==History==
The current ASCISD can be traced back to 1846 with the opening of the Masonic Collegiate Institute. The sponsoring Masonic Lodge opened a facility for the school in 1847 on what is the current ASCISD site. The property would pass back and forth between the Lodge and several owners until 1905, when the Lodge deeded the property to the Anderson School District No. 1, which was created by Grimes County in 1893 and had purchased part of the original property at that time.<ref>http://www.ascisd.net/pages/Anderson-Shiro_Consolidated_IS/General_Info/History</ref>

During the 1940's and 1950's several smaller districts (Independent District No. 2, Pine Grove District No. 3, Spring Grove District No. 1, Carlos, and Eureka No. 26) were consolidated into the Anderson ISD. In 1959 the northern half of the [[Klein Independent School District]] was annexed into the Anderson ISD. The district took its current name, and nearly doubled in size, in June 1970 when it consolidated with the neighboring Shiro district.<ref>http://www.ascisd.net/pages/Anderson-Shiro_Consolidated_IS/General_Info/History</ref>
