-The Gingerbread Man was created by [[The Muffin Man]]. He is small and a fast runner, making him difficult to catch. He is made out of a normal carved-out gingerbread with icing and gumdrop buttons. He adores those gumdrop buttons for his life, begging [[Lord Farquaad]] not to pull them off.
-He is impatient. This can be seen in ''Shrek 2'' and ''Shrek The Third''. One example in ''Shrek 2'' is when Pinocchio cannot move himself while he is freeing Shrek and the trio from prison, Gingy sighs immediately and goes down to help. He's also a little bit wild and a prankster, as it can be seen the moment Shrek and Fiona leave for Far Far Away, he and the others have a loud party in his house. -In the film, [[Lord Farquaad]] broke off both of his legs to torture him and prevent him from running away. In the process, one of the legs was crumbled to pieces. He also tries to warn the Magi Mirror not to tell him anything, before being thrown into the trash by Lord Farquaad to keep him quiet. At the end of the movie, the intact leg was reattached in stitches using frosting and Gingy used a [[candy cane]] as a crutch to make up for missing his other leg. He says Tiny Tim from the Christmas Carol, famous quote "God bless us everyone!". He's shown joining the other characters dancing to Donkey's song "I'm a Believer", he's shown dancing with the tiny figure of Fiona on the wedding cake, after digging Lord Farquaad's figure into the cake. By the beginning of the film, Gingy had obtained a replacement for that leg as well, also attached to his body with frosting. Gingy tells Shrek about the bounty, but does not continue, as when Shrek puts him down, Gingy is eaten by Puss in Boots. And after Shrek apologizes to him and the others, he runs inside Shrek's house in terror at the sight of Santa Claus.

-In the TV special, Gingy is one of the many fairy-tale characters that go to Lord Farquaad's castle to tell scary stories. Gingy interrupts Pinocchio about to tell his story, and he begins to tell (a true) scary story that happened to him. The story was captioned "The Bride of Gingy" (a play on "The Bride of Frankenstein" or "The Bride of Chucky". In the story Gingy sadly goes to the Muffin Man's house telling him "his girlfriend kicked him out"! The two begin to talk and Gingy tell's him he wants a girl that will love him forever, so the Muffin Man makes Gingy a cookie-wife for him. But Gingy puts in too much sugar because he wants her to be sweet, but she comes out as an over-protective crazy girlfriend bent out on spending every second with Gingy. Gingy tries to get away but she finds him on top of the bakers oven. She clings to his leg, but he kicks her off and she falls to her (supposed) death into a bowl being mixed. Meanwhile, Gingy goes back to his house and watches TV, but when Gingy hit his new bride into the mixing bowl, she was formed into dozens of cookie-brides, now looking deformed. They all invade Gingy's house moaning at him, and it goes back to the gang asking "Then what happened?", and Gingy replies "They ate me?" Making many fairytale creatures running away and losing the contest. But the others realize Gingy was lying about this story being true, so Gingy yells "Look! It's Lord Farquaad's ghost!" and he runs for it.
