retouch it up. — |

Btw, if you know of a better place than this where I can get information about Michigan sites, it would be nice of you to point it out haha. Currently I can only copy/paste 10 listings at a time, and the formatting is horrible, so I imagine this list will take an extended amount of time to complete. Any help would be appreciated, though. :Unfortunately, the site you listed above is the only viable source for information on Michigan Historic Sites, in which approximately half of those listings are also listed on the National Register. I don't particularly like the site's structure (and yes, I feel it is outdated and somewhat vacant), but it is a bank of semi-useful knowledge on many of the historic sites. A few months back when I started inserting the blue "Michigan State Historic Site" bar into the NRHP infobox, I followed the pattern of another state that has its own similar state database (I think California or Maryland, I can't remember), in which the NRHP infobox was supportive of this added criteria. When I first started inserting the "MSHS" bar, I foresaw this problem should the NRHP infobox ever be changed. I originally wanted to create a separate "infobox" for Michigan State Historic Sites and have it be able to be merged into preexisting infoboxes, such as the lighthouse or NRHP infobox, but I lament that I took an easier route that might need to be changed. I was actually going to create an article along the lines of "List of Michigan State Historic Sites" and include all the sites listed on that website (many of which are not article worthy anyway), and that could open the door for countless more articles in the subject. That might be a project for my unemployed 2011 summer. But, thids past summer was burned out making the [[List of islands of Michigan]] article (and the subsequent splitting of the article) that took away more nights of sleep than I'd like to admit. My later summer was burned out making the [[National Register of Historic Places listings in Lenawee County, Michigan]] article, which used a lot of gas to take those pictures. It was then I realized that Michigan's NRHP articles are maintained and created by such a small number of users, in which I was overwhelmed but not deterred by the amount of work at hand. Plus, I get sidetracked easily and felt like I was involved in too many side-projects (such as [[Shutout (baseball)]]). While I headed the inclusion of the MSHS bar for further recognition for the state of Michigan's history (as well as providing a noteworthy inclusion to articles that are MSHS but not NRHP listings, such as [[Woodland Cemetery (Monroe, Michigan)|Woodland Cemetery]]), according to the my created [[:Category:Michigan State Historic Sites]], there are approximately 223 articles that this has so far affected (many of Michigan's NRHP listings articles have not been created or properly organized yet). I categorized and altered the infobox in maybe 100 or so of those articles before a few other users joined in. Therefore, I believe, the easiest solution would be to remove the MSHS bar from the NRHP infobox in those articles (while leaving them in the above category). I don't see much of a quick fix to this issue, but it is a correctable issue. In my almost six years on Wikipedia, I have no clue how to make or even edit an infobox's syntax. It's something I've never done. So, unfortunately, I have NO clue as to how changes in the NRHP infobox or anything relating to that will affect what myself and a few other users have done. But, if there is a simple solution to the problem that I'm overlooking in my lack of infobox knowledge, then please let me know. If [[WP:HSITES]] (to which I am not involved) has a solution to this issue, please let me know. I haven't been too active on Wikipedia in the past few months since I moved and work a lot now (as well as living in a cave without internet for some time), but I'm not the kind of person to abandon my "work" and not further assist when needed. — |

::Well, I mean the infobox can be changed to allow these michigan sites to be supported without tripping an error category, but that error category catches other misuse of the infobox, so it would be better not to change the code of the infobox. (I'm actually the person that created and maintains the infobox haha, so no worries about template syntax; anything we need done I can do.) |

List of islands of Michigan
It appears that the large number of templates on this page is causing problems (Wikipedia:Help_desk#Template_trouble). I don't know how to get around this but perhaps Wikipedia:WikiProject Geographical coordinates could give some advice. Rmhermen (talk) 18:33, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:TurtleIslandLakeErie.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:TurtleIslandLakeErie.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. dave pape (talk) 03:00, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

Tagging number articles
Was just wondering if you could explain why you have recently tagged almost every number article from 2 (number) to 200 (number) with {{template:examplefarm}} ? If you have concerns about the contents of these articles, I think it would be much more helpful and productive if you discussed those concerns at the WikiProject Mathematics talk page. I have started a discussion here. Gandalf61 (talk) 11:11, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
Blanco Co Tx tagging of Timeline list
The chronological timeline style is deliberate for visual ease and clarification to facilitate anyone using Wikipedia as a research tool. It's an acceptable style for relating chronological events as clearly as possible. Maile66 (talk) 01:36, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
You recently added the {{WikiProject Michigan}} banner to this article, assessing it as "start-class". If you did not actually assess the article, and just based that on the other project banner assessment, I wonder if you could reassess it; the article has gone through a major improvement since that assessment. If you did assess it and concluded that start-class is the appropriate assessment, could you add some comments to the article talk page explaining what you feel is needed for the article to advance? Thanks, cmadler (talk) 11:04, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
File copyright problem with File:DelrayDetroitMI.jpg
Thank you for uploading File:DelrayDetroitMI.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 18:19, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
File source problem with File:Arch McCarthy.jpg
Thank you for uploading File:Arch McCarthy.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 14:22, 16 May 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 14:22, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for uploading this media,
However, it would be nice if you could give some kind of indication as to what license the media is under. That way other people can be confident in making use of it for many varied purposes :)
Adding license information also helps prevent media you've put effort into creating from being deleted :)
You may wish to read Wikipedia:Image_copyright_tags#For_image_creators which will assist you :)

Michigan NRHP corrections
I replied to your comment/question at the WikiProject NRHP talk page (shortcut wt:NRHP). I'm glad you're on board and are in a position to note many location issues with NRHP's NRIS data. Would you please check out wp:NRIS info issues MI, which is a subpage of Wikipedia:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places/NRIS information issues. In that system of workpages i and other NRHP editors have accumulated possible errors that we have noticed, for submission in batches to the National Register. The system allows us to proceed with making corrections in wikipedia articles, going contrary to the NRIS data, while ensuring the NRIS data will get fixed. This probably heads off a lot of future headaches as other well-meaning editors would correct the Wikipedia info back to the NRIS incorrect info (which is also echoed at private website copies such as http://nationalregisterofhistoricplaces.com. I hope you'll please make submissions into this system. Again, glad u'r on board! --doncram (talk) 17:26, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

Jefferson Avenue-Huron River and Harbin Drive-Silver Creek Canal Bridges
Not a problem--my goal is really to have an article on all of the Wayne County NRHP sites, and I don't really care if someone else writes the article or if I have to do it. The "starter article" in my sandbox was a placeholder with an infobox and one descriptive sentence cribbed from the infobox data, which I spent like three minutes creating. (And, really, stuff in my sandbox shouldn't stop other people from creating articles.) In any case, bridges don't really excite me, so I'm more than happy to have someone else do the grunt labor of creating the article. So thanks. :) Andrew Jameson (talk) 11:51, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

dual coordinates
Hi there. I noticed you are updating nrhp infoboxes (I noticed it for lighthouses) and in the process sometimes marking the lighthouse coordinates as inline, leaving the nrhp coordinates in the title. Is this the preferred way? I don't know about the ones you marked, but when I add a lighthouse I sometimes geolocate it very accurately, so are the nrhp coordinates always better? A tag has been placed on File:DetroitRiverLocation.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. --Addihockey10e-mail 19:39, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
Michigan State Historic Sites
Hi, Notorious4life, I have recently finished emptying out Category:NRHP infobox needing cleanup and have noticed that you (and others) have added a few NRHP infoboxes to Michigan State Historic Site articles. Use of the NRHP infobox is limited to sites that are actually on the National Register, but I see you're in kind of a conundrum here as there is nowhere else really to turn. {{Infobox Historic Site}} doesn't support Michigan sites yet because the register doesn't pass through its requirements, but I've begun trying to remedy the situation (because of OCD and wanting to empty that category haha). I've begun a small list at User:Dudemanfellabra/Sandbox of the first 20 sites listed at the MSHDA database (which is wayyyy too clunky and needs an update IMO, but I digress). I was wondering if you'd like to help out with finishing the list and moving it into mainspace. Once this list is in place, I'm pretty sure the folks over at WP:HSITES (of which I am a member) will be fine with adding support for the Michigan register.
Thanks!--Dudemanfellabra (talk) 19:55, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, the site you listed above is the only viable source for information on Michigan Historic Sites, in which approximately half of those listings are also listed on the National Register. But, thids past summer was burned out making the List of islands of Michigan article (and the subsequent splitting of the article) that took away more nights of sleep than I'd like to admit. My later summer was burned out making the National Register of Historic Places listings in Lenawee County, Michigan article, which used a lot of gas to take those pictures. It was then I realized that Michigan's NRHP articles are maintained and created by such a small number of users, in which I was overwhelmed but not deterred by the amount of work at hand. Plus, I get sidetracked easily and felt like I was involved in too many side-projects (such as Shutout (baseball)). While I headed the inclusion of the MSHS bar for further recognition for the state of Michigan's history (as well as providing a noteworthy inclusion to articles that are MSHS but not NRHP listings, such as Woodland Cemetery), according to the my created Category:Michigan State Historic Sites, there are approximately 223 articles that this has so far affected (many of Michigan's NRHP listings articles have not been created or properly organized yet). If WP:HSITES (to which I am not involved) has a solution to this issue, please let me know. I haven't been too active on Wikipedia in the past few months since I moved and work a lot now (as well as living in a cave without internet for some time), but I'm not the kind of person to abandon my "work" and not further assist when needed. — ♣№tǒŖïøŭş4lĭfė♫♪ 09:37, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
- Well, I mean the infobox can be changed to allow these michigan sites to be supported without tripping an error category, but that error category catches other misuse of the infobox, so it would be better not to change the code of the infobox. (I'm actually the person that created and maintains the infobox haha, so no worries about template syntax; anything we need done I can do.)
- Also, I don't think it's necessary or even desirable to remove the MSHS bar from these articles. There is a possibility that WP:HSITES will add support to their infobox for Michigan sites, but usually their requirements (to which I linked above) dictate that there must be a list on Wikipedia – or at least a decent article with a few examples on it – about the register. I've worked with several editors creating lists such as the List of National Monuments in Ireland and the List of Pittsburgh Landmarks (the latter is now a redirect from splitting it up) to allow them to be added to the HSITES infobox, so that was kind of my plan here. If we get this "List of Michigan State Historic Sites" started, the addition process at WP:HSITES will be easy-going, and you can use {{Infobox Historic Site}} with a Michigan bar to mark articles that are listed on the state register and not on the NRHP.
- If you feel like you're too busy to help out with the list in my userspace, though, that's fine; I'll keep chugging along. Since I wrote that first comment, I've made the formatting of the list better and have expanded it a bit. There are only 30 on the list at present, but now that I have kind of a system going, it should be easy to rapidly expand. Thanks!--Dudemanfellabra (talk) 17:06, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with File:BedfordPSLogoMI.png
Thanks for uploading File:BedfordPSLogoMI.png. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Categories
Just a quick note, but if you're adding an article to a "X of Y County, Michigan" category, it shouldn't be added to the "Y County, Michigan" category as well. The categories by type/subject are subcategories of the county category, and you shouldn't have both on the same article; always use the most specific category in the tree only. The vast majority of my contributions come during the summer months when I don't work as much, so we'll see what this summer brings for me to do in my free time (boredom). Non-free rationale for File:MKSM5.JPG
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:MKSM5.JPG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. File permission problem with File:Columbiaville Depot.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Columbiaville Depot.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-enwikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. - Looks like quite a fun list. I have a few of these pictures already, such as the schools in Lincoln Park. I'm wondering what's so "International" about River Rouge's high school? As soon as the weather isn't so gloomy, I'll head out and see what I can get. I don't ever go to Romulus, so I might put that city on the bottom on the list. 02:26, 23 November 2011 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Brightmoor Detroit map.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Brightmoor Detroit map.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
Marquette Park photo
This panorama you made is truly remarkable. I recommend nominating it for featured picture on Commons or here on Wikipedia. Jsayre64 (talk) 03:24, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
Boyton/Oakwood
Thanks for adding this page, though, I'd have broken them up into seperate pages since the two neighborhoods are nothing alike and physically seperated. Why I'm writing, though, is that I don't get why in the demographics section, you use race/ethnicity data from the 2009 American Community Survey (I assume) when the 2010 Census demographic data is out. Is it that they haven't broken it down by zip-code? Even so, you can do it by block and block group. --Criticalthinker (talk) 10:14, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
File source problem with File:DetroitRivercropped.jpg
Thank you for uploading File:DetroitRivercropped.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.
If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Bulwersator (talk) 08:25, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

Monroe and River Raisen Paper Company
As a young boy from Chicago, I got to visit my Uncle Roy and Aunt Ann who lived in Michigan. My first memories are of Eaton Rapids. Roy was sawing a tree in his yard and I would go too a local park there. They moved to Monroe and Roy worked at the River Raisen Paper Mill. We watched the big ships sailing across the center lane on Lake Erie in a house he rented on the water. They moved to Grand Rapids so I got to see them there. I visited the capitol in Lansing, Michigan too. By the way, I live in Lansing, Illinois. Thanks for the pictures. It is sad to see the pics of the broken down River Raisen Paper Mill, as I remember it in it's heydays in 1950's. Time changes everything. Replaceable fair use File:RichRowland1994ToppsPicture.png
Thanks for uploading File:RichRowland1994ToppsPicture.png. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. VernoWhitney (talk) 15:28, 3 December 2012 (UTC)
