It would seem fitting given the current examination of the contributions of the [[Malayan Communist Party|Communist Party of Malaya]] (CPM) towards the fight for independence. At the very least some background on Lai Teck is necessary in order to properly contextualise the actions of CPM from the Japanese occupation during WWII up until the establishment of the [[British Military Administration]]. After all, his orders shaped CPM policy and attitudes towards the two colonial powers up until the discovery of his triple agent status.
