| Thank you for your recent articles, including [[John Sobieski (U.S. Colonel)]], which I read with interest. When you create a new article, can you add the WikiProject [[Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Assessment|assessment]] templates to the talk of that article? See the talk page of the article I mentioned for an example of what I mean. Usually it is very simple, you just add something like <nowiki>{{WikiProject Keyword}}</nowiki> to the article's talk, with keyword replaced by the associated WikiProject (ex. if it's a biography article, you would use WikiProject Biography; if it's a United States article, you would use WikiProject United States, and so on). You do not have to rate the article if you do not want to, others will do it eventually. Those templates are very useful, as they bring the articles to a WikiProject attention, and allow them to start tracking the articles through [[Wikipedia:Article alerts]] and other tools. This can help you too, as the WikiProject members will often defend your work from deletion and try to improve it further. Feel free to ask me any questions if you'd like more information. [[User:Piotrus|Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus]]&#124;[[User talk:Piotrus|<font style="color:#7CFC00;background:#006400;"> reply here</font>]] 15:16, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

==WikiProject assessment tags for talk pages==
Thank you for your recent articles, including [[Robb Topolski]], which I read with interest. For example, WikiProject Poland relies on such templates to generate listings such as [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Poland/Article alerts|Article Alerts]], [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Poland/Popular pages|Popular Pages]], [[Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Poland-related articles by quality statistics|Quality and Importance Matrix]] and the [https://tools.wmflabs.org/bambots/cwb/bycat/Poland.html Cleanup Listing]. Thanks to them, WikiProject members are more easily able to defend your work from deletion, or simply help try to improve it further. Feel free to ask me any questions if you'd like more information about using those talk page templates. [[User:Piotrus|Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus]]&#124;[[User talk:Piotrus|<font style="color:#7CFC00;background:#006400;"> reply here</font>]] 03:08, 14 April 2015 (UTC)

Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Pola.mola, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 00:47, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Poster 2.JPG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that your page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Image tagging for File:Poles are incensed.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Poles are incensed.jpg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from or who created it. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

To add this information, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the information to the image's description. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 07:05, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited History of the Poles in the United States, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages IWW, Nativism and Ed Hall (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Files missing description details

[edit]
Dear uploader: The media files you uploaded as:

are missing a description and/or other details on their image description pages. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors make better use of the images, and they will be more informative to readers.

If the information is not provided, the images may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.

If you have any questions, please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Theo's Little Bot (error?) 01:24, 13 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your recent articles, including Jamestown Polish craftsmen, which I read with interest. When you create an extensive and well referenced article, you may want to have it featured on Wikipedia's main page in the Did You Know section. Articles included there will be read by thousands of our viewers. To do so, add your article to the list at T:TDYK. Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to History of the Poles in the United States may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry, just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

The article Ben Adamowski has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. PinkBull 18:58, 14 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The article Polish American Contractors Builders Association has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This unreferenced stub does not make any claim of notability. Wikipedia is not Yellow Pages.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. You may want to request userfication of those entries so your work is not wasted, and once you find better sources, you could return to improve them. There are thousands of valid Polish-American topics to create/expand, but it's worth checking WP:NOT to see what cannot be included in Wikipedia (encyclopedias are not yellow pages, etc.). Featuring your work on Wikipedia's front page: DYKs

[edit]
Thank you for your recent articles, including John Sobieski (U.S. Colonel), which I read with interest. When you create an extensive and well referenced article, you may want to have it featured on Wikipedia's main page in the Did You Know section. Articles included there will be read by thousands of our viewers. To do so, add your article to the list at T:TDYK. WikiProject assessment tags for talk pages

[edit]
Thank you for your recent articles, including John Sobieski (U.S. Colonel), which I read with interest. When you create a new article, can you add the WikiProject assessment templates to the talk of that article? See the talk page of the article I mentioned for an example of what I mean. Usually it is very simple, you just add something like {{WikiProject Keyword}} to the article's talk, with keyword replaced by the associated WikiProject (ex. if it's a biography article, you would use WikiProject Biography; if it's a United States article, you would use WikiProject United States, and so on). You do not have to rate the article if you do not want to, others will do it eventually. Those templates are very useful, as they bring the articles to a WikiProject attention, and allow them to start tracking the articles through Wikipedia:Article alerts and other tools. This can help you too, as the WikiProject members will often defend your work from deletion and try to improve it further. Feel free to ask me any questions if you'd like more information. Category

[edit]

Hello. Please stop adding the category American people of Polish descent to pages that already have the subcategory National Polish-American Sports Hall of Fame inductees. Thank you.Hoops gza (talk) 03:31, 23 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Also, anyone in any of the American Sportspeople of Polish descent categories (example - Category:American basketball players of Polish descent) are already in this category and do not need he parent category added. Rikster2 (talk) 02:21, 24 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The National Polish American Sports Hall of Fame inductees includes Canadians. It is by no means a direct or closely related category to Americans of Polish descent. The Americans of Polish descent category is immutable - Polish ethnic background is genetic and cannot be taken back, which is something that can't be said about an NFL championship or inductee, for instance. In some pages such as Mike Ditka, it is inconsistent and confusing to leave only the category about his Ukrainian roots while leaving the Hall of Fame category to identify his Polish roots. Other exceptions could include a non-ethnic Pole who emigrated from Poland to the United States. Could that person make the Polish American Hall of Fame? Yes, if inducted by the hall. Would that person be a person of Polish descent? No.Pola.mola (talk) 02:43, 24 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

My point still stands about those in the American Sportspeople of Polish descent categories. Please do not also add "Americans of Polish descent" to those articles. Thanks Rikster2 (talk) 02:48, 24 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Why can't they have both?Pola.mola (talk) 03:15, 24 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
What purpose? Every "American basketball player of Polish descent" is by definition an "American person of Polish decent." The categories are already in that parent category. Wikipedia guidelines (see WP:SUBCAT) are "A page or category should rarely be placed in both a category and a subcategory or parent category." What is the compelling reason that this case should be an exception? Rikster2 (talk) 12:04, 24 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Pola.mola, you have created a lot of extra work.Hoops gza (talk) 16:43, 24 August 2013 (UTC) Mike Ditka is already in the subcategory Category:American players of American football of Polish descent. Please stop adding these categories to pages.Hoops gza (talk) 16:53, 24 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:George HW in Hamtramck.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:George HW in Hamtramck.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Werieth (talk) 01:44, 9 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:The John Gawlik House.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:The John Gawlik House.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 01:31, 16 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Edward Pinkowski requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Dr. Cukrowicz requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

WikiProject assessment tags for talk pages

[edit]

Thank you for your recent articles, including Robb Topolski, which I read with interest. For example, WikiProject Poland relies on such templates to generate listings such as Article Alerts, Popular Pages, Quality and Importance Matrix and the Cleanup Listing. Thanks to them, WikiProject members are more easily able to defend your work from deletion, or simply help try to improve it further. Feel free to ask me any questions if you'd like more information about using those talk page templates. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:08, 14 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

There is no such article. I'd suggest starting one at pl:Historia Polonii w Stanach Zjednoczonych. There is a bit of content at pl:Polonia_w_Stanach_Zjednoczonych#Historia you can expand, and you should link your article from it when you start it. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:28, 16 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I hope this way round someone who is insterested in translation and equipped with the necessary time can be found more easily. --Ben4Wiki (talk) 14:31, 24 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
As User:Piotrus has already stated there is no specific article describing the history on the Polish Wikipedia (equivalent to History of the Poles in the United States) so far. There is only the general one (pl:Polonia_w_Stanach_Zjednoczonych). By the way, I fully support User:Piotrus's suggestion for the title of the missing article. --Ben4Wiki (talk) 19:52, 8 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Ben4Wiki: I noticed the comment at pl:Dyskusja:Polonia_w_Stanach_Zjednoczonych#Historia_Poloniii_w_Stanach_Zjednoczonych. Unfortunately, Polish Wikipedia being even smaller then English has only few hundred active volunteers, and I doubt people will see that comment there. You could try to bring it to the attention of some active Polish editors, but the only one I can think of that likes to create such content is User:Halibutt. I'd suggest that if anyone is interested in this, they should start the article. Saying others should do it is, sadly, unlikely to lead to any real change. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:08, 9 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of List of Polish-American Medal of Honor recipients, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.bing.com/knows/List%20of%20Medal%20of%20Honor%20recipients%20for%20the%20Vietnam%20War?mkt=zh-cn.

It is possible that the bot was mistaken and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

File permission problem with File:Susan Bysiewicz APAC 2014.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Susan Bysiewicz APAC 2014.JPG. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
