Certainly; take all the time you want. The only other page I can think of that you might want to look at is [[Wikipedia:Administrators' reading list]]. However, don't get too overwhelmed by that. Most admins focus on a smaller area of Wikipedia - even though admins have a full set of functions, they are certainly not obligated to use them all. On the other hand, if you don't think you would use ''any'' of the admin functions, you should just stick with being a regular user. Hope this helps! -[[User:SCEhardt|< |

I assume you are talking about the Catherina Asaro photo? Basically, "Permission obtained from author Catherine Asaro to post '''on Wikipedia only'''." means that per http://mail.wikipedia.org/pipermail/wikien-l/2005-May/023760.html , it's not okay. It's not a problem of permission from the author (Asaro herself?). This is great that you did get permission, Wikipedia just likes free licenses, not "Wikipedia only", not "non-commercial use only". I think it might qualify as fair use for a promotional photo. Let me know if you have any further questions. --[[User:Christopherlin|Christopherlin]] 15:07, 21 April 2006 (UTC) |

It did not go through AfD. What happens it that the article had no decent sources, and contained material that the subject found defamatory (thus most of the article was incorrect under [[WP:BLP]]). She complained to the Foundation (see [[m:OTRS]]). The article failed to establish the notability of the subject, which made it suitable for speedy deletion under CSD:A7. |
|||
Really, we don't have enough volunteers on OTRS to go on lengthy discussions every time we have a minor porn star or similar complaining about biographies. [[User:David.Monniaux|David.Monniaux]] 15:24, 19 January 2007 (UTC) |

==Fair use rationale for [[:Image:Livejournal-logo.png]]== |

[[Image:Nuvola apps important.svg|70px|left]] |

Thanks for uploading or contributing to '''[[:Image:Livejournal-logo.png]]'''. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under [[Wikipedia:Fair use|fair use]] but there is no [[Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline|explanation or rationale]] as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the [[Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Fair use|boilerplate fair use template]], you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found [[WP:FURG|here]]. |
|||
Please go to [[:Image:Livejournal-logo.png|the image description page]] and edit it to include a [[Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline |fair use rationale]]. Using one of the templates at [[Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline]] is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page. |

A tag has been placed on [[:No Pants Day]] requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under [[WP:CSD#A7|section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion]], because the article appears to be about an organized event (tour, function, meeting, party, etc.), but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the [[WP:CSD#Articles|criteria for speedy deletion]], such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about [[Wikipedia:Notability (summary)|what is generally accepted as notable]]. |

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may '''contest the nomination''' by [[:No Pants Day|visiting the page]] and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. [[File:Ambox warning orange.svg|30px]] [[:Portal:Cycling]], a page which you created or substantially contributed to, has been nominated for [[WP:MfD|deletion]]. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; you may participate in the discussion by adding your comments at [[Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Portal:Cycling]] and please be sure to [[WP:SIG|sign your comments]] with four tildes (<nowiki>~~~~</nowiki>). The article [[:Meghan Black]] has been [[Wikipedia:Proposed deletion|proposed for deletion]] because of the following concern: |
|||
<blockquote>Non notable actor. The only source is IMDB. No evidence of secondary sources that could help improve the article. Article is a mirror of IMDb, almost entirely minor or uncredited roles.</blockquote> |
|||
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be [[WP:DEL#REASON|deleted for any of several reasons]]. |
|||
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{Tlc|proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your [[Help:edit summary|edit summary]] or on [[Talk:Meghan Black|the article's talk page]]. |
|||
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{Tlc|proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the [[Wikipedia:Proposed deletion|proposed deletion process]], but other [[Wikipedia:deletion process|deletion process]]es exist. In particular, the [[Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion|speedy deletion]] process can result in deletion without discussion, and [[Wikipedia:Articles for deletion|articles for deletion]] allows discussion to reach [[Wikipedia:Consensus|consensus]] for deletion.<!-- Template:Proposed deletion notify --> [[User:Cardiffbear88|Cardiffbear88]] ([[User talk:Cardiffbear88|talk]]) 09:36, 11 April 2020 (UTC) |

[edit]Hello and welcome to Wikipedia!
Here are some tips to help you get started:
- If you haven't already, please add your name to the new user log to let others know a little about yourself.
- Read the article describing how to edit a page and feel free to experiment in the Sandbox.
- Eventually, read the Manual of Style and Policies and Guidelines.
- If you need help, post a question in the Newcomers' Village Pump.
- Explore, be bold in editing pages, and, most importantly, have fun!
Good luck!
Jrdioko
P.S. One last helpful hint. To sign your posts like I did above (on talk pages, for example) use the '~' symbol. To insert just your name, type ~~~ (3 tildes), or to insert your name and timestamp, use ~~~~ (4 tildes)
thanks for...

Article Licensing
[edit]Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:
- Multi-Licensing FAQ - Lots of questions answered
- Multi-Licensing Guide
- Free the Rambot Articles Project
To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:
- Option 1
- I agree to [[Wikipedia:Multi-licensing|multi-license]] all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
- {{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}
OR
- Option 2
- I agree to [[Wikipedia:Multi-licensing|multi-license]] all my contributions to any [[U.S. state]], county, or city article as described below:
- {{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}
Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}" with "{{MultiLicensePD}}". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)
Medline and MedlinePLUS
[edit]Hi, removed your merge as these two resources target separate audiences. Medline is a search engine for health professionals and researchers for professional journals which are very technical. MedlinePLUS is a compilation of resources and links for health consumers or patients screened by medical librarians at the National Library of Medicine to be less technical and more understandable for most people. While they both have the name Medline, they are very different and should be separate articles. thanks Petersam 05:44, 13 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Good to have you back ...
[edit]... on "Bicycle". I don't recall if you were involved last year when this article got VERY good. I nominated it for "feature" and shepherded it through the process. It missed making it due to one guy who DIDN'T LIKE THE PICTURE and another (who I am sure will reappear) who insists on a lot of sociological stuff, which becomes so POV and debatable that it makes consensus very difficult. I believe he is also the one who keeps putting that goofy (European-only) "legal issues" stuff at the front of the "technical"(?) section. This guy voted OBJECT separately for each piddling objection, so that it looked like the article went down 8-6 instead of 8-1 or 8-2. Hope it makes it back. Sfahey 16:11, 23 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Finale
[edit]As it happens, I *did* do a search for finale first, and that page failed to come up for some reason.
But perhaps, while changing the wikilink was called for, changing the original page to a redirect was a bit abrupt? --Baylink 15:01, 8 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- Well, clearly I should have looked further to see if there was already a page. I guess the guideline I'd suggest is "If you're going to whack an entire page -- even to redirect it to something which serves its purpose -- discussion is indicated. The fewer contributors to said page, the more important it probably is." :-) I try not to have too much ego, and to assume good faith, but it can be hard, sometimes.
- OTOH: clearly, it wasn't *that* important to me, since I haven't gone back and merged my copy in. :-} --Baylink 05:54, 13 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Bicycle frame
[edit]I think you made a mistake in merging Seat Stay onto Talk:Bicycle frame instead of Bicycle frame. Or did you want to do further editing before actually adding the material into Bicycle frame? Julius.kusuma 11:06, 2 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- I was merging the other ones, and then saw that you had added a photo and more information. I wasn't sure how to handle that new info without majorly reworking the flow of bicycle frame. If you'd like, go ahead and handle it. By the way, nice Cyfac. It seems that's the source of the frame detail pictures? I think Wikipedia likes photo copyright tags, as well. --Christopherlin 14:18, 2 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- I did realize that you were going to merge the material, but I added some stuff just because :-). I'm not sure the best way to do the merging, but some some re-organization is in order for sure. I'm thinking that Bicycle frame should be more brief in coverage of bicycle frame material, so maybe Bicycle frame material can be its own article, since a lot of the knowledge is shared between the many types of bicycles. Then Bicycle frame itself can focus on the geometry/design, sans material consideration. Let me know what you think, and I'll work with you on it. The photos are all taken by me, of my Cyfac, so no problem with copyright issues. Thanks. Julius.kusuma 14:39, 2 Apr 2005 (UTC)

WikiProject on Cycling
[edit]I noticed you made a number of contribs to cycling and cycle racing articles. Would you like to join the WikiProject on Cycling? --Christopherlin 14:31, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Thanks; I'd be happy to participate if I can make a useful contribution. I'm not Samuel Abt or Bob Roll, but I am a fan, a native English speaker and a part-time writer. So far I've mostly just touched up a few articles on famous riders: Hinault was a little disjointed; Indurain too short; Cipo too bland. It may sometimes look as if I've re-written the whole thing, but I actually just added some content and then re-structured the expanded article while keeping most or all of the original language. I also couldn't resist adding a new 'Culture and Customs' section to the Tour de France entry, even though it was already a long article. If I can help in a more coordinated way just let me know where to start.
On a completely different topic, I have figured out a lot of the Wiki tags (e.g. bold, italic) but I haven't found a complete list. They're not html, although they sometimes look like it. I might even be able to learn how to indent in situations like this.

WikiProject on Cycling
[edit]I'm a novice Wikipedia writer, so bear with me. I'm not sure where to comment on the WikiProject, so I'm putting something here for now.
As a "utility cyclist" I would suggest a less racing-centric hierarchy for this project. This would include:
- Top-level sections for "Competitive Cycling," "Utility Cycling" and "Recreational Cycling."
- Moving the top-level bicycle racing section into the Competitive Cycling section.
- Moving the top-level cyclists section into the Competitive Cycling section.
- Possibly even moving the Bicycle parts section into the Bicycles section - this seems too technical to be at the top level of a general article. But perhaps that's my bias - I'm always trying to keep novice cyclists from losing interest when the conversation turns too technical...
The utility cycling pages seem to be chaotic and bogged down in politics, of course... I'm not sure if I want to wade into that fray myself yet.

no support for open source alternatives?
[edit]Hi, on 9/2 @ 1:12, I believed you removed an edit to the MCAT page regarding a study tool alternative. Is there a particular reason why the reference to mcatpearls.com was removed? It seems no less advertisement than the brick and mortar references and is itself an open-source project that embodies Wiki's mission. Alfa Diallo 16:47, 6 September 2005 (UTC)
- Hm... Dunno. I didn't really look at the link. If you want to readd it, I won't complain. I'd suggest putting it as an external link, without making an internal wikipedia link. I hope that makes sense. --Christopherlin 05:19, 7 September 2005 (UTC)
Changes made, external link added until a Wiki topic created. Is it customary to reject page edits without reviewing them? Alfa Diallo
- See Wikipedia:Importance and Wikipedia:Notability for why a wiki article on the site might not last long. Did you make the edit? Do you maintain the mcatpearls website? As far as "rejecting": When I saw it, it seemed rather suspect because it was from an anon IP and tried to link to a non-existent article. List of websites has a lot of trouble with people spamming that. But don't let this discourage you. Wiki takes some practice. --Christopherlin 02:34, 9 September 2005 (UTC)

Category:Arrested Development characters
[edit]I've been going through Special:Uncategorizedcategories, and I notice you've blanked the Arrested Development characters category a couple times. It has to be deleted for some reason, not just blanked, or it makes more work for everyone. I see it survived a CfD, or I'd suggest that. Can you let me know what the problem with it is, so I can help figure out what to do with the category? Thanks, SCZenz 07:12, 25 December 2005 (UTC)
- The CfD was after a large-scale merge of Arrested Development character articles into a single list: "Only contains four articles, three of which I have tagged for merge into Characters from Arrested Development. ..." The list is in the category for the show, Category:Arrested Development (TV series). Somewhere I remember reading that blanking an unpopulated category was equivalent to deleting it. Looks like I have to brush up. :-> So, CfD?
- By the way, when were you at U. Chicago? I knew a few people who ended up there. --Christopherlin 20:54, 25 December 2005 (UTC)
- Blanking isn't the same as deletion for any article. If the category isn't needed, then you should mark it for speedy deletion with {{db}} or similar. If it's really empty, unused, and unneeded, it can certainly be speedied; I would have deleted it already, but thought I'd better ask about the past cfd first. I'll delete it now. Thanks for your reply.
- I was at the U of C 2000-2004. I majored in physics and math, and lived in Woodward Court and the Palevsky Central building, and did a lot with the University of Chicago Scavenger Hunt; that ought to be enough to figure out if I might ever have run into anyone you know. ;-) SCZenz 21:11, 25 December 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks for clarifying. I'll go over my old contribs and see if I did the same before.
- My friend was there from 1999-2003. She was in religious studies, and was in choir and a cappella groups. I think she was an RA in Maxwell house. A maybe. Dunno. --Christopherlin 03:24, 26 December 2005 (UTC)
manufacuterer vs cycling.
[edit]I had though about that for bicycle mechanic. Should it be a under cycling or bicycle manufacturer. A mechanic could be, and would be more considered the final making process of manufacturing. Hence I included it in the category bicycle manufactuer. I am leaving a copy of this on the discusion of that article. --CyclePat 23:13, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
Cycling palmares template
[edit]Sorry I'm slow with this response. I just found your query (on WikiProject:Cycling). Probably a footnote would be the best way to present that info. I have experimented with some different formats for the curriculum vitae (palmares listings). For example, see the manner of presentation on Diana Ziliute where the results are in paragraph form with small national flags used as separators.
I'm actually more concerned about the general lack of proper biographical iinformation. Wikipedia guidelines, with which I agree entirely on this point, state that a curriculum vitae is not, by itself, a biography. Only about 10 to 15 percent of the women's cycle racing articles have what I would call adequate biographical treatments. There is also a strong systemic bias in such Wikipedia articles in favor of the more recent riders to the exclusion of those riders (even multiple world champions) from the past. JFPerry 15:20, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
- I just footnoted the Palmares note on Genevieve Jeanson. Is that what you had in mind? It works for me.JFPerry
- Hm... I don't know. It does put the note in the head, which might mess up the #-linking. Well, in any case, I'll c&p the text into {{palmares note}} so that it can be changed if needed, and all the pages with the note will be updated at the same time. --Christopherlin 03:59, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
Should the word palmares be defined in that note? JFPerry 16:58, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
- Up to you. I was just suggesting that the text be put in a template so any edits could be made without having to track down everywhere it appeared. Y'know? Thanks for putting the image into bicycle trainer, btw. --Christopherlin 04:22, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

Adminship
[edit]Christopher - I noticed that you've been around for a long time, started Wikiproject Cycling, and generally make good edits. Do you think that admin tools would be useful as you work on the encyclopedia? If so, I would be glad to nominate you at WP:RFA! -SCEhardT 00:28, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
- Wow, thanks! The short answer would be sometimes and maybe. I'd like to read about/think about it for a bit, if that's all right. I'm going to read through WP:ADMIN and some of the pages linked from there; what else would you suggest? --Christopherlin 01:47, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
Certainly; take all the time you want. The only other page I can think of that you might want to look at is Wikipedia:Administrators' reading list. However, don't get too overwhelmed by that. Most admins focus on a smaller area of Wikipedia - even though admins have a full set of functions, they are certainly not obligated to use them all. On the other hand, if you don't think you would use any of the admin functions, you should just stick with being a regular user. Hope this helps! -SCEhardT 05:03, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, I'm interested. --Christopherlin 23:18, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
Here you go! Just follow the instructions here and don't forget to update the time/date just before adding your nom to the RfA page. Someone has rearranged Template:RfA and it looks like yours will be the first with the new arrangement - just letting you know so you don't think something is wrong. Phlebotomy (modern) and Venipuncture
[edit]Merging the two articles is a good idea. The information in both overlaps. BrianGCrawfordMA 16:52, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
I oftentimes when doing RC Patrol will place tags on articles that are poorly written or unencyclopedic. I also tag them with the {{expand}} tag. In only rare situations do I not my reasons why on the discussion page. When I tagged the article, it didn't hav emuch information and in fact I almost speedy deleted it as being nonsense. If you can figure out a way to make it better, that would be helpful.--MONGO 23:39, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
Re: RfA vote
[edit]Thanks for making me aware of this. I just wanted to let you know that even though I voted oppose, I think you are a great editor. It is also nice that you dropped me a message and let me know about the RfA vote. I tend to have very high standards in voting (mostly because it is easier to become an admin than to be desysoped), but with some more experience spent in the Wikipedia space, I think you'd make a great administrator. Thanks again! --PS2pcGAMER (talk) 00:24, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
- Sure, no problem. I've certainly learned about other aspects of Wikipedia through this process. I'd like to AGF, and that Axiomm made a mistake. Thanks for weighing in and explaining. --Christopherlin 00:59, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit]It is with regret that I have to inform you that your nomination for adminship was not successful on this occasion. Consensus on rfa is between 75-80%. Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing your name on a nomination again in the future. -- Francs2000 11:36, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

Bad luck; standards at RFA seem to be getting very erratic these days, with people opposing for equal and opposite reasons (like, doesn't contribute to articles, vs. "only" contributes to articles). Alai 17:25, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

I'm sorry that your RfA did not work out. You look like a good editor and I'm sure you're on the right track to becoming one. public/private wikis
[edit]Hi--I saw your helpdesk comment about wikis with public sections and private sections. I've been looking for such a solution for a community wiki, where only a small number of pages can be exposed to the public. I'm very interested in anything you've found out about how to do that, if you're interested in sharing. Feel free to email me or respond here or on my talk page. Thanks! · rodii · 00:29, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the advice! :) Yeah, I live in a small community that's pretty web savvy. We are our own ISP with a campus-wide wireless network, we do a lot of stuff via web apps we write, and we use a wiki for everything, but a fairly crappy one. I've been scheming to replace it and our public site with mediawiki, but I haven't figured out how to do that without running two instances of the software. So if I could find some way to control access to a subset of the pages--or rather, to expose a few pages to the world and keep the rest accessible only by password, that would be great. Contacting the people at those labs is a great idea, thanks. Cheers, · rodii · 03:19, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
MathCounts
[edit]thanks for the comment on my change. I responded to your post on the talk board for MathCounts. I also checked with my dad, who has attended the last three NH Mathcount State Competitions. Fun with Images
[edit]First, cheers for the support. I kept being told to 'be bold', nice to know it was serious. Though i do need to get in the habit of using the edit summaries.... I've all but re-written the Bottom Bracket article, and so i went on the hunt for pictures and, as you said, found some on the de wikipedia. How do i get these into the article? Do i need to re-upload them to en wikipedia, or is there some syntax i can't find to call de from en? Cheers! Lordandmaker 00:33, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
You're welcome. Thanks for your contributions.
Here's what I got at Wikipedia:Help Desk at the beginning of February:
Obvious way to use an image off of another wikipedia is to download it and re-upload it to either the English Wikipedia or Wikimedia Commons. There are some images on the German Wikipedia that I would like to use here. They are made by users there, and licenced under GFDL. Example: de:Bild:Nabe 01 KMJ.jpg
Is there a way to get images from there to the commons without discarding original uploader names? Is there a better place to ask this? Thanks. --Christopherlin 06:50, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
- Simply include the original uploader's name when uploading it elsewhere and mention where it came from (along with a translation of any original information that was there, if you can). There's no technical way to include all the required info. - 131.211.210.10 08:45, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
I did it here: Image:Freehub KMJ.jpg. Basically, I just said who uploaded it where, copied the German description, and wrote a new English description to supplement. Feel free to use that as an example. I should have uploaded it to Wikimedia Commons, in retrospect. Whichever is fine.
Don't forget Wikipedia:Naming conventions with regard to preferring lowercase names for articles that aren't proper names. It takes getting used to, but it is house style. Let me know if you have any other questions. --Christopherlin 02:28, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Here was my rationale for removing the implication, per Wikipedia:No personal attacks#Examples:
"Specific examples of personal attacks include but are not limited to: ... Using someone's affiliations as a means of dismissing or discrediting their views — regardless of whether said affiliations are mainstream or extreme."
Let me know what you think. --Christopherlin 23:20, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
- I hadn't recently read that section of WP:NPA. I would say that stating the fact that User:Moberemb appears to be an employee of College Bowl, Inc. is not a personal attack. However, I would say that under this standard, more of the offending post could be considered a personal attack. I would say that all of the following constitutes use of Moberemb's affiliations to dismiss her edits: "...and I suspect her agenda in removing this information ties directly to her having an interest in covering up any bad press about CBI. In other words, her editing is a rather poor attempt to hide relevant information to avoid anything that makes her employer look bad." NatusRoma | Talk 05:29, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
- Basically, I was doing RPA to the full name, even though the rest was an ad hom. at bias (which I agree with). Admittedly, I greatly prefer the other available formats. --Christopherlin 06:24, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

Image deletion
[edit]WHAT?!! Why is the image being deleted? I got permission directly from the author...? JamieJones talk 11:38, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
I assume you are talking about the Catherina Asaro photo? Basically, "Permission obtained from author Catherine Asaro to post on Wikipedia only." means that per http://mail.wikipedia.org/pipermail/wikien-l/2005-May/023760.html , it's not okay. It's not a problem of permission from the author (Asaro herself?). This is great that you did get permission, Wikipedia just likes free licenses, not "Wikipedia only", not "non-commercial use only". I think it might qualify as fair use for a promotional photo. Let me know if you have any further questions. --Christopherlin 15:07, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

Image:Lisaling.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Lisaling.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Oden 11:16, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Livejournal-logo.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Livejournal-logo.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Dead like me header.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Dead like me header.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Speedy deletion nomination of No Pants Day
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on No Pants Day requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organized event (tour, function, meeting, party, etc.), but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. — Bdb484 (talk) 20:37, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Nomination of National Consortium of Secondary STEM Schools for deletion
[edit]A discussion is taking place as to whether the article National Consortium of Secondary STEM Schools is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/National Consortium of Secondary STEM Schools until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Boleyn (talk) 16:31, 28 March 2020 (UTC)
The article Meghan Black has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Non notable actor. The only source is IMDB. No evidence of secondary sources that could help improve the article. Article is a mirror of IMDb, almost entirely minor or uncredited roles.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Cardiffbear88 (talk) 09:36, 11 April 2020 (UTC)

However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 19:07, 25 December 2020 (UTC)
